I can't count how many of these boards and CPU's we threw away a few years ago, (several hundreds). Kinda cool to see people bring these things back to life and mess about with them!
AMD Opteron socket 940 was a painful motherboard , very difficult to get video signal , I've spent years trying to make my brand new dual opteron motherboard output video signal with no luck . I trashed it . I learned years later from a youtuber that it required a specific type of Ram to make it working
this is very relaxing to watch - thanks for the video!
si no te entiendo una shit pero concuerdo con lo que dices
The time when "quad core" actually meant 4 physical CPUs, with heatsinks in four separate sockets. And the CPUs had to be compatible with each other.
I remember having a dual Celeron motherboard in the early 2000s. it was a very strange thing.
I got ahold of an Intel Skulltrail board a few years ago, built an ultimate 2000's gaming beast, 2x core2 extreme, 2x geforce 9800 gtx, 16gb of blazing fast 800mhz ram... The system i dreamed of having in 2008 😂
And yes it runs crysis 😂😂
It actually sits on the bench in my garage and i use it to run my cnc plasma cutter and router table, more than enough power to run those few programs every once in a while, plus i have it hooked to my shop speakers to use as a fancy ipod, was my dream computer when it came out so when i came across the board cheap on facebook marketplace i just had to buy it and build that rig i wanted back then 😊
@@Greg1096 that actually isnt that bad XD. Practically a 8 core cpu @ 3 ghz, not bad
Wow never expect to see this hardware again in my life. Thanks to materialize my old dreams.
full stress and gaming with this setup in new video here: ua-cam.com/video/SeRoA3ley-I/v-deo.html

Mé nejvlhčí nápady z dětství na tvém kanále dostávají reálný rozměr.
Again good JOB!
Amazing as always!
Yoo dude, you are amazing, nice video again. 🤟🏽🔥
This is crazy. Nice job
Awesome work.
Beautiful Video! :D
Good job!
a 3D Prophet 4500 was one of the first cards I ever pulled out of a trashpicked machine back in the day. It was abysmal for many different things... but it was a good card to use for a framebuffer.
I mean, that is what it always was, right? A glorified frame buffer? That is how it worked, delaying every frame by a frame so it could purge everything not visible before finally rendering?
ALUCINANTE, gran vídeo.
your Videos Perfume for my Eyes amazing stuff
man i love soldering and cap changing
Nice video & wait for next video 😍😍😍
Excelente video
What a beauty!
What a beast! :D
Your soldering skills are excellent, great skill to have when rescuing old hardware, and those Kyro-s are worth saving :)
my skill is average ... in fact everything works
@@RETROHardware
Well i cant solder a microswitch to mouse, so by my standards your skills are out of this world.
I had found a slot 1 Asus P2B motherobard years ago and it was with badcaps, i keep it for years hoping to repair it, but at the end i could not, and after that i never ever found another P2B AT style motherboard.
Thanks for pinup and thanks for saving all of that hardvere someone, will find it useful.
@@RaPtOr9600find a few junk circuit boards and practice, it isnt as difficult as you would think, i did industrial machinery repair and a lot of the machines i worked on were discontinued, so i taught myself how to micro solder so i could repair parts that there werent replacements for.
Muy buen Video. Siempre interesante cada componente que Mostras y como Lo reparas. La verdad que Increíble
Awsome machine....
The Real Quad core...
Wow... amazing
Great video. This must been a crazy monster system back in the days. Doubt it would have worked properly with Win XP with all the cores. More of a server than a game machine? Would have love a future video on the OS it runs on and playing some games.
Un deleite para los ojos ver estás motherboars y gpu y todo apenas encontré tu canal y me he suscrito simplemente maravilloso sigue así Broth 😉
Excelente trabajo!!
very Relaxing video
Old school throw back
For that quad CPU board you should go with some server operating system. Server 2003, 2008 or something like that. Then you have higher probability of getting compatible drivers for this beast
I think linux also worth try. The newest version of Ubuntu is running on my Huawei P8 (2015) phone. I want to see this thing rendering in Blender.
