Glad it was helpful, I faced something new recently where cables are in and working, but because slot 7 is far enough away from the CPU the motherboard has redriver chips to forward weak signals. So even if you have a good cable, it could be just too far from GPU to CPU physically.
Next time I mess with it I'll keep this in mind to show you how it is. The Cobolt has no issues running x16 and PCIe 4.0, very good cable but a bit messy given the individual wires.
Hi there, I'm looking into this PCIe 5.0 cable. I have a B550i Aorus MB and 3080 in a Meshlicious. When I reset BIOS it always resets to gen 4 and my current riser is only capable on gen3 so I have to take out MB and insert graphics card outside of the case then set it to gen3, A big hassle. I was wondering if you have tested the 5.0 cable on a more powerful GPU to see if it can do at least gen 4 speeds. If so what speed?. Thanks.
I have other similar AVA5 cables that are 90 degrees on one side that I use with 4090s. These work pretty well and better than the past Linkup PCIe 4.0 Ultra cables. I get about 25.40 GB/s with the older Ultra, but with the newer AVA5 the signaling is better and get around 26.00 GB/s transfer when benchmarking. For your problem, I think if you do a BIOS reset it defaults to Auto or PCIe 4.0 and there probably isn't a good solution for that. But since you have a 3080 this should be PCIe 4.0 and think if you are having problems where it isn't being seen as PCIe 4.0 the cable could be the problem. Having a 3080 run at PCIe 3.0 is 4.0 is halving the potential transfer rate, but from what I understand is maybe just a 5% reduction in FPS or something like that. For me though I paid for PCIe 4.0 so want to use that feature with my GPUs.
Yes the Cobolt cable is very good but if you want another cable the Linkup AVA5 works also. I probably could have lived with just the cobolt cable, but went down the road of seeing if I can get a white cable... I know useless and vain...
Excellent insights. I've been battling with this issue with a near identical setup. Thanks!

would be good to see the cobalt with x16

Dude you have the best cable its the velkase colbste..it's the bedt u can get u don't need pcie 5
