@@goon.1 I honestly dont feel comfortable using anything less than 43:1. As I mentioned I to think they are suggesting 60:1 and lean ratios like that for environmental tax reasons. But its just not healthy for the motor at all.
@@goon.1as As a 2 stroke mechanic for 50 years, a safe ratio is 40 to 1. Do not use 50 or 60 to 1. Screw the factory recommendation. For 200 cc and smaller 2 stroke motors I recommend 32 to 1.

Been doing this racing/ riding for 50 years and haven’t listened to anyone explain this in simpler terms ever. Helping others to keep the costs down when a lot don’t want to listen is very kind Thank you 🙏
So much good info in this video. I’ve been riding 2 strokes since the early 90s and figured I knew all I needed to know about premix and jetting. Much of what you covered I didn’t know at all. In fact, I have always ran 40:1 thinking it was the optimal amount for us semi-fast guys. Now I know otherwise. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Ive been out of dirt bike riding for quite a while (late 1970s) and finally coming back. No competition, just trail riding, medium speeds with the occasional full throttle blast. I have an MK5 (1971-1972), 125 Bultaco pursang and a 1979 Husky 250cr with a 390cr engine in it while the original engine gets reassembled. Your vids have helped bring me back up to speed with jetting and premix. Way back when, I was a fan of Golden Spectro and have begun my dirt adventures with a fresh bottle. You have certainly given me much to think about! Thanks!
Just stumbled onto your channel a few weeks ago and I’ll have to say I’ve learned a shit Ton about 2 strokes I thought myself versed but dang well done the knowledge and explanations are really on point thank you I am gonna watch every single video.
Awesome review man. Tons of old school jetting info and useful information. One thing about the carb, most 2t have a drain bolt at the bottom of carb, always drain the gas from carb if storing bike, and what I do is take a teaspoon full of 2t oil and put it down the spark plug hole which keeps the top end lubed when your ready to start bike again. Even says so in manual.
Good to see, you don't see many people talking about oil migration. The best way to see if you are using the right amount of oil for your riding style is to measure the residual oil with a stick. Barbecue skewers work well. With top end off dip the stick to the bottom of the crank. Should be 2 - 3mm of residual oil.
Great video, most people don't understand air fuel raito vs fuel oil raito. Now mostly technical trail ridding I got 1150 hours out of my 250 ktm cylinder and crank . Thats with meticulous jetting and air filter maintenance of course running Maxima super M at 40 to 1. If I was running higher rpm I might go a little richer.
Great video man, thanks for the clear explanation! It makes sense about the excess oil in the crank. I switched to 20% castor oil and have to go up 1 or 2 jet sizes to keep my current temps. (Fully built Air cooled, 2stroke scooters).
I’ve always ran 40:1 on my kids bikes from 50s to now 85s. Well he’s gotten WAY faster and is wringing the 85. I was nervous to up the ratio because I didn’t want to have to change jetting which I thought was required. Now I know better. Will try 32:1. Great video!
Nice video. For 2017 - 2022 KTM 300 XC's 2 stroke we run 60:1 (KTM also spec this) for trail riding for 150+ hours before taking the top end apart to inspect. We use Motorex or Motul oils. I use a boroscope via the sparkplug hole and exhaust port occassionally just to have a perk inside. 125cc bikes more oil. The smaller the motor the more oil in the premix. And as you say more oil when racing and steady wide open rpms. Also run 50:1 and 60:1 for YZ250's for trail riding, no racing. We are not fouling plugs. Back in 1996 times we ran up to 80:1 of Optimate2 and the bikes ran 1 and 2 years long and looked like new inside when torn downthe apart and inspected. At that time racers used up to 100:1 of the Optimate. I agree more oil = slightly more power and makes the motor carburate richer as there is less gas as more oil is displacing gas per droplet. Do not forget to repack the exhaust silencer as it gets filled with oily spoog over time and this make the bike sound louder but at the same time the bike produces less power.
The term "rich and lean" describes an engines' A/F ratio. It has nothing to do with oil. Adding oil displaces gas and causes your engine to run leaner because there is less fuel to air. Less oil means more fuel and a less vicious fluid that flows better, which increases the amount fuel to air.
Thanks for explaining why there was a *huge* blue cloud when I’d take off in the morning when riding the F7 (Kawasaki)… It was oil injection, and I was running “Torco T2 injection” oil…
I’ve only ran 927 at 32:1. Never any issues at all, but it does gum everything up lol. I’m going to try out your K2!! Thx for the info! Always great videos
Thanks. Yeah can't got wrong with 32:1 and dam does 927 smell great! K2 is really good though overall. Doesn't smell amazing like 927 but is good and clean and I've learned to trust it
