The Blues…

One of my mentors from waaaay back in the day said something to me that I’ve never forgotten, “Charlie, I don’t care what type of music you play, just make sure you play the blues in there!!” Those words have always informed the way I improvise.
Was great to play some straight ahead acoustic jazz last night. This was an event for, School of Jazz @ NSA. It was so much fun to play with Uli Geissendoefer (pno), Steve Flora (bs), Larry Aberman (drs), legendary educator Justin DiCioccio (sitting in on drum), and Christian Tamburr (sitting in on piano).
