The Rascals were one of the best groups of the 60's. I always wondered what Eddie Brigati brought to the group - now I know. I know he also co-wrote many of their hits. Great rendition of Since I Fell For You.
They played my senior prom at Chaminade in 1966 at the Huntington Town House and it was memorable. Felix Cavaliere said at our 50th reunion that it was the only prom they ever played. My girlfriend was in love with Eddie Brigati so we followed them over LI as they were local boys. Each time was better than the last. Such great live performers. Special memories.
I won the album 'Collections' by the Young Rascals when I first went away to college in (OMG! Do I dare say it?) 1967. I answered a question on the college radio station. 'Collections' became one of my favorite albums. I still have it.
Edward Franklin Joseph Brigati, Jr. was my main man for many years in those days. He said, "Find peace within yourself and live in the general area of a good, progressive direction." Eddie, I will always remember you!
Great clip. Thanks for sharing. Otis Redding once poked his head into their Atlantic recording studio and cracked, "I just wanted to see for myself if you guys were white."
All your songs are awesome! I loved you for years: I spent many times mr. Cornish at your fathers bait shop on Hudson ave....Love you forever!..John Rapp
I went to see them live in 1967 in Montreal. I have a cassette recording somewhere of the show. They were fantastic. I bought Collections not after. My band must have done 4-5 songs off that LP ( album). Great stuff.
kandy langford god- awful costumes??? I don't think so.Sid Bernstein ,the manager of this band, was right.god -awful costumes are what a shit band "kiss" was dressed up in back in the late seventies, minus any shred of musical talent.Teddy Nugent hanging from a sling in live shows, now that is carnival barker crap also.I play Hammond Organ, and guitar...just so you know.
Yes, he did and it's too bad Felix took all the hits except for How Can I Be Sure. This should have been a single. Oh my, Eddie. I crushed on you back in junior high and I'm crushing again.
@MultiCooljerk ...When I was in grade school, my mother played a lot of jazz alums and among them were Jimmy Smith and Jack McDuff and they knew exactly how to make an organ sound sexy...As much as I loved the Rascals, this is the first time, I'd heard Eddie sing and loved it. I didn't pay enough attention to Felix's organ playing because of that.
The legendary Rascals and Eddie Brigati Jr sings his heart out... Since I Fell for You (by Woodrow Buddy Johnson) You made me leave my happy home You took my love, now you’ve gone Since I fell for you Let me tell you about love Brings such misery and pain, yeah I guess I’ll never be the same Since I fell for you It’s too bad, and it’s too sad But I’m in love with you You love me, then you snub me But listen, babe, what can I do, yeah I’m still in love with you Oh, I guess I’ll never see the light, no I get those blues most every night Since I fell for you, ah I get those blues most every night Since I fell for you Yeah, since I Since I fell for you, girl Yeah
The original Rascals will be appearing on Broadway in NYC the entire month of April 2013. I saw them live in Buffalo, NY in 1968, and cannot wait to see them again! This sounds like a Jersey Boys type show, so it should be awesome with the Rascals and all their great songs.
WOW Wonderful performance of a great ballad by one of the best groups of all time. What's with tongolelena? Doesn't seem to appreciate a great performance.
Eddie was a little guy, but he had a great physique. Broad shoulders tapered to a small waist and very toned arms. Wowza! At 5' 9" I would have towered over him. Such a cutie.
Thanks! I read where Steve Van Zandt (Springsteen's E Street Band) got them together for some concerts this past December on the east coast. If you hear of any more, please let us know!
Also, check out the jazz guitar work from Gene Cornish in this clip...it is live folks, and no shitty crap "tech" fake "Reality"needed.Gawd almighty this band was totally underatted!!! ,except in my Greece Ny neighborhood, right around 1967.Not for nothing,if you were a local band in Rochester Ny,and you did not sound like these dudes, and have a B-3 and at least one Leslie, you were shit, and relegated to playing "Weddings and Parties" for the old farts.Just sayin...
Not a clown outfit. O.o Fyi, the Young Rascals wore their signature 'Lord Fauntleroy' outfits until late '67, when lots of other bands who wore 'early English/British Invasion' dress updated to the mod/hippie style. (ie Paul Revere & The Raiders, Moody Blues, New Colony Six, etc)
B uppy - Yes, I agree that the uniform look was popular. It wasn't a buccaneer (pirate) shirt, but as I described above... taken from this page on their website: www.therascalsarchives.com/history/essay.htm
Jeebus christ...talent at last!!! No fake assed "light show" or bass player needed!!! Hell have "Kiss" or "Bay City Rollers" heard this!!! How's about the "Rolling Stones"??
I'll take the Lenny Welch version over this any day. But The Rascals were my favorite band circa '67/'68 and I was very fortunate to see them in concert. They were fabulous!
Hello Kevin... No I do not what to upset anyone... It was just my own opinion... and I do not mean anything negative on any of thee other band members too... Eddie just stands out for me. sorry you see it differently.
How fine? How real does it have to be before it gets left to Be? Black white or in between; Life is our share and joy is what we have For a change . A real and a thoughtful change ... Ev'a Thang!
In an early fan magazine, there was an interview with the Rascals in which they were asked to name their favorite food. Eddie, Feliz and Dino all answered "Italian". Gene answered "Italian. It HAS to be!" I guess that means we know where they all went to eat after a gig.
Although this was a cover, nevertheless, Eddie was the an the principal songwriter for the group. Unfortunately, he was not a frontman who had the presence that was prevalent in the late 60's for a band to be successful. Felix couldn't carry the band in the background on an instrument that was never considered sexy. Gene, well he was average, at best for the day. Dino was great but...a drummer.
This brother has soul. In fact, they all do.
The Rascals were one of the best groups of the 60's. I always wondered what Eddie Brigati brought to the group - now I know. I know he also co-wrote many of their hits. Great rendition of Since I Fell For You.
Nothing but talent on that stage!
Luv'd that Eddie did it his soulful way. Cute also.
I love their ending of this song. "Since I FEEEELLLL for you!"
Wow...so much soul!
I won the album 'Collections' by the Young Rascals when I first went away to college in (OMG! Do I dare say it?) 1967. I answered a question on the college radio station. 'Collections' became one of my favorite albums. I still have it.
Eddie is my cousin from Garfield NJ I Italian Soul at its best!!!
Is he still with us... What a talent. Respect.
Oh yea! At the time of this song there wasn't any singer on the planet that could interpret the feel of this song like that Brigati boy.
@@tacogillespie4561 Amen!
Very cool! I saw the Rascals live many times in Minneapolis. All great concerts. Eddie always sang beautifully!
Just seeing and hearing this for the first time, fantastic! Italian soul!!!!! Great group, love their sound and energy!
Happy birthday, Eddie B! Always luv U & the Rascals!
Legendary Masterpiece from Eddie Brigati, 100% Italian, Hall of Fame music at its very best

