Well now Al and David are jamming together in heaven.
Thank you Moonlighting for introducing me to the real Al Jarreau.
Came here for David. Such an amazing player, so full of joy and soul. Thank you David. RIP.
I just found out...RIP to an elevating influence. I'm in tears listening to this.
Saddened by the passing of Mr. Sanborn. A very accomplished, soulful jazzy sax player. He said he was quote 'coming out of the blues/R&B side of the spectrum', Whichever it was, he appealed to my ears and sensibilities. Sympathies to his family and fans. One love.
RIP David Sanborn😢
Amen.
One of the rare, and most brilliant, pieces i ever heard. And years later it still pulls my heart strings just as strongly. Maddie and David, thank you.
One of my absolute favourites
Everything on this song is perfection. Al singing, David’s sax, Bob ‘s keyboards and Marcus Miller on bass all sublime. The strings put it over the top
Hi, Hope you're doing well. I came across your post and was intrigued by it. It would be great to know about you. What do you do?"
Right and this is where I will always close my eyes and listen to Bob James playing at the beginning for the intro part, both David Sanborn (with the sax) and Al Jarreau (singing) go at it till the end.
Gob smacked excellence amazing a teacher with God given hats🙏💋♥️
I've listened to this 1,000 times - usually late at night in my empy apartment, or on long drives on winding roads in the rain.
I love it like that too. It takes me somewhere else.
Even though I have performed this song at least 15 times......no matter how hard I try, I still can't match his pain.....or his Eloquence
Me too
Me too.❤️
전주와 마지막 구간에서 몽환적인 느낌이 예술임
그 중간은 al jarreau 목소리가 꽉채움
63 yo and felt I had met my truest love, or soulmate as they call it. Then after 6 months, WHAMM!! the snub. This song captures my situation more than any other 😢 Ironically Al Jerreau's "Teach Me Tonight" began the romance. She was a teacher.
One of THE BEST jazz albums of all times!!!
Pure pain....
Yes indeed. One of the first CD I bought when I started getting into jazz when I was 21.
Amazing album!
RIP AJ the greatest of all times jazz singer, man you’re GREAT!🎊 🎉
Harmonically, Musically, and Vocally UNSURPASSED.
The song is so deep, I first came to know this song in my late twenties over thirty years ago and yet today many years later the song still put me in a different mood. Those were the good old days. The instrumentals by both Bob James, David Sanborn, and Marcus Miller blend so well with the vocal maturity of Al Jarreau.
This is the ABSOLUTE BEST version of this song!!!!
CONTINUED BLESSINGS TO BOB JAMES, REST IN HEAVENLY PEACE AL JARREAU & DAVID SANBORN.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Totally agree, one of my favourite songs, and a taste of honey. Piano in the dark and many more.
When I hear David Sanborn's riffs, I always think of the Lethal Weapon movies.
I first heard this wonderful version by Al Jarreau on an episode of Moonlighting.....searched for and finally got my copy of this cd.....LOVE IT.....REST IN PEACE Mr Al Jarreau, you are the BEST 🎶❤❤❤
This.
I feel so sad that Al Jarreau has passed. It's so great to hear him sing again on these cuts.
got to meet him at a show with David Sandborn. Was a sweet guy... I miss him too!
how did he die ?
My Goodness, lol m so late I don’t remember him passing away 😭😵💫😤😵💫😵💫😵💫
"Made me leave my happy home..." This song is deep...so many great lyrics. Perfect for a rainy day, a good Cabernet Sauvignon, and a reflective mindset. I may not have much of a future...but what a past...ohhh what a past.
Hi, Hope you're doing well. I came across your post and was intrigued by it. It would be great to know about you. What do you do?"
He’s so awesome
The best version of this song. Al sings like noone can.
And the best thing also is the sax man known as Mr David Sanborn!
Had this one for years. One of the very best.
One of my all-time favourite songs. Still besotted with this record many years later. My favourite past time is drinking chilled wine and putting on this jam.
'You love me, then you snub me' 'Now I'm black and blue since I fell for you'... Poor David, why Maddie, why couldn't you just stop over thinking things and let things grow naturally?
What a match. Al's voice riding along that sax as the keys walk us down the road.
Well, this music on Moonlighting starring Bruce Willis was really wonderful I recall~~!
I tried to hip my mom to this cut, she laughed and sang the song ❤
This is an old Jazz standard. U can't trick Mom.😂😂😂
Ella's Fitzgerald use to sing this
David and Al were both so soulful. Perfect match.
David Sanborn's has a unique way of jazz saxing, so clear and piercing that it brings me to an unexplained height of romanticism. Thanks David for giving us your brand of jazz.
I feel so happy that we were blessed with Al Jarreau ❤ wonderful voice and a sweet person.
Rest in peace David Sanborn thanks for the years great music, there are four great versions of the his song, this being one, Reba Mcintyre and Natalie Cole, Barbara Streisand and Lenny Welch all great in there own way.
RIH my friend.. David joined Al in heaven
Si di di didince ...I fell ...for youuuu. What was in his heart when he did that riff. Perfection💛💜💙
