Man I remember the early BBS trailers they had Terra and Ventus using commands back to back without any delay and was really disappointed you couldn't do it in the final game. Glad this mod exists to make it possible.

I think they figured that it would have been rather overpowered to be able to seamlessly combo commands into one another. Not even KH2 lets you combo from one option into all other options, as certain combat tools only combo into a small list of specific other combat tools (varies by tool), though not every tool in that game is even usable as part of a combo.
So it basically plays like Re:coded now. I really wish the motherboard on my pc didn't just fry so I could try it out...
so they just made the game better

you can also tell BBS was definitely not balanced with combo strings in mind (though the idea of BBS being unbalanced is nothing new lmao)
Hopefully Xendra will be able to fix those problems in DDD too, though I imagine it would be a bit harder with how stagger works in that game.
I'd pray for whoever tries to fix DDD
@@monane8706 interestingly, DDD seems to have a super armor system (or reaction durability as referred to by Usagi) where they'll stagger after taking enough hits. However, different attacks reduce the super armor by different amounts, so it's hard to estimate when they'll stagger. Additionally, Spellican, Young Xehanort, and Xemnas are the only bosses who will continue to stagger from further attacks once their super armor is down, but only for a period of time (about 3 seconds).
@@monane8706 I have a nearly working animation cancelling mod for DDD but it's missing the final part (forcing inputs to make you cancel into an action instead of into neutral), but i havent really continued working on it
@@Xendra Hoping that you'll eventually get it to work, though I imagine the stagger system would also need a revision to pull off consistent combos. Really love all the work you've done on KH1 Critical Mix and BBS animation cancelling, I really appreciate it!

My favorite experience imo
If I had a PC, this is a game I'd like to mod cause the combo potential is there. Og BBS is too awkward for me to try combos with 😭 and that's a shame cause there are so many commands worth using for flashy combos.
and then there's shenanigans like basically turning zantetsuken into za warudo or command storage shenanigans letting you spam the same command over and over even if its on cooldown

I hope Square has this rubbed in their faces, at the very least to make sure they don't get it into their heads that all they have to do is wait for the fans to pick up their slack.
To be honest Osaka Team has pretty much proven they learned their lesson with KH3, though it would be interesting to see how they'd handle a new Command Deck game. Gotta remember this game came out in 2011 and a lot of the stuff it tried was new and experimental at the time, so it wasn't fully fleshed out.
@@unnamed7485 First time, sure, but their garbage should've at least be cleaned up when they ported it off handheld and onto consoles. And it's not like they couldn't have ever patched the game even once during all the time they've had up until now.

does anyone know how to get this mod working on steam deck
it's not possible to play this mod on steam deck with openkh, the only lua scripts that worked were critical bonuses and instant race finish

I'm sure people have asked before, should I use this mod on my first playthrough?
It sounds like the mod does nothing but improve upon combat, but I'm curious if it'd screw over a first timer.
I'd always recommend playing a game without mods that change the gameplay the first time, maybe you'll find that things that annoy other people aren't that important to your experience.
Having said this this mod does make the game a lot less stiff so I'd recommend starting the game and using it if you feel the controls get on your nerves. You can turn the mod on and off at any time you can change the experience whenever you feel most comfortable.