They had so much soul they were giving it away!!
What a voice! One of greatest bands ever!
They could make anything sound great.
Bravo!👏🏻Thank goodness for film. Underrated vocalist. He was/is superb.

Beautiful cover...God they were so talented....
TheIrishrogue68 They are still that talented in 2015...a little older, and fatter, but they still kick it better than anybody ....just sayin...
Mike Douglass Show was actually really good….had a lot of great talent on….and it aired in the afternoon where I am.
Edward Franklin Joseph Brigati, Jr. was my main man for many years in those days. He said, "Find peace within yourself and live in the general area of a good, progressive direction."
Eddie, I will always remember you!
Franklin? Lol. No.
Great clip. Thanks for sharing. Otis Redding once poked his head into their Atlantic recording studio and cracked, "I just wanted to see for myself if you guys were white."

So cute they are a killah band! EAST COAST!

+Stew Atkin Time Peace was one of my first albums from a group other than The Beatles!
beautiful cover
Lenny Welch did a Very Good version of this song. I Appreciate this Very Good version also...Anything the Rascals do (or did) is Tops on My Chart!
Eddie sings his heart out & even manages to still look sexy in those god-awful costumes they were put in...
kandy langford god- awful costumes??? I don't think so.Sid Bernstein ,the manager of this band, was right.god -awful costumes are what a shit band "kiss" was dressed up in back in the late seventies, minus any shred of musical talent.Teddy Nugent hanging from a sling in live shows, now that is carnival barker crap also.I play Hammond Organ, and guitar...just so you know.
Like the Trackers.
So wonderful
Very soulful and smooth. I've always loved their singing and music.
I think you had the best voice out of everyone Eddie Brigati
Yes, he did and it's too bad Felix took all the hits except for How Can I Be Sure. This should have been a single. Oh my, Eddie. I crushed on you back in junior high and I'm crushing again.
Eddie sings this song beautifully!
Dino!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY 2 adorable Eddie! Luv the Rascals.

