I finally got my new pc which is what i used to emulate and record all of the gameplay in this video. My content on all platforms is about to so much better and more consistent so it's always greatly appreciated when you support me by subscribing, liking the video, following my other socials, etc. Even though i got my pc, I'm still editing on my 2017 model ipad pro because i only know the basics and absolute bare minimum on vegas and premiere pro 💀. i have literally dozens of different video ideas and different ways for each of these videos to be edited and presented which i can't wait to start doing more often. I promise not all of my will consist on vine thud sound effects 😭.

This was their most ambitious Tekken to date. Still my favorite one in the series, outside of what's broken in it.
I definitely wish the tekken story was still as genuinely interesting and dark as it was in tekken 4 and tekken 5. by far one of my favourite parts of this iteration of tekken

Single player on the hardest difficulty is still fun and very interesting to me. But playing against another person is where serious problems are there. Takes the fun away

This was my introduction to the Tekken series when I was a kid. I still remember my dad buying it for me and my sister on the PS2. Despite it's flaws, it's still my favorite game in the franchise many years later
It’s definitely over-hated despite its problems. Idk how to explain it but tekken 4 just screams ps2 whenever I think about it if you know what I mean 😂

and a damn PSP release. out of ALL the mainline/canon games to NOT be playable on PSP, they skipped RIGHT OVER this one. but they got 5 and 6 tho....and PSP can play all Ps1 games so u can literally play 1-3 and 5-6...why 🤦♂️

The biggest graphical jump in the series is actually T3 to Tag 1 (console version). Tag 1 on PS2 had amazing graphics for its time and it came out before T4. It arguably has better character models than T4 too.
Fair point but at the same time, tag 1 still had the classic png backgrounds the ps1 trilogy had which makes not look like as much of a graphical jump. I still understand what you’re saying bro
can u believe that tag 1.....was a ps2 launch title? it came out WITH the ps2. and i had NO IDEA how BEAUTIFUL 1v1 FIGHTING GAME'S SOUNDTRACK COULD BE before the original Tekken Tag Tournament. the STAFF ROLE song ALONE got me into videogame soundtracks again like the Streets of Rages, Tony Hawk ProSkater's, the super mario's, Sonic The Hedgehog's, the WWE Smackdown vs Raw's etc.etc. i legit started looking up all the game tracks to add to my personal playlist to listen to regularly 😂😂😂

Tekken 4 and 5 are by far my favourite Tekken games of the Franchise. Especially Tekken 4 is sourly the most unique and underrated (mostly because of the choices that hindered the competitive scene) but it is my favorite Tekken to date, because of the very seriousness Vibes of the Story aspects perspective. The seriousness atmosphere of Tekken 4 it's on another level in my opinion. The soundtrack is what gets me the most next to the game's atmosphere. With soundtracks like: Fetus(Prologue), Authentic Sky, Unihabited(Mall Area) Didgerhythm(Jungle Area) Touch and Go(Airport Area) and Kitsch(Beach Area) and The Inner Shrine(Hon-Maru Temple) and others soundtracks, For me Tekken 4 remains even in these days the most Unique Tekken game of the series.☯️
The sound track and story in tekken 4 was just on another level and are the two main aspects of this game that keep me coming back from time to time.
@@FxlconPxnch By the way Tekken 4 had the best story and atmosphere no doubt. Also my favourite Tekken Intros of the series are 4 and 5. Especially Tekken 4, developers did a lot of things incredibly right, most storylines were incredibly cool and the atmosphere and seriousness was just on a another level. I don't think most would disagree that Tekken 4 had a great"everything-except-the-fighting" to it. Great and Epic soundtracks, unique character designs, good individual stories, and an interesting main Mishima arc revival. The thing is that it's still a fighting game and no matter how great everything else is, if the fighting bit is flawed it'll overshadow the positives. ☯️🤷🏻♂️✌️

My first game was T2, I played it when I was only 3 with both my parents, then later that years T3 came out and I played the shit out of that game. In January 2001, my parents gifted me the PS2 with Tag 1 and my mind was blown by how good it looked. Then, T4 came out and it was at this time I realised I loved the story, I was only 7 but I spent my time reading the lore and revisiting the old games to fully grasp the story. Until then I only played with every character to unlock new ones and see all ending but they were just fun cinematics to me. Tekken 4 changed that, the more grounded tone really made me fall in love with everything about this game. I don't liek ranking things I love because I like every game in the franchise but if I had to, T4 would be in the top 3 easily.

