Extra info and LN changes (Continued!)
0:36 - He likely wasn’t lying and would’ve been a turncoat. 1:10 - So, the LN treated this as a mystery, drawing attention to how Sylvia was described and what Kazuma lingered on (a bright earring on a specific ear, her sharp ears, resistance to Holy spells, feral yellow eyes, not a vampire, etc.) Sylvia’s one of my favorites and is pretty powerful (her dress is actually made up of the flesh of weaker demons and they gave her a cool VA with more screentime.) Her Magic Resistance is so high that she could withstand even Crimson Demons and Aqua and is a Chimera that has abilities befitting that of other monsters/demons and salvaged body parts from monsters, men, and women. 2:13 - Not as clear here, but he lost consciousness at the chapter transition which is why he panicked because he thought something happened, until she reassured him because he spared her first. 2:47 - The LN just said it was the Konami code, instead of alluding to it. 3:56 - In the scene before, they said that they’d do that if something went wrong and they kept to their word. 4:31 - This was Arue’s first appearance (but her name wasn’t given) and was Kazuma’s motivation/guilt to fix the problem, since she was sad and Megumin gave the info instead.
5:16 - Vanir and Wiz appearing here is movie original. During the run to the place, Kazuma saw the Crimson Demons fight the invincible enemy and were actually pushing her back with Teleport and run strategies, until she targeted Broccoli’s love interest. Broccoli was in despair and Soketto was sacrificing her life with her trump card, wanting him to forget her and live a happy life. As Sylvia prepared to tank the attack, Soketto used Teleport and Broccoli stopped acting and left, angering both Sylvia and Kazuma. Before entering, Aqua found a Game Girl (Gameboy) made by the inventor’s ability and under the guise of world destroying weapons. 5:40 - The second OVA borrowed the backstory from this book and the twist was that it was always in Japanese, but Aqua was the one reading so Kazuma didn’t know because she said that he didn’t ask (the OVA also added that he was an M.) 5:46 - He designed the Mage Killer as a dog, but he was so bad at drawing, they thought it was a snake. 5:50 - He Captain America’d them, which made them into peak mages instead of super soldiers (it’s heavily implied that the Crimson Demons were effectively Westerners/Europeans who were massive fans of Japanese culture and their eyes changed colors to red that also glow, on top of wanting to look as appealing as possible.) 6:24 - Kazuma asked Aqua’s age and we find out that Heaven, this world, and Earth time flows differently (one month in Japan is an hour in Heaven and several months in this world, which also implied that Aqua and Eris saw the creation of this world and why Kazuma called her a grandma.)
6:56 - As cool as the movie only Kamehameha was, I prefer the hit and runs pushing back the invincible enemy. 7:19 - She doesn’t use it in the LN and likely because she didn’t show any aptitude to use Dispel or a buffed variant (Dispel isn’t a spell used in the series either, so it’d be Magic Canceller or Break Spell.) 8:03 - In the LN, Yun Yun did this to save Komekko and it played out differently as she had a plan when she showed her card (Broccoli and Soketto snuck in with Invisibility and Teleport ready, so she ran to them and escaped.) 10:37 - This is how the fight ended and the second round is movie original (Kazuma remains under-leveled as he doesn’t get Boss Exp and didn’t die, either.) While it’s not OoC because the author likes FF, the LN instead has the village salvage True Sylvia and create tons of high Magic resistance armor and fix the damage in around three days with Magic and Golems (and forgot to mention last comment, but Vanir already guaranteed the 300 mil contract when Kazuma visited, so Kazuma will get the money later.) 18:31 - Instead of leaving the village, they stayed for another day and night and met Arue, Dodonko, and Funifura for the first time. Arue went home while the battle was going on and transcribed the entire events into a LN (Kazuma was upset that he felt guilty and was even here in the first place because of her, so he tore up her manuscript.) The third night had Kazuma and Megumin sleep together again, so she wanted Kazuma to tell her more about Japan (Kazuma told her about Valentine’s Day and White Day and how he cheated to get more chocolate than his younger brother and the importance of it to him/why he hates it, so Megumin promises to get him chocolate so he can beat his brother cleanly.)
Kazuma objects and says that she shouldn’t give chocolate to someone she doesn’t like and she confesses that she does like him, which leads into a request from her. The next morning they run into Yun Yun and she’s getting embarrassed because she’s praised for being Chunni and encounter Dodonko and Funifura who apologize for their behaviors. They ‘flirt’ with Kazuma, which causes Megumin to tell them to ‘not flirt with her man.’ She tells them their relationship and all three girls run away flustered and jealous of Megumin, as the two continue the request in the forest (the 120 pts Explosion request/scene was done here instead of Axel and Megumin was at her lowest because her reveal of Explosion branded her a failure of a mage in the village.) Kazuma also confirms that this was what Vanir was talking about, so he chose the Megumin route and surprised readers who thought this was a true harem or no romance series (later the community realized the foreshadowing and saw how much he told her about his past/their bonding.) 19:28 - To clarify, she has to spend 30 SP to unlock Advanced Magic (not all spells and 30 SP is years of non-stop farming with an EXP system that scales), then get proficient enough to use them effectively, so it’s either one or the other (she needs full Mana to use Explosion and restoring Mana on the go isn’t normal.) The LN once again ended on a cliffhanger leading directly into Book 6 (which had an Epilogue, where Kazuma and Megumin acted like an old couple praising each other at home and Aqua playing the Game Girl she stole.) 20:58 - As you can see what didn’t make it in, Book 5 onwards are much longer/content rich and this on top of Covid and being too successful, was why there was such a long wait because of the higher ups’ worries (and Konosuba ended a year later, so they didn’t have a continuing LN series to promote with the anime.) Seemingly they’re no longer doing the 10 episode Seasons and they have a better control on pacing, so they might be able to animate Book 6 & 7 without too many cuts/changes.

I'm really sad that one of the biggest parts of the LN, the Kazumin development, suffered the most in the cuts for the movie.

@@thewingedserpent5823 Yeah, that was sad. Hopefully, get some hint towards it or flashback in a later season.

Fun fact: in light novel battle was ended with that railgun shot. The rest is anime-only stuff

When Megumin asked Kazuma to press the button on her explosion magic, she would not have lost it. But it would have ben sealed on the status quo with no chance to further improve it. Since her dream was the "perfect explosion", doing so would have been to sacrifice her dream behalf of becoming more versatile like Yunyun or the other crimson demons.
But Kazuma was in that scene a good boy and instead of sealing it, he used her spare points to boost her explosion magic...

It could have made half a season. Each season is two books and this movie covered one book.

I would suggest to watch Kaguya-sama Love is War. It has similar comedic vibe to Konosuba.

I think Komekko have a high chance to surpassed her sister Megumin.

Komekko is a true talent - both in magic as well as in showing off - something that always hindered Yunyun to be fully acknowledged by her kin, since it embarased her to do so.