Linux is absolutely out of my way
@@RETROHardware @RETRO Hardware this computer most probably will not work well with games, because multi cpu configuration have huge latency between parts very often resulting in lag or decreased performance. So my point is you have RIG that is not suitable for gaming, but it is surely beast for Rendering and raw compute calculations that can utilize all cpus. In my personal experience Linux is way faster in that at least in Blender and DaVinvi Resolve s. My s775 system was way faster with modern Linux compared even with windows XP and Windows Vista (paired mechanical Hard drive) and most important the system is fully usable for modern internet browsing and apps.
this setup is server stuff ... reason why I want to try gaming :-) Linux is good for work or server of course ... I’am doing april things = XP and 7 best OSs for me :-)
That's certainly a beast, and I know where to send my stuff needing fixing! I don't know what people have against the 4500. It took a different approach. Has good image quality, I'm using one in a machine. Fair enough it lacks hardware TnL but I quite like them.
that computer is what I used to dream about 11 years ago
Amazing
insane
Such Amazing
Damn those beep beep sound brings back memories of AMD K7, and Intel socket 7 building years.
holy hell i need that one :)
Wish I knew what I did wrong with my attempt with the Asus A8V Deluxe... I was able to extract the capacitors without issue; but trying to install the new ones? forget it. It would never stick. That aside, _your_ soldering skills are very zen to admire and observe. Well done :)
On an upside, I was then able to get myself an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. nForce3 Ultra, erased the sins of the VIA board.
WooooW !!!! 😮
thanks
ITS HUGEEEEE
Este video me dio pena y nostalgia... pasé por tantos equipos grandiosos que me costaron mucho como grandiosos momentos y hoy en día ya no están mucho se regalaron por ya no poder realizar las tareas actuales pero se quedaron en mi corazón...
i just had a complete nerdgasm......
This and SLI back then. Absolutely crazy...
that is a monster 😱😱😱😱😱
Top
So, this is an update of what's been going on in your lab lately, right? I liked the variety and approve of this format!
everything here is random, I have no schedule :-) I want to test PCI cards on this setup but how I said ... drivers or OS can be problem so will see
It will do for now on that MB. But KZG series caps should be all replaced.
True! All of them will die soon even if they are not bulged now.
depend on series, some was completely defekt after year some are good after 20 years
If few failed, they are definitely defective. KZGs have terrible reputation. Changed a lot of them.
@@RETROHardware It depends on the circuit. They are the same series since they are from the same motherboard. Some circuits on the motherboard draw greater current while others very little and that is why some caps bulge sooner than others.
Mmmmmmm kyro. Therrrrrre great 👌
Would love to see dual or quad set up on benchmarks
Ahoj tak to je dobrý masakr :D #CZ
Wow.. I had opteron 146 and 160 for about 20 yrs ago. It was really fast back then. 854 must be single core cpu for multi socket board. And It would be slower then one core 2 quad cpu for performance wise. But it is fun to watch old system which was powerful back then!
Gamers heaven :D
Evil Kyro, haha
Try running Server 2003 x64 on that Opteron setup!
official support is around XP 64bit or 2003 ... will try all ... WIN7 too (there will be problem with drivers for chipset)
@@RETROHardware you could try to use "driver booster" for it, i think it will find some drivers for it
I used Windows SBS 2011 for my quad Opteron setup.
I preserve the same MB as it the fastest CentOS 3.9 hardware. For W2003R2 i using a quad 4x6 core barcelona.
@@RETROHardware No problem with the drivers from what I've read. The 7 install info clearly states that Windows will happily and "automatically" download all the drivers a user will need... 8oO OH SNAP! Never mind :)
That's a mammoth motherboard! Might be a good Windows 2000 or XP machine with the multi CPU's.
