    Welcome kindred, I’m Jessica.
I’m on a magical, healing adventure with journaling, tarot, astrology, and creative self discovery. Here I share the tools, inspiration, and resources I gather along my path of deepening self-awareness and connection with All That Is.

I’m in the US and we have a German heritage town near me that does a Maypole dance for May Day, they used to be more popular on college campuses along with crowning a May Queen and May King but they don’t really happen anymore.
May baskets are something I grew up with too though. We hang them on door knobs, ring the door bell, and run! If you got caught they had to give you a kiss on the cheek. Like the opposite of Trick-or-Treating. It’s not as popular anymore but my kid is going to do it this year. I’ll probably leave a little note so the neighbors who are younger aren’t confused.

The May baskets sounds lovely! And that’s fun about the maypole dancing too. I wonder if it’s an Anglo Saxon thing which also filtered into more modern German culture? It’s not a welsh custom but it’s always fun to see ❤️

@@JessicaandtheMoon I'm not sure. All I know is that it's been happening here since at least the 1830s when there was an influx of German immigrants to the area. I feel like I've read about different May Pole traditions from different parts of Europe but never saw if it had somewhere it originated.

Where I live we don't pronounce forsythia with a long I. My best friend is named Cynthia and when she was growing up her father used to tell her that forsythia was actually called For-Cynthia but that little joke wouldn't have worked if she'd grown up in Wales. 😋

😆😆 pronunciations are funny! And Cynthia is still a short “i” in wales too, so I’ve no idea why we say Forsythia like that 😆

Stroop is pronounced like the English trope.