I have a 2023 YZ 250 and I've always run 32:1 so far. When I first got the bike, I ran Yamaha 2R two stroke oil and fouled a couple of plugs. Then I switched to 927 and haven't fouled a plug since. It does create some spooge, so I think I'm pretty safe. The next thing I'm going to try is knocking it back to 40:1. By the way, I ride about 80% single track and 20% fun moto laps.
Coming super soon. Gonna start with a mikuni tutorial, a tear down and explanation on its jets, needle and workings. Then one on a keihin carb. Then finally a 3rd video doing my best to explain how to jet them in. Might start the first one this week. But its going to be a 3 video series. I'm going to keep it focused on 2 strokes for now, since most 4 strokes these days are fuel injection.
1. you gain power with more oil. along with ensuring protection. low octane also makes more power. 2. synthetic esters have a low flash point. they are best suited for low RPM, casual riding. 3. Castor oils and castor blends are for high RPM riding. Their flash point is double that of synthetics. they cause carboned spooge if you dont get the EGT's hot enough to burn it off. 4. klotz smells very good.
@@UpAllNight91 I agree, the purpose of 93 octane is to avoid detonation. I have a big speech prepared covering the combustion process and cause of detonation and pre-ignition if anyone has questions.
@@palehorse7377 In my experience, if spooge is an issue then your A/F mixture is most likely too rich. bel-ray H1-R is the best oil in my experience. Top ends look phenomenal! I normally run 32:1 yamalube in my yz125, H1-R works even better at 40:1! It's more expensive than most brands, I will still always opt for it especially when breaking in a new motor - it's well worth extending the service intervals!
I must of missed it in the video. I run 32-1 on my yz85 but I mostly trail ride or just cruise down the street. There are times were i do open throttle to feel the rush. Should i stay at 32-1 or should i change to 43-1 like you mentioned on your wifes bike 13:59
Hello. If you are not fouling plugs at 32:1 then it will be ok staying at 32:1. I only leaned hers out to 43:1 because she was fouling plugs. If your not then I would say your ok.
Thanks for the info! I am gonna switch from Castor 927 to a non castor based oil ASAP. This vid explained the differences and reasons people run what they run and made the pieces fall into place for me. I don't need my power valve and pipe clogged up anytime soon. Seems like 927 is good if you race and are not scared of replacing parts or have access to a hot tank and have a factory team doing maintence. Now it's time to pick an oil.
I run 32/1 and it has work for me for years. I seen a video where someone stated that the more oil will help seal the rings to the cylinder and give slightly more compression. I run the same in my chainsaw and weed eaters. I do run gasoline and not the ethanol fuel.
Right on. 32:1 is good and safe. I'm ok burning ethanol blends as long as its used up quickly, if it sits around for longer than a week or 2 I wont use it.
That's why the ratio with more oil made more power that he mentioned. More oil seals the rings better, making more compression there for more power. I watched a dyno test years ago... I believe it was 20:1 made the most power. I settled for 32:1 in my yz250 running klotz super techniplate, never fouled a plug.. I'm no pro and usually just trail ride.. was kinda dirty tho, going to run 40:1 amsoil saber now though. I've heard nothing but good things about it.
Excellent points there and very true. I bought a 2002 rm125. It ran great but the power band just seemed weak. I do not know what kind of oil the previous owner used..but I think klotz btw it smelled. Anyway, I played with adjusting the power valves, jetting, etc. Nothing helped. Finally, I turned my attention to the exhaust. The carbon was so thick in the expansion chamber that my pinky wouldn't fit in it. I burnt the pipe out and removed all the leftover carbon. Now, the bike stands up through the gears like it should. Btw....I owe a shout-out to the guys on thumper talk for helping me figure it out. I have always run klotz super techniplate and still do. Because of your explanation I may switch to a synthetic like honda hp2.
Thanks. Wow that crazy the exhaust had that much carbon. I have seen it myself before too, on a PW50 it almost closed off the exhaust all together lol. Yeah HP2 is a good oil, burns clean for sure.
I did 24:1 with lucas semi-synthetic on a yz80, and now gonna do it with my Can Am Qualifier 250. I find it to be a very reliable mix and the lucas oil seems to work well. Some people were recommending synthetic while some were recommending non synthetic so i feel going semi was meeting in the middle and i was cool with that. After putting for a few minutes you just gotta open that throttle up and clean her out and youll never foul a plug.
Been awhile since ive own a 2 cycle bike. I just wanted to see what was said about ratios. I adjusted my 3 screws on the carb for my stihl leaf blowers. I did richin it up a tad bit. Recommended is 50:1 im running 32:1 in my blowers. Using super m oil

