I've just got my batch 10 Framework a little over a month ago and I really like it. I've also had no issues with the hinge stiffness at all. My single biggest complaint is battery life as you mentioned. I get around 5 hours of mixed use (web browsing, UA-cam, Spotify, etc.). It's okay for my use case, as I mostly use the laptop at home or near power outlets anyway, but it's still a significant downgrade from my Dell XPS I had before. Fan noise however isn't a problem at all for me, most of the time the laptop stays silent. Especially now that Firefox version 102 *finally* fixed video hardware decoding on Linux the fan barely ramps up at all. My workloads are usually pretty light tho, to be fair. One thing on my wish list in terms of future customization options I'd like to see is a metal bezel, similar to the old MacBook Air. I don't know how easy that would be to do, but I feel like it would make the Laptop seem a lot more premium at first look :)
In most cases, it has to do with Intel not being power efficient enough. Ryzen gas better BatLife but not as performing on hugher performancd based tasks
Not sure what batch my framework is exactly (I got it at the end of May) but I have never heard the fan and I use it for UA-cam and Udemy all the time. I do run Linux rather than Windows, so maybe that's the difference, but it surprises me to hear that the fans ramp up with UA-cam. I have never had this issue!
Yeah it sounds like this may be a Windows issue because several others who use Linux report no fan noise. I have experienced this on two separate clean installs of Windows, and on both 10 and 11. My wife's Dell also does the same thing, which is part of why I think this could be an Intel issue, not Framework. I'll be curious to see how Alder Lake does, but I'm not holding out hope since they tend to run hot and noisy too!
I've been waiting to buy one for a long time, it's still not available in my region 😞 But I'd love to see a Ryzen version too. I really liked your video recording style, didn't expect it to be a small channel. Keep going! 😃 Subscribed.
honestly, if they just made a second lineup with a slightly larger chassis and a discrete gpu this would 100% be the laptop i get when i do get one, but where its at right now i dont see it as competing with what im looking for even if it has better reparability
The only thing making me hold off is the lack of an AMD cpu option. But if framework don't get more sales then a AMD option is less likely. A catch 22...
I think there is a good chance we may see something in the next 3-4 months. The older Ryzen 5000 series did not support USB 4 which meant they were an automatic no-go for Framework's expansion slot system, and the 6000 U series are still rolling out to major systems manufacturers. I would expect that if Framework was planning an AMD system it would be August at the earliest before they could make that available, and hopefully with the feedback they have gotten they are planning that!
Bro hell not 22 seconds boot time is f2cking fast i have to wait more than 2 minutes to boot my freaking main Coumputer (don't ask me how long is take to boot my secondly Coumputer)
I tried that, as well as disabling hyper threading, but the fan still ramped up significantly and the heat went up a lot too. A user on Framework's forum has a guide for creating a custom power setting, and limiting the CPU power to 90% seems to help significantly. The fan will still ramp up if you try something like running Cinebench, but otherwise it's pretty quiet. I have yet to find a way to mitigate the iGPU power consumption and fan noise however.
I pre ordered the new generation. I would have preferred Ryzen 6000 over Alder Lake but it will do.

Seeing as they have a larger Framework Laptop 16 & an AMD option now I think you'd be happy to hear about that!
Here we are, waiting for an ARM or RISC-V Framework laptop so it can be on par with m series macbooks

If only they shipped to more countries in the world!

Well, they have that coming now.
they need to make a lineup with gpus (3050ti, 3060, etc...) At that point I'd buy a laptop in a heartbeat.
I'm waiting for the opportunity to do a pre-order from Australia, I did get an email recently saying they aren't far off opening pre-orders for us!

I think I will consider it with the 12th gen upgrade since you have more then 8 threads. I was waiting for this.
will they be releasing an amd board? the 680m gpu is crazy good
What do you think the new Framework Laptop 16 is more for gaming or Engineering? Framework Laptop 13 is not have same power of graphics?
I'd buy one in an instant if they were available in Sweden. Now, it seems the only option is to buy one in Ger or UK using a shipping proxy?
Maybe with the help of a German or British friend? Just have to calculate additional shipping costs from that friend to you...
What do you think the new Framework Laptop 16?
That's really disappointing about the noise level. I have a Dell Latitude 5420 for work and it's silent.
Ebay.. some great acoustic panels will improve audio quality
Nice video! thanks for sharing!!!
Fan noise: do you have thé i5 or i7 Intel ?
It's the i5 version.
Is the 12 gen board use DDR5? or still DDR 4?
DDR4.
Great review!
Great video and editing; I want to start a channel and need your skills.

Does it have an ssd
5:10 disable Intel turbo boost, its garbage. You’ll lose about 20% performance but the CPU will consume HALF as much power

@@realsmallcomputers6039 Do you have a link to the forum post?

I'm just waiting for the framework to have a touchscreen
Definitely! With the 3D printed tablet case available, it's the only thing missing to make it a Surface Pro killer now.
@@realsmallcomputers6039 yeah surface pro form factor would be perfection
windows??? the horror!!!
I AM BROKE SO I CANT AFFORD IT MY PARENTS WILL NEVER ALLOW (TT)