Im really impressed by the video, good mix of modern humor and actual thoughts and review, the mic sounded good to me, only 2 times heard the lisp. Very good ost choice too for the video.
While Tekken 4 is only a few hour game, so the re-iteration of points made by you and others makes sense and 100% don't blame you, if you watch your video and Arsenality's on T4, some of the points sound eerily the same, im sure it was an accident but thought to point that out, i really enjoyed it, thanks a lot!
I appreciate the support and critiques man 💞. I tried to make the video as fast paced and entertaining while still talking about most of the important details of tekken 4. I’ve wanted to make a video on this game for ages and by the time I started replaying the game and planning/scripting, arsentaly was my main inspiration since he’s my favourite tekken content creator rn and I guess you could say I used his tekken 4 video as a blueprint (especially during the intro) since I was honestly lost on how I should go about making an entertaining video on a 20 year old tekken game. It's sad how two of the least selling Tekken games (4 and Tag 2) has the most effort in terms of content story, and replicability compared to freaking 7.
Fr. I played tag 2 online so much when it first came out and tekken 4 is just unmatched as far as the story and atmosphere goes
Can't believe this was the second worst selling tekken game... it had incredible graphics for the time, great music, best tekken force and story in the entire series. I also believe this is where Jin, Paul and Kazuya peaked. After tekken 4 Paul went from being the Chad of the series to a comedy relief character, kazuya became less morally gray and more of a generic villain and Jin became an overpowered devil. I Think the reason Jin went from Mishima karate to traditional karate as a way to avoid Jin being a carbon copy of Kazuya after his comeback
Paul definitely fell off after tekken 4. He lost to kuma in tekken 5 💀. It is honestly kinda weird that tekken 4 sold poorly compared to the rest of the franchise. The soundtrack, stages and tekken force never get old. Idc what anyone says, tekken 4 is still amazing, despite its flaws.

The game was different for lack of a better word, and a little underwhelming coming from its juggernaut predecessors Tag 1 and Tekken 3. You just had to be there. Sure, Tekken 4 in retrospect offered alot of what the newer games usually lack but for me the vibe was all off in many ways. I like that they tried taking the series in a more mature direction but it ended up being excessively mellow and foreign to what everyone learned to love in Tekken 3, which is why Tekken 5 performed so well. There used to be a good balance but now the game feels *too* over the top and vibrant imo.
I will always love Tekken 4 and as long as a functioning system, I'll always dedicate time to play it every year.

just got into tekken this year, so glad tekken 4 is the first tekken i played, it was definitely the most unique out of all them atleast in the mainline game

ive been talking about how tekken 4 was the best game in the franchise for over a dacade to my friends who never played it. my jaw hit the floor when i found out the FGC considered it one of the worst. So refreshing to see another who loves and appreciates tekken 4 for what it is! gave us the best music in the series and best story hands DOWN. every single character has a reason for why theyre fighting so hard and we see and FEEL it within the game.
4 and 6 are truly hidden perfection.
Still remember playing tekken 6 online a ton back in 2010-2011 on the PS3 and every arcade and a ton of other places in Perth where I’m from had tekken 6 arcade machines everywhere. It was also one of the first platinum trophies I ever got 🥹

My third favorite Tekken game, just behind Tekken 5 and Tekken 8. It's unbelievable the game is nearly 23 years old.
Tekken 4 is one of my all-time favorites. Introduced wall damage,and Law's moveset was greatly improved. They finally gave him Bruce Lee's side kick. His signature move from the movies. Lots of other characters were improved as well.

Was my introduction to this series after playing as hachi in soul calibur 2 on ps2 if it wasn't for soul calibur 2. Would've never discovered tekken in late 2005 tekken 4 had just as much content as soul calibur at the time while a smaller roster more single player content used to shut my door and play this in the dark for hours 😂😂 martial law was my go to character was undefeated with him the first few months we had this game 😊😊 happy the series is coming back for one more game later next year made me the gammer i am now when it comes to fighting games in general ❤❤

The best looking tekken of probably all time. They really took their time with the visual design and details in exchange for a big roster. The only thing that held this game back as far as the sales go was the time it was released. It came out when arcades just started closing everywhere. It was the beginning of that long dark age of fighting games that would last all the way up to the release of Tekken 7 and SFV. Just about Everyone who was the casual fighting game player went to first person shooters instead and only the hardcore fans stuck around. A lot of beautiful games came out during this time.