I learned this through experience the guy is talking sense. Also oil types. I run motul 710 as it’s jaso fd rated and it’s 25:1 - 50:1 oil so 32:1 -36:1 perfect running stock jetting
I would like to think it does but honestly don't know. I know it helped soften the landing of valves on older 4 stroke valves back in the day. I also know the lead can clog fuel injectors on 4 strokes and sticks to the top of the intake valves and plugs. So its got some mass or body to it that softens blows. But don't really know if it helps on our smokers except raising the octane rating
Great video! What is your take on spooge coming out of the exhaust? After a full rebuild I often still see plenty spooge still. How do u go about this ?
Thanks. Spooge can be normal on these bikes if they are not being riden vary hard. When the motor is worked hard the oil will be burnt up but if its not worked very hard then it doesn't get hot enough to burn up the oil, which leads to the oil working it way down and out the exhaust pipe. Obviously good jetting and running the correct premix ratio for your level of riding can help with spooge but even the best jetted bike with the leanest oil ratio can spooge if the motor is not worked very hard. I did a video on oil ratios that cover a lot on this topic if your interested here is a link... ua-cam.com/video/VovqIRO1j-c/v-deo.html
Whats your opinion on "running what the OIL manufacturers say for a ratio" versus what Yamaha says 32:1 with Yamalube? Like Amsoil Dominator says 50:1 Motorex 60:1 and so on.
I dont take what they recommend much in consideration honestly. I mean I look at it but in the end I'm going to run what I feel is best for me and my situation. 2 strokes optimal ratio really does depend on the rider, engine size, and conditions and there is no one size fits all
I ran amsoil Saber 70:1 on my boys 05 yz125. Kids hard on bikes. But that oil is no joke. We race a lot of hare and hound races up to 100 miles. Much of it through dunes and sand. He did burn up a few pistons in the steep dunes but that's just part of racing a 125. I never once put a bottom end in that bike, it's since been sold to one of ours boys friends. Still running.
Wow 70:1 is lean. Glad it worked out for you but I don't think I could ever talk myself into running that lean. I like to have confidence everything is lubed up well and pouring lots of oil in helps my monkey mind feel better. Especially when got WOT towards a huge jump on a deep sandy track.
@UpAllNight91 Saber specs are 100:1-80:1. I did it more as an experiment, but the bike ran amazing. Even when disassembling for top end maintenance. I was amazed how much oil actually still coated the crank and the power valve. Sounds ridiculous, but I dare you to try it on one of your bikes.
@@panic-revv85 Oh man dont think I'm brave enough to try a ratio that lean. I'm going on about 20 years of zero crank and piston failure and dont want to mess with success lol
I been watching a guy on UA-cam that works on a lot of chainsaw that are run hard.. he recommends 40:1 for saber. Just try it and see if he still burns a piston here and there. 🤷♂️

