    Nice video. In defense of 'elders' :D I'm happy to report that I've just recently started cold showers, working on my health. I HATED cold water all my life! Never took showers. hot baths only - all year. After reading about it I MADE myself do it. I'm 75 - I figured it would either kill me, or...who knows?! First started like you suggested - hot, then cool. But then just set it to cold one morning & got in. Made myself stay! And the strangest thing happened...I just kept standing there! When I got out, I don't know if I've ever felt that good or had that much energy since I was 18. Unbelievable. I'm totally sold. Oh - vata/pitta. :)

    Finally someone who says cold showers are not beneficial FOR EVERYONE (=vata imbalance person like me). I will try it as suggested in a hot/cold way. Thank you!

      Interesting. I am a pure Vara myself. How has your Vata handeled cold showers? Are you/ have you been practicing cold showers? Do you have any practical tips to share that have worked for you?

    This is perfect advice, I really value your wisdom. My daily yogic practice has led me to this conclusion as well, for nearly two years I've missed only a couple days of taking a cold shower, I practiced serious dedication to the idea. I am now at a point where it would hurt me if I continue compulsively, it truly is about moderation and making sure you are balanced and strong first. I like your solution for turning it to cold at the end, and I think being familiar with the benefits, I can find middle ground altogether. My body can't handle the shock on a daily basis anymore based on misguided willpower. Every word of the video felt inspired for me, thank you so much for your work.

    I did this without knowing hahahha :D I felt exactly what you said, I feel awesome!!! I have very low energy (cause I feel everything and everyone and can't manage it) so I was looking for ways to have more energy. My body did exactly what you said, it's a cold day, and I started with hot than colder and colder, but only 1 second on extreme cold. Immediately my body felt warm again!! I'm always cold, and now I'm not!!! I was covered with a blanket before, and I have my own warmth now THIS IS NEW HAHAHAH THANK YOU & Love to all!!!!!

    Before I take a cold shower I’ll prep my body first by doing any kind of moment that will produce warmth to my body.. For example I’ll do some squats or jump up and down until I start to feel my body warm up. I try to not push it to the point where I start to sweat just to the point where Iam really warm. It works for me and I hope it can help anyone wanting to try it

    This is what I do everyday at night. I do as hot as I can take and enjoy to warm up , then when I start feeling hot I cool down with briefly cool shower at the end. It is like a suana, also when I have done saunas I love pouring jars of cool water over myself at the end to lock everything in. I learned the shower thing years ago from natural medicine doctor in Mexico. Glad to hear I am on track with this habit.

    Although do plunch this organism in freezing water it is only for abouth 30 seconds.. and.. mostly at the end of day before an activity like preparing a dinner. In this way the warmth is back quickly... Enjoy wisely and be strong.. ❤❤❤

    What seasons can Cold Showers be practiced in? Being a Pitta/Vata I normally take cold showers during the Summer (Pitta Season), can I also practice cold showers during Fall/Winter without Vata derangement?

    Any sugestions on what to wash yourself with besides water? Ive heard that Ayur Veda says you should never put anything on your skin that you cant eat. Sounds reasonable. But is there any food thats good for shaving with if you have thick strong beard?

    Are cold showers ok for aggrivated pitta? I'm confused because it's cooling of course but it also gets the inner fire going more.

    Hello doctor. I have one burning question about India, I would love to go there again but last time I had a terrible stomach fl after eating meat. Ik afraid of getting that again because im afraid of lasting damage to my digestive system. What are your thoughts on this?

      Be careful what you eat and drink. Don't eat cold food that is washed in the water there. Drink boiled bottled water. Don't eat out if you have to must be properly cooked hot and non fried foods. Wipe cutlery and plate before. Basic hygiene all of the time. Be careful what you breath in and where.

    this really cleared up some stuff for me. i started experimenting with the Wim Hof method a few weeks ago and my gut instinct was more in line with the moderate approach like you mentioned. even though i actually liked going straight into the cold san fransisco shower for a few days. but do you have thoughts about swimming in the ocean here? starting off with just quick plunges and building up? any advice would be very much appreciated.

    • @DrRobertSvoboda
      @DrRobertSvoboda  6 років тому +1

      IMO you will indeed do well when swimming in the cold San Francisco ocean by starting off with quick plunges and building up gradually & slowly - good luck!

    You mentioned in this video that having a cold shower draws the heat inward, but if you have a pitta aggravation wouldn’t that overheat the core and digestion of the body already beginning your day with a pitta imbalance? The only imbalance in the video spoken was about Vata.

    • @DrRobertSvoboda
      @DrRobertSvoboda  4 роки тому +6

      IMO there is a chance to overstimulate pitta with a program that includes cold showers, but probably not by cold showers alone - however, since pitta people always overdo, they could easily create programs for themselves that would overstimulate pitta and then cold showers might enhance the aggravation ...

    I absolutely refuse to even think of having a cold shower. I live in extremely cold climate (finland), i have chronic vata aggravation and in winter im freezing 24/7 no matter how i try to warm up my body 😖 in winter time my bathroom is hardly above freezing and actually sometimes also below freezing 😝 i just try to spend as much time in hot sauna as posdible and wait for the summer! Biohackers can keep all the benefits of cold shower; i skip those 🙄

      But that's what he said... it's not for everybody, or at least everybody at any time. The issue is in the incorrect premise, based on the western modern medicine model, in our debate environments, that pushes those health recommendations for everyone (until it backfires horribly in someone's life). Vattas should just ignore these things.

I take a 5 minutes cold shower everyday that is immediatly on the coldest possible temperature, and after my body feels warm. This is good right? Even tho im vata.
