Such a wealth of information, Martin - thank you for being so thorough.
I do like the MINI Electric very much but, compared to my 94Ah i3 Rex, it just doesn't have the range, nor the rear-wheel-drive configuration I've come to enjoy...
As always, thank you to Wisely for being such an invaluable resource in the EV sector. 💚

The i3 is „born electric“. That’s what makes it special compared to a combustion engine layout.

I just wanted to thank you for the quick yet thorough overview of the differences between both cars, it actually helped me with my purchase. I ended up buying a pre-facelift SE earlier this year, in Germany we had four trim levels and the one I got was Level 3. Interestingly the BMW dealer also had a 2021 facelift in the very same color configuration, but only Level 2 trim and comparable mileage, it would've been around €3000 more than the pre-facelift.
Personally I also like the looks more, the dedicated fog lights look better in my opinion and I prefer the nore tactile buttons on the steering wheel.

I'll go for the Mid-2024 Chinese EV with double the range and newer looks. Can't wait!

As someone who has had two (ICE) MINI’s before moving on to an i3 I would like to particularly recommend the lovely soft, comfortable Lounge Leather seats in the Level 3. These were an expensive option - and better than the standard full leather option. IMHO the sunroof in the MINI is just about the best out there. Front half slides back completely over the rear half to create a very big aperture and both sections can be tilted. I also note that the Level 3 spec includes a head up display. On the face of it MINI’s can appear expensive but you will not find a small car with such a high spec - and course built to BMW quality standards.

I have the first version, it has the Matrix led lights, they are discontinued now so the rest only have normal led lights.

Video request: I want to keep my i3 REx in top condition, but don't know which servicing and maintenance tasks are recommended and at what interval. Could you do an overview please?

You'll be pleased to hear we are working on a 3-part Servicing and Maintenance series which will hopefully answer all your questions :)

@@wiselyauto Looking forward to it! If it can cover necessary, recommended and ‘good to do’ things it will be so valuable. 🙏

Does the mini offer a heat pump option, to help with winter range?

Yes! In fact, it is a standard option across all trims. We discuss the drivetrain and options in a bit more detail in this video:

@@wiselyauto How about a winter range test: i3 with heat pump Vs i3 with standard heater? Or a mini (with standard heat pump) vs an i3 120ah with standard heater?

A glass roof is a must with every Mini. Otherwise you keep bending over all the time to see the traffic lights through that silly 21:9 ratio wind screen.