Been running 32 to 1 yamalube premix with straight 110 Sunoco fuel on brand new YZ250. Will straight 110 fuel hurt anything in the motor? The bike runs awesome never fouled a plug, with 18 hrs on bike. Also had a 06 CR250R and ran 100 octane Sunoco straight 32 to 1 yamalube, and every time I change the piston there was barely any carbon anywhere. That seemed like a good thing to me ? What's your thought on running pure race gas?
Hello. Straight race fuel wont hurt anything. It does burn cleaner as you have noted and it will help keep the engine cooler. It can be expensive though lol
Very good video. I use 32:1 ratio in my bikes with Bel Ray Si7 2-stroke oil. I ordered your channel. What do you think about Bel Ray Si7 oil? It´s quite low flash point oil and it has worked great for me in all my bikes and my sons bike too.
Hello and thanks! I havent used Bel Ray Si7 myself but I have worked on bikes that used it and it seems to burn good and clean. If its been working for you there is nothing wrong with continuing using it. Bel Ray has been known to make good stuff.
Another Epic Video. All the KTM guys are convinced the 50:1 ratio suggested by KTM is because Motorex is so much better than other oils. Never has anyone thought about the emissions issue being the real reason. That was a "AH HA" moment.
Motorex is a 20wt injector oil vs a 40wt premix oil like Motul 800. That alone should prove to the KTM guys that it’s not the best option to use for pre mix oils.
@@russellgarcia8024if i have a 2023 husqvarna tx300 and it recommends motorex cross power 2t at 60:1 what do you suggest i run for oil if not that and at what ratio if im about 70 percent wide open and 30 percent on decent flowy trails.
The best pre mix oils based off of my experience is Motul 800, Klotz Supertechniplate and Klotz R50. The Moteorex is mid for pre-mix but 60:1 is just too little oil for the lower end. You can and should adjust oils for the type of riding you’re gonna do.
That's depends. I have a friend use a KTM sx250 for more than 400hours maybe 500h and runs exactly 50:1 and just 4 year after all abuse he gives to her now she need some rod bearings.
Just bought a ktm 65 sx, i clean the carb. Reset all the screws and retuned it till it starts first kick cold. Im learning how to ride 2 strokes so im runnung 32:1 i do hit the power band Still starts first kick so ima not touching nothing
Hello. Yes you can with no issues. They sent them out tuned a little on the rich side on the fueling which leaves some of room to change things without any issues.
I would have to consider the viscosity of the oil as well as the flashpoint. Motul 800, great oil, fairly thick, recommends running 50:1 for MXGP on there website . I just think its takes a lot more revs than other oils to clean out. Haven't tried the k2, I'd like to give a shot though. Super M was pretty ok. Anyways another great video!
Also the motul 710 recommends 24 to 50:1 based on "manufacturers recommendations". So same brand different ratios per oil type. I don't think they would risk their reputation/money to tell ppl to run to little oil
I agree too, 24:1 to 50:1 is safe for the most part. There are riders that can just burn motors up, smoke silencers and all,, and the only cure for them is more oil.
OK so I agree with pipes losing performance over time due to the build up of pre-mix residue. Question is, should a pipe be cleaned/degreased as part of a maintenance program and how best would I do that?
I do keep the head pipe of the pipe as clean as I can. I used a cross buff on a die grinder and do that. I have heard of people taking their pipes to a speed shop here in Tampa and they hot tank the pipe like they do car cylinder heads and stuff and that works great but haven't tried for myself. I have used caustic soda (oven cleaner) to clean pipes and it does help but doesn't do a perfect job. At this point I just try to keep the head pipe clean, and also the stinger part of the pipe, use good 2 cycle oil, keep it jetted well to give it a fighting chance of staying clean and let the pipe gods have their way lol.
I reserve a hotter plug as very last resort. After all jetting is done and premix ratio is adjusted. The heat range these bikes come with is already slightly on the hotter side so I try not to go hotter if I can avoid it. However I almost always go one plug heat range colder on faster riders because they are a little on the hot side stock. For my YZ250 I used a 9 heat range (stock is 8) and for my YZ125 I use a 10 (stock is 9).
I've tried and tried to tell people that more oil means more power AND better protection. When I raced out in California in the 80's running 100 to 1 with race gas was the big thing. I never went above 32 to 1 and motors lasted forever.
@@UpAllNight91 the same thing with my sons bike it’s got about 35 hours on it now mostly woods riding though there are some roads in between the trails that hits the power band quite a bit the 2024 YZ 250 X is just amazing in the bush
Good vid. I wonder how flashpoint relates to oil fouling among synthetics. Would Amsoil Interceptor mixed 32:1 with a flashpoint of 183 be less likely to foul than say R50 at 32:1 with a flashpoint of 550?
Hmm. Thats a good question. I haven't looked into how Flashpoint effects fouling. Most oils and bikes made these days hardly foul plugs like they use to back in the days. But it can still happen, especially for slower riders
@@UpAllNight91 it would be an interesting experiment. Jet a bike rich like from the factory. Then go for a ride trying to stay on the pilot circuit. See if there is any difference in time between the 2 oils before a plug fouls.