Absolutely agreed Ms Peoples!!!! Mr Jarreau was singing his heart out!!!! i heard this song back in 1990 and of course still listening
RIP David Sanborn ;-(
Thanks to all these jazz giants.
I stumbled upon this album when I was barely twenty. Hands down one of the best jazz collaborations!!
Awesomeness
One of my favorites by Al Jarreau
Hi, Hope you're doing well. I came across your post and was intrigued by it. It would be great to know about you. What do you do?"
I had the pleasure of virtually being at the feet of Mr Sanborn while he Played the Blue Note about 6 years ago. Of course, he played like his life depended on it, he gave his all. It was Glorious ! He was a bit frail then, but you couldn't tell once he started playing. God rest the soul of the SaxMaster himself... David Sanborn.
Dear Fans of these great musicians. Do you realize that all of them as well all of Us Fans are “Baby Boomers”! As we sadly pass into eternity there is no new generation of musicians that are so skilled and so passionate for this beautiful blend of jazz music!!!!
San Diego was most of these musicians favorite place to play during summer months at “Humphries By the Bay”….
I am 62 and really just sad that this is a passing generation and the music is also passing with them. Embrace the recordings while we can and teach your Grandchildren in hopes that they will find pleasure in this music as we did……
Dear David Sanborn your life was meaningful to many of Us. RIP Friend….
I'm listening for the umpteenth- time, and still loving it ❤❤...CapeTown,South Africa...👏🇿🇦🫡♥️
You are so right, I'm in my late 60's and I also feel sad that younger generations do not appreciate this wonderful music...when I listen to what's popular today, it all sounds the same to my ears. I'm very grateful having grown up when I did and I even enjoyed some of my parents music from the 50's...Jazz is especially wonderful, there are so many different kinds of it and the musicians who play it. Thank you for your thoughts on this topic : )@curtiscains8533
BEST VERSION EVER!
thank you, David. rest in peace...
This album provided the background for countless nights of study while going to the University of Alabama. An all-time favorite.
Comparto tu opinión !
music doesn't get any better than this
David Sandbon gone but will never be forgotten Rest In Peace! My Friend your music was and will be an inspiration for us forever.
Sanborn riffs and blues solo are classic...
I am still listening to this album! Straight fire after all these years. Thank you!
Hi, Hope you're doing well. I came across your post and was intrigued by it. It would be great to know about you. What do you do?"
I went to PNC Art center to see Sanborn, left the biggest Al fan, bought every album. Love you Al...
What an amazing pair. Such pure talent.
Absolutely perfect song and arrangement.
“But what can I do, I’m still in love with you…”
Music is an expression of individuality; it's how you see the world. All art is, for that matter. You take how you experience the world, interpret it, and send it out there - express it - whether it's sculpture, dance or singing.... David Sanborn
95.5 WNUA Chicago. My intro to Smooth Jazz and Mr. Sanborn!
I'll miss you David and AL since I fell in love with you❤❤❤😢😢😢😢
David aveva le vibrazioni nell'anima ❤ il tuo suono resterà in eterno.🙏❤️
R.I.P David Sanborn..... forever will be missed ❤
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG: Our Ancestor, Al Jarreau, none like him, RIP. Blues, jazz and passion. And that scat, the spiritual gift of expressing those things that cannot be understood in words!
Shea, if you're out there somewhere listening to this. I need to thank Al, Bob and Dave For bringing this song into my life. As young kids and it being our first time in a relationship. This was one of the songs I'd play for you in my car. And was believe me, it was all for you.
You were sooo fucking beautiful
Your neck
Sooo fucking beautiful
Remember the downtown Hyatt
Remember trips to the doctor when you had to get ..nevermind
Remember when had to go get your "kidnapped " kid from Mississippi?
Remember the night before you left for college?
The restaurant which was our weekly date night and we didn't know how to tip properly. Lol
To this day. Those were the best days of my life.
I still love you Shea.
Love,
Robert

RIP BOTH OF THESE GREAT JAZZ MUSICIANS. WILL BE MISSED.
Man, I had no idea David passed away! That stinks! I see he was 78...almost 79. In my head, I feel like we're all frozen in time and the same age we were back in the 80s or 90s.

Just a brilliant piece of musical genius!
Maaaan, I saw David Sanborn in concert, front row, center over 20 years ago. So good. I had this album... perhaps on cassette tape, ha.
This was the first CD I ever heard back in what I can only guess was the mid to late 80's. My dad bought home a CD player - and it was amazing.
A piano bar, almost empty, late at night, the moon light spreading over the sea; a magical cruise…

I always loved this song since I got the Moonlighting soundtrack on cassette many years ago. I really want to hear how the song actually ended as it was fading out.