Since I Fell for You
(by Woodrow Buddy Johnson)
You made me leave my happy home
You took my love, now you’ve gone
Since I fell for you
Let me tell you about love
Brings such misery and pain, yeah
I guess I’ll never be the same
Since I fell for you
It’s too bad, and it’s too sad
But I’m in love with you
You love me, then you snub me
But listen, babe, what can I do, yeah
I’m still in love with you
Oh, I guess I’ll never see the light, no
I get those blues most every night
Since I fell for you, ah
I get those blues most every night
Since I fell for you
Yeah, since I
Since I fell for you, girl
Yeah
Very good
I love you, Eddie. I'll never forget you. I remember being with you. Nobody knows.
Now we all know !!
"How can you be sure?"
Wish I could say the same.
I remember Joe Vasquez of the Nite Jokers singing this song at the Eagles Hall in Yuma Arizona. Great song.
WTF? LUV da Rascals!! Doan know about dis,..... but,....... LOVE Them Rascals
Priceless...
Just one thought, one memory -- The Barge.
Thanks. I saw the Rascals in person in Tampa, FL many years ago.
The original Rascals will be appearing on Broadway in NYC the entire month of April 2013. I saw them live in Buffalo, NY in 1968, and cannot wait to see them again! This sounds like a Jersey Boys type show, so it should be awesome with the Rascals and all their great songs.
Got to see them this morning on Fox and Friends and they're still fabulous
Never heard this version..love it..
WOW
Wonderful performance of a great ballad by one of the best groups of all time.
What's with tongolelena?
Doesn't seem to appreciate a great performance.
Eddie B! What a great voice he has. He looked hot and sexy in that outfit. Love this version of the classic as well.
Better than the original by lenny welch
Eddie was a little guy, but he had a great physique. Broad shoulders tapered to a small waist and very toned arms. Wowza! At 5' 9" I would have towered over him. Such a cutie.
Some of the negative comments here are just...stupid.
A lot of negative asshole haters here !!~
I miss . . . the organ !! I'm sure it will come back sometime after I'm dead. LOL I also miss 'horns" like 'Blood Sweat & Tears' horns, or any horns.
Thanks! I read where Steve Van Zandt (Springsteen's E Street Band) got them together for some concerts this past December on the east coast. If you hear of any more, please let us know!
You're in for a treat. I saw them this past December @ The Capital Theater, & it was great to see all four together again.
The rascals and lovin spoonful were the American Beatles as they wrote most of their songs plus great covers like this one
@recordguy4321 Yes, it was Mike Douglas...and to be exact, the episode was dated March 3, 1967.
I hung out with Eddie when they played at the Barge on Long Island , N.Y.
❤️
Choreography. 👍
From the Mike Douglas show late 65 or early 66.
I don't envy the stage hands who had to lift the Hammond organ onto that platform. Must have been in the union.
Eddie Brigati

Like the Beatles weren't wearing uniforms in 66.
Just heard about this the other day (I think it's called ONCE UPON A DREAM).
They were playing an oldie and doing it fine. What else has to be said?
Not a clown outfit. O.o Fyi, the Young Rascals wore their signature 'Lord Fauntleroy' outfits until late '67, when lots of other bands who wore 'early English/British Invasion' dress updated to the mod/hippie style. (ie Paul Revere & The Raiders, Moody Blues, New Colony Six, etc)

No, it was quite normal, and some made it look really, really *good* big fan of the buccaneer shirt.
B uppy - Yes, I agree that the uniform look was popular. It wasn't a buccaneer (pirate) shirt, but as I described above... taken from this page on their website: www.therascalsarchives.com/history/essay.htm

I guess you like what you like but The Raskals are way above The Beach Boyz
WTF does that even mean, how did The Beach Boys come into this? And it's RASCALS, not RASKALS ! Pay attention dude !
Lol the Beach boys were just a surfer band..
♥♥♥
When u say someone is the best u offend quietly thousands. Do u really want to do that? Express urself . So many words..
I think the best rendition of this song is Lenny Welch. Hands down!!
Hello Kevin... No I do not what to upset anyone... It was just my own opinion... and I do not mean anything negative on any of thee other band members too... Eddie just stands out for me. sorry you see it differently.

Lenny Welch was the one with the hit
@skipper8257 He still does! Check out his song ANGELS with his wife Susan. :)
touch a the gene pitneys here i think!!!
The only non Italian is the guitar player
Canadian/American. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Early in his life he moved to Rochester, New York with his mother.
In an early fan magazine, there was an interview with the Rascals in which they were asked to name their favorite food. Eddie, Feliz and Dino all answered "Italian". Gene answered "Italian. It HAS to be!" I guess that means we know where they all went to eat after a gig.
@azbluefox Check out The New Mastersounds and Medeski, Martin & Wood for awesome Hammond B-3.
Barbara striesan does this the best.

Terrifitate and bad.
"Terrifitate"?? 😂
Kinda hard to be taken seriously whilst wearing a clown outfit.
Looks like he's wearing a skirt and blouse.
ellenGwhite white Back in 1966, they were known as the Young Rascals, and they all wore those goofy shirts! www.rockhall.com/inductees/young-rascals
love the Rascals since my youth really, have their albums -- but anyone who knows and loves this song can tell this is just awful and embarrassing.
I have no idea why they picked that song,Eddie needs more up beat stuff" How can i be sure" was a great slow song but it fit Eddies voice..
TERRIBLE... They should never sing it again... What a disgrace to so many great singers that have recorded this song... what a joke
Oh manny you foolish, hating prick !!