Hello. Most of the synthetics are good at being smokeless for the most part but all can smoke of the bike is being riden easy and not kept "cleaned out". I use Maxima K2 myself and its pretty smokeless after the bike warms up
i have a rm 250 i bought from mike alessi. tony alessi his dad told me to run vp100, and motul 800 at 50:1. im a fast rider no professional by any means. intermediate rider in socal. and i went 100hrs on a crank, and 60 hrs on a top end. never had any issues blowing, or seizing my motor. piston still looked good after 60hrs, as well as cylinder walls. also crank was still good after 100hrs. but changed it anyways. i do a top end every 60 hrs, and a full rebuild at 100 hrs just to be on the safe side.
I can see 50:1 can be good for 100 hours on a 250, depending on how hard its rung out. It was mainly the smaller 125 and smaller that just don't seem to fail well that lean. But a bigger bore is more achievable. That sounds like a cool bike you got there! Bet she rips!
If he is using the motor hard I would consider 25:1, if hes just cruising around then 40:1 to 43:1 is good. And 32:1 is good if hes somewhere in the middle.
When i switched from mx to desert racing i was running darn near 7oz oer gallon in a 81 KTM495 mainly because I was wide open in any gear in the desert. But I could not run that mix if I was joy riding as it would foul the plug in minutes. Edit: this was back in the early 80s. I'm an old fart now and wouldnt be able to handle that bike now. 😊
Right on. Thats a perfect example of how the premix ratio requirement can surely change depending on how the bike is being used. I dont know how you handled that bike even back then lol. I had a 1983 YZ250 that would kick my ass lol
Okay so just to confirm. What would you suggest on a 2024 Cobra CX 50FWE? They suggest 50:1 Pump Gas Amsoil Domintator. Riding So Cal tracks in Temp 70s 80s (Its Spring) Low Humidity - Rides pretty hard.
I think the 50:1 they suggest is knowing most buyers are beginners and will be riding it slow. If parents have to change out plugs all the time it would give the bike a bad rep. But if yours is being riden pretty heard I surely would bump it up to at least 32:1. This will surely extend engine life in the long run. As long as plugs are holding up, its all good.
Hello. It can be fine and normal if the bike is being ridden easy for a little bit. However if the bike is being riden hard, like on a MX track by a faster rider then the tip of the exhaust should be nice and dry
@@UpAllNight91 If I was riding really hard and it still drips would you recommend to jet my bike leaner than it already is or to change my ratio because my bike is already lean and my ratio is 36:1, I am using castor 927. :2023 Yamaha yz85