Well years later that title would fortunately go to tag tournament 2 but still if we’re to get a tekken game with the gameplay of TT2 and the atmosphere of 4 then we might as well be looking at the greatest game ever made

Gameplay wise, everything was almost perfect
I enjoyed the gameplay & fighting mechanics in tekken 4 but I reckon it feels slower paced and less “arcadey” compared to most other tekken games if that makes sense.
@@FxlconPxnch it's not that i didn't enjoyed it, it's just it was more focused on poking than juggling, but the atmosphere, the ambiance, music, and everything else was just almost perfect, i feel that there wasn't enough characters, there was cut characters too, if they were added, it would have been complete,

The only bad thing about Tekken 4 is the lack of content i.e. characters. It is understandable as it was the jump to next-gen. Kinda like GT3 etc

7:27 Ayoooo the demo disk with T4?? That's how I got into the series too. I remember it had multiplayer as well so I could play against my dad and sister which I thought was so cool for a demo. I thought Hwoarang was the coolest guy ever at that time and ngl I kinda don't disagree w/ 4yr old me. Was so excited when I got T5 and I could play him
I probably hadn't played it since the mid 2000s and i do like what they offered back then. To habe recently played it after a decade, it's different to the other Tekkens but it was the first Tekken game I played. I don't remember the storys as much, but the stages were great how thet looked, especially on CRT. Tekken 4 would be my favourite along with Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Tag 2 is one of my favourites too just for all the insane tag combos and other shit you can do

Idc what anyone says, I love this game and tag 2. Tekken 4 will always have the best vibe and tag 2 has the best roster, plus being able to play 4 player vs mode. I'm hoping T8 is a return to form as far as storytelling and a new Tekken Force would be amazing!

@@knightmoonbeam785 ps2 consoles & tekken 4 are still pretty cheap, you can just download the tekken 4 rom online and play it using an emulator on pc like I did in the video, you can play it on a ps3 if you have one of the original backwards compatible fat models or just mod your ps3, there’s plenty of easy and efficient ways to play it today

This game was a breath of fresh air and unexpected change of direction even at the time of it's release. I know that the opinion of some fans even back then were very divided.
For me T4 always felt like it tried so hard to be the a "Dead or Alive 3" clone than a Tekken... from a design and aesthetically standpoint it was a masterpiece
The gameplay sucked though. I mean, it did become a defensive tactical affair, with a lot more punish than actual aggressive play. Nice try, but tekken 5 did it so much better

The Best Tekken in the series in my opinion, the closed n limited environment is unique.. try to be different compared to the competitor like Virtua Fighter V and Dead or Alive 3
The unique stages and especially the godly tracks each of these exotic and vibrant stages got were amazing

I’ve wanted to make a tekken 4 video for months and by the time I got around to doing it, I definitely took some inspiration from him and I guess used his video as a blue print because he is definitely my favourite tekken content creator and I was honestly stuck on how I should go about making a video about a 20+ year old tekken entertaining

The game was great. People just suck with their who moved my cheese attitude and inability to adapt and appreciate change. If this was anyones entry into Tekken I’m sure they loved it for what it was.

Honestly, I think I might get the Japanese version of Tekken 4 since there's so many small differences between the Japanese version and the international version
What differences are there between the Japanese & international version? I only played the story mode once on the Japanese version.

As a Julia main Tekken 4 was absolutely miserable Lei and Yoshi players likely felt the same, They went completely overboard on the nerfs. It felt like a sick joke that this game was released in the state it was in. A large portion of the competitive scene in Europe skipped the game and carried on playing tag 1.

Tekken 4 made some huge stylistic gambles and stuck to them rigidly. The jazz-fusion soundtrack and the pastel colour pallette defined that early era of PS2 gaming ❤ I'm really glad the game is getting its retrospective day in the sun ☀️