Wow
Multi cpu socket motherboard sure are interesting and fun maybe try an pci to pci-e or agp adapter :)
молодец
tremendo mounstro
It's beautiful :) But I'd love to put water cooling on something like that. :D
should try some socket 940 FX chips or some dual core opterons from that era. (believe socket 940 was the first socket for mult core opterons.)
10:47 that post code traumatized me last year. i have an msi k9n neo v2 that outputs the same code if the graphics card is not pushed upwards with a stick. drove me crazy for a month trying to figure out what was the problem and i still don't know what it is but at least i made it work again.
😍😍😍😍😍 omg
The quapteron
I thought this was going to be one of those quad 16 core opteron setups lol
Is this even still eatx or even bigger? But one thing its so cool 😍
lol, I also recapped the same exact Kyro 4000XT last October.
The card still sucks tho.
Whoa are those Hercules Kyro AGP cards on the left corner in the beginning?
Looks like the hardware will work with win 2k. Win xp and 98SE
It would be great if you talked more in your vids. Please do..
Can you please tell me what was the wire thing with the attached button you used to switch on the pc???
1990s - = my first steps
Uau!
If those are Full speed (133 mhz) 64 Bit PCI-X slots, it might be worth it to try a PCI-X to PCI-E bridge adaptor on that board, A fast half height (Say a GTX-750ti or a HD-7770) GPU might do nicely on a true quad core setup.
I want this Machen
i have never seen a motherboard with 4 cpu's, until now.
It Just like Itanium Processor and 64-Bit x86 Xeon Processor from 2005.
maybe i looked away, but how did you go from opterons with no agp slots to dealing with old AGP on a board unrelated to the topic at hand?
Please do some old pda vids do a hp jornada 680 or something
Never seen a 4 socket AMD before. I wish their new cpus would come in 4 socket
@Jeroen excellent pointn
You know the thing is old when the chips look like commodore 64 ram
Mam takovou otázku k zamyšlení. Myslíš že by dotoho šla nějak narval pcie gpu i kdyby přes reciver ty tentononc k těžení? Diky
I have one Yamaha 8424S SCSI CDR-W external + board PCI-SCSI card, if you are interested, it is in good condition and working...
El que tiene plata la gasta como quiere 😎
Is this how cavemen achieved quad core CPUs?
Edit: The part where he wiggles the heatsink to get it off of the CPU reminds me of when I pulled out my Ryzen 2600 with heatsink because the thermal paste had turned into glue after 4 months and I had to heat it with a blow dryer to get the CPU unstuck.
amo assistir videos assim, um dia vou aparender a reparar componentes !
Well, where is the repair of the panel with the flashing dial? Changing the paste, lubricating the fan and re-soldering the capacitors is the basic level for any beginner.
I'm watching from Turkey, it will be clearer if you add subtitles, thank you
im waiting for quad socket8 with black things in it
Cool! Those are basically 4x Athlon64 FX-57, which PCI video card are you gonna use?
all what I have in storage ... will see what is possible put on it ... from TNT2 to GT610
How do you know exactly which capacitors are bad?
Where do you get all this stuff?!
You should wear some nitrile gloves when opening a power supply.
Когда-то это было хорошее железо.
11:30
World's oldest GPU Backplate lmao
How many processor did u use there?
Very cool video....but,the real question is,can it run Google Chrome???
if i had that 4 cpu board back in the day ........ my friends world have called me a god! lol must have cost a fortune.
Ahoj, tak toto uz je fakt p**no... ,
toto je fakt video ktere dokazu ocenit ,skoro kazde video musim dokoukat do konce a tohle nema ani Linus takový matro.. :D, mohl bych poprosit u videii vice přidat benchmark ? :3 napr 1% low, frametime graph atd... kdyz bude samozrejmě mozno rozject afterburner....
prosim moc pokračujte ve vašich videích tohle je pro mě každodenní ,,orgasmus'' co děláte :)
Love form pakistan