Caustic soda (oven cleaner) kinda helps clean them but its a nasty job. I heard of people having them hot tanked at a machine shop. Me personally I just try my best to keep them fairly clean from the start. Everything you said needs to be written in every owners manual. KTM mini bikes are built to seize cranks because the oil journals are way too small to provide adequate lubrication. Small oil holes plus lean oil mixture is asking for problems.
Pick your favorite oil and mix it to 32-1 and jet your engine to that ratio and you'll have no problem. The key is here is jetting. For every ratio there will be different jetting.
@@d4ljosh859 There is no one specific jetting that fits all bikes. Every bike is different. Research some youtube videos on jetting. Start out setting your float height then pilot jet then main jet and fine tune with the needle

Something to think about is it is more important to run the recommended oil ratio per the type of oil due to the lubricity properties in each. Motorex is 40:1 - 60:1 while Yamalube is 30:1 - 40:1 as an example. I wouldn’t run motorex at 32:1 or yamalube at 50:1
Hello. That does well and ok with easier riding, trail riding, play riding and such. But what I have experienced with KTM's using motorex at 50:1 by faster track riders is premature crank wear and piston wear. They would stay alive for the most part and not catastrophically fail but the lower rod bearing would become sloppy quicker than expected, and pistons would wear quicker than expected. These where bikes that I was the mechanic for maintenance and repair. After rebuilding I instructed to run at least 32:1 for these riders and the crank and piston wear slowed down to what I could expect from a rider running them this hard. I dont think any of them wore out the second crank before they where replaced with a new year bike. On the other hand I have seen for hair scramble racers who are not able to hold them pinned corner after corner the 50:1 was generally ok. I still wouldn't suggest it but seemed to be ok.
I havent noticed oil types or oil ratios changing the jetting to any significant amount. Not a whole jet size by any means. Maybe minor but usually not to the level of a full jet size change
I'm only six minutes in and this has made more sense than any oil ratio video I've ever seen. Thanks for this.

@@goon.1as As a 2 stroke mechanic for 50 years, a safe ratio is 40 to 1. Do not use 50 or 60 to 1. Screw the factory recommendation.

Thanks man and your welcome. Thanks for the comment and feedback too.
Thanks!
Welcome back! Sounds like you have some pretty cool collectables! Them bikes are worth a lot anymore.
Really great video. Nice of you to share the knowledge. I could geek out on this all day. All part of the joys of riding dirt bikes!

Just stumbled onto your channel a few weeks ago and I’ll have to say I’ve learned a shit Ton about 2 strokes I thought myself versed but dang well done the knowledge and explanations are really on point thank you I am gonna watch every single video.
Ahh thanks man! Welcome aboard!
Thanks! And right on!
Thanks for the information. I have been chasing info on this subject for a week and you have explained it very well. Thanks buddy
Right on, you welcome! Glad to hear it was of help!
You are 100% correct
Best information / explanation I’ve seen on UA-cam

Right on! For sure if hes ripping it now 32:1 will surely be better
Brooo thank you for helping me understand oil with 2 stroke! I thought ik but you just further help me understand it better

@@yuriabmxr I'm betting 40:1 would be fine for you.
I always think of mix ratios like this: oil is cheap, engines are not. I’d much rather have a bit of smoke than a dead engine.
Thats how I see it too.
A little smoke on a cold engine tells me I didn’t forget the oil…
Look forward to the jetting vid 🤙🏻
Caster premix has a very short shelf life.
I have a 85yz bigwheel. I put 93 octane, you think if I put lower octane it would make a difference? I run 32:1 and I’m a casual ride don’t ride hard.
I would stick with 93 or higher
@@UpAllNight91 I agree, the purpose of 93 octane is to avoid detonation.
I have a big speech prepared covering the combustion process and cause of detonation and pre-ignition if anyone has questions.

bel-ray H1-R is the best oil in my experience.
Right on! I'm currently using K2 but there are lots of good synthetic premixes out there to choose from.
When a YZ guy talks I listen.
amen
Right on👍
This what I needed.

