lad, GOD, spared your life, all your friends who are dead are burning in hell right now, I as a Christian I'm also a punk rocker, all me friends left me when they found out I'm a Christian, almost all are dead, and yes they are screaming from pain in hell, I wish you also can become a Christian so you can be in a nicer better place called heaven,.....if you don't you'll never see your friends ever, hell is separation from anything/anyone/ and any help,.......ok see you later,....oh btw, ...I'm the lead singer of a 1980's punk band,...from anaheim California, now I live in Morrisville, nc......marius(punk rules)
This was the soundtrack of my early teens, I lived in a shitty provincial town in England not too dissimilar to Melksham in Wiltshire where the SubHumans were from and this was the kind of protest punk that touched a nerve with me. Trotsky the drummer was only 15 when he joined the band too, fucking A!!
Damn! Subs were my biggest influence band in the 80's....Dick and these mates kick so much ass..I never joined the military, to fight someone else's FUCKING WAR! From 87 to 2020!! LOVE THE SUBS...LYRICALLY GENIUSES!!
I went to watch them at The Station in Gateshead but they had a crash on the way and Dick was in hospital. The rest of the band turned up and asked anyone who knew any of the lyrics to their songs to get up and sing. It was mental, but it was what punk was all about. It didn't help that there was a big contingent of nazi boneheads there also, who kicked off every time the music started. I was just a kid at time, but I was proud to see my two older brothers leading the fight back against them.
Do you know if it was the accident in November 1982? Apparently during that time Dick got his skull fractured while on his bike. A van driver overtook him and accidentally smashed his head with the sidemirror. The band ended up playing as The Flying Fish Band with Bruce, Phil, and Steve for a bit while he was hospitalized.
Haha this footage is excellent, takes me right back to my youth. "Demolition War" is without doubt the greatest punk e.p ever released. Poor old Dick gretting dragged into the crowd, those skinheads really were the bumhole of rock n roll.
@MrChattyO For me Subhumans was the last punk band i really liked, then i went away from all punk scene,.. sorry my bad English 1976-1984 punk gave me so much.. i dont forget that, ever. ever
I like how all the jocks get on stage and start doing Rastaman dances. That's great. In a very subtle way, that's the ultimate compliment. Cobain never got that and shot himself.
yup, definately olympic show but i think it's the 85 show with bad religion. i'm guessing by frank's hair (tall goldenvoicer who is trying to get kids off the stage). thanks a lot for posting, this was a great show. if this is 85 then after they performed, Dick got his classic leather stolen. The one with the big squatter symbol on it. sad.
Who didn't Cobain hate, seriously? I've read three or four biographies on the guy, and he was very, very bitter, very, very pissed at pretty much every socio economic group that I can think of. He didn't belong in the 90s. In this respect he reminds of me of Apostle Paul--the eternal Outsider.
Actually, I looked it up. Apparently those guys are with the band: they didn't like people dancing on their stage, so those guys threw them off if they did. XD (I gotta admit, that can be annoying when people do that...)
I dunno. A few years ago Subhumans came through Chicago. I was kinda bored during the set, and pretty drunk. I hopped on stage and did a front flip into the crowd. Whee. One of my favorite bands as a kid.
It's really hard to record a video at a punk show. Everyone's shoving you all about. Also a lot of the fans back then were on the dole so they couldn't afford a video recorder and if they did they would not bring it to a punk show.
BACK THEN BOUNCERS HAD THEIR SAY, BUT NOWADAYS BOUNCERS GET KILLED BY THE FANS IF THEY DO ANYTHING TO A FAN,........many bouncers now get killed, a lot got killed,........marius(punk rules).
it doesn't matter who had the name first, it's not like they were rival bands, one as from on one side of the ocean and one was on the other side of the ocean. the Canadian Sub's had some great tunes I still have incorrect thoughts on vinal...BUT and this is a big but, I have much more vinal from the UK Subs.
one of the greatest punk bands
Ummagumma absolutely.
Correction. THE greatest punk band.
Without a doubt. Dick has always been right the fuck on!
THE
Soundtrack of my youth working 5 jobs and addicted to drugs, hanging with my best friends who're all dead now.

One off the best punk bands to ever come togather
I still believe this ..
Punk rock is one of the fucking best things to grace the face of the earth.
Saw them in 2019 in Baltimore, MD - amazing show, so grateful they came here, never thought I'd see them live.
saw these guys a few years back, wish i couldve seen them in the 80's
poor Dick getting his glasses smashed. it’s hard to wear glasses at a punk show!
One of the best!
This was at the Olympic Auditorium -MDC also played that night.....great show!!!
saw them in 85 or 86 in Toronto, they still kick ass today and will always be one of my favourites

Great band, cool they're still on the road.saw them a few years back in Antwerp, great gig.
Damn! Subs were my biggest influence band in the 80's....Dick and these mates kick so much ass..I never joined the military, to fight someone else's FUCKING WAR! From 87 to 2020!! LOVE THE SUBS...LYRICALLY GENIUSES!!

This shit was so genuine and pure.

Love this!!!
Man. Effing amazing. I knew this had to be somewhere in California based on the insanity level of the kids in the crowd.
Brilliant!

Haha great!
@SkateFluckit Funny, I never heard of your book.
This looks like the Olympic in LA.
5:04 See Man Jump into Crowd. 10 - 8

It's warm, and some people like the look of leather, but not the way it's produced. It's also cheaper.
Why the hell is it so hard to find live shows of the classic band? (Besides the fact their old)
It's really hard to record a video at a punk show. Everyone's shoving you all about. Also a lot of the fans back then were on the dole so they couldn't afford a video recorder and if they did they would not bring it to a punk show.
best version of no they ever played. that song is why I love these motherfuckers
why????? 5:45
@AshPlissken Me either!
BACK THEN BOUNCERS HAD THEIR SAY, BUT NOWADAYS BOUNCERS GET KILLED BY THE FANS IF THEY DO ANYTHING TO A FAN,........many bouncers now get killed, a lot got killed,........marius(punk rules).
NO is the ultimate protest tune.
Ya you can man, you just gotta find the right venues and shows to go to. Go to the more underground venues, they let you onstage
actually kurt cobain hated jocks, back in his early days he would stop the music to make sure all the jocks got kicked out.
it doesn't matter who had the name first, it's not like they were rival bands, one as from on one side of the ocean and one was on the other side of the ocean. the Canadian Sub's had some great tunes I still have incorrect thoughts on vinal...BUT and this is a big but, I have much more vinal from the UK Subs.
i love iggy too, what's your point though?
@scabjelly So ?
see the geezer get throw off the stage - yippeee - serves you right you brute (macka B)
@SkateFluckit Gregory Alexander
i see the guitarist smoking and all i can think of is the song ashtray dirt. kind of contradictory, isn't it?
@AshPlissken But em up X-Men style Plissken! (p.s. We're all pissed off at economic groups, that's what brings us together. Isn't that cute?)
I didn't invent, I'm just explaining the concept.
There's always gotta be idiots trying to scream some nonsense into the microphone!
I heard the SUBHUMANS have a new LP coming out soon!
5:48