Also oil types. I run motul 710 as it’s jaso fd rated and it’s 25:1 - 50:1 oil so 32:1 -36:1 perfect running stock jetting
Any experience with leaded fuel helping to lube pistons/cranks, or it only for resisting preignition and nothing more?

Like Amsoil Dominator says 50:1
Motorex 60:1 and so on.

Hi at BDC do you think all the ports should be fully exposed and not the piston blocking anything at all.
Hello. At BDC all the ports should be exposed to the combustion chamber. At least all the bikes I have worked on.

Hi I have 23tc125 and they say to run 40:1 but can I drop the ratio with out the efi being effect is safe for it
I just think its
takes a lot more revs than other oils to clean out.
I used motul 800 for a while. Was good stuff. It did leave a red tint behind on my engines inner parts but no complaints
Great channel dude.
5:02 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 thanks!!!
I you are dealing with a slower rider, do you even choose a hotter spark plug?
Holy cow, 100:1. ! Yeah 32:1 is always good

But it can still happen, especially for slower riders

i have a rm 250 i bought from mike alessi. tony alessi his dad told me to run vp100, and motul 800 at 50:1. im a fast rider no professional by any means. intermediate rider in socal. and i went 100hrs on a crank, and 60 hrs on a top end. never had any issues blowing, or seizing my motor. piston still looked good after 60hrs, as well as cylinder walls. also crank was still good after 100hrs. but changed it anyways. i do a top end every 60 hrs, and a full rebuild at 100 hrs just to be on the safe side.
I can see 50:1 can be good for 100 hours on a 250, depending on how hard its rung out. It was mainly the smaller 125 and smaller that just don't seem to fail well that lean. But a bigger bore is more achievable. That sounds like a cool bike you got there! Bet she rips!
So what would you recommend i run my sons 65sx on he is still Pretty steady on the throttle
I use Clotz smells like cherries but good oil
Gordon Jennings would agree, less isn't necessarily more.
Sir , maxima k2 and motul witch one is better to use ? Thank you
They are probably about the same as far as end result. Both are very good and I would use either one no problem.
@@UpAllNight9110-4 thank you. Enjoying the channel!
@@nikkisun5546 Your welcome! Thanks for coming along!
Is oil coming out the tip of the exhaust okay?
@@kylephakonekham7288 Hello. I would first try to switch to a synthetic 2 cycle oil and see if that helps. Castor 927 is known to spoog out the exhaust if not ran very very hard and hot. Maybe try Maxima K2
hello how much oil ratio should i use with my 50cc yamaha mbk nitro scooter? im using ipone samourai racing 2t premix
I honesly have no experience with that bike and cant really say. But cant go wrong with 32:1 as a good safe ratio.
How do you clean out inside of the exhaust pipes?
Caustic soda (oven cleaner) kinda helps clean them but its a nasty job. I heard of people having them hot tanked at a machine shop. Me personally I just try my best to keep them fairly clean from the start. I go scrub off any carbon I can reach and can be seen when I have the pipe off and for the most part the pipe will do good for a long life.
@UpAllNight91 thanks for the info 👍
@@Floridawoodsbanshee Right on!
What gear oil do you recommend for bikes
SAE80W GL-3/4 gear oil or 10W/40 Mineral Engine Oil.
I use shell rotella 15-40. Its a good oil for the price.
Hey can you run klotz r50 for technical hard enduro or trail riding ? Some say it has high flash point you should avoid some say you can run it will be fine just jet accordingly? Whats your thought 40:1 yz250x yamahalube right now i am running with jd jetting .
Yamalube 2R is a good oil. 40:1 is good for technical trail riding. I used Yamalube 2R for years with no issues and would use it again no problem.
@@UpAllNight91 klotz smells great . And want to change oil i got bored with yamaha oil . Should i avoid klotz r50 or klotz super techniplate?
@@safeerhuseyin1180 I think you will be ok. As long as your not fouling plugs it will be good.
How do you feel about synthetic klotz?
Hello. I have never used Klotz myself and have no experience with it. But I do hear good results from others. Just haven't tried it myself.
Wouldn’t running more oil cause it to be leaner because when it drops the oil there is less fuel I’m mix?
So how does it not change jetting
@@SethMacgillivaryIn theory yes. But when I have changed oil ratios I havent noticed much of a jetting change, not enough to change it a full jet size at least.
@@UpAllNight91 ohh ok thank you and so this is how 2 strokes work the second the fuel air comes into motor it turns into a Vapor instantly and drops the oil into bottom end?
@@SethMacgillivaryYes thats right
What’s your take on klotz r50?
I honestly don't have any experience with R50. But I do know a few riders who use it and seems to do well. There are lots of good oils out there these days. I only showed the ones I have direct experience with either on my own bikes or on bikes that where serviced by me .
Great video man! Love the information along with your explanations on every part! I really appreciate your time on putting this info out there. Ty
Thanks and your very welcome! Glad the video was of help!
@@UpAllNight91 What's your feelings on PJ1 2 stoke oil? If you've had any experiance with it? Just interested?
@@sgg8970 I honestly have no experience with the PJ1 2 cycle oil. I wasn't even aware they made smoker oil.
@@UpAllNight91 oh ya. I bought an older 1990 cr250 I've still got, some years back. The guy I got it from used PJ1 so I kept using it. Out of all the oils I've used and tried that stuff agreed with my bike the best? Thanks for the reply. Stay safe my friend
@@sgg8970 Right on. I'm sure its good and safe, PJ1 usually makes good products and have been around forever. You stay safe too and appreciate ya! Enjoy that 1990 CR250, them are rare machines anymore!
Everything you said needs to be written in every owners manual. KTM mini bikes are built to seize cranks because the oil journals are way too small to provide adequate lubrication. Small oil holes plus lean oil mixture is asking for problems.
Yeah, KTMs ratio recommendations are surely crazy lean. Them ktms that where running 50:1 kept burning up cranks and frying pistons lol
Pick your favorite oil and mix it to 32-1 and jet your engine to that ratio and you'll have no problem. The key is here is jetting. For every ratio there will be different jetting.
So what’s the jetting for 32-1
@@d4ljosh859 There is no one specific jetting that fits all bikes. Every bike is different. Research some youtube videos on jetting. Start out setting your float height then pilot jet then main jet and fine tune with the needle
@@d4ljosh859depends. Stock jetting works perfectly in my 2023 yz250. What is your bike doing wrong?
@@westadam8890 yea I have

So 120 ML oil to 3.8 Liters gas for the canadians. I think that's correct for 32:1
Is Klotz a good oil?
Never used it before but I do hear good things about it from users.
At 20:40 you said to keep oil from sticking to parts, don’t you want it to be sticking to your parts?
What I meant was castor based oils it leaves a carbon stuck to the parts. This carbon is really hard to clean off the power valve
@@UpAllNight91 ohhh ok
Klotz r50 good oil?
I haven't never tried it myself and I have no experience with it but I have heard good things about it from others.
1-50 2% good for yz250 ?
Im sorry I never heard of that brand or type of premix,
@@UpAllNight91 I mean, this is an excellent 1-50 ratio for the YZ250
Gotta love the voice effects ring ding dingggg, blah blah blah lol

Don't you jet for the oil your going to use?
I havent noticed oil types or oil ratios changing the jetting to any significant amount. Not a whole jet size by any means. Maybe minor but usually not to the level of a full jet size change
I’m a 2 stroke expert now
😅👍
For us metric guys we just divide 1000 by the desired oil ratio. This gives you ml per liter.
1000/32= 31.25 ml of oil per liter
