GW is kinda hurting itself with releasing army boxes every time a new codex is released, so people are monetarily exhausted by the holidays at least here in the States. Only Nurgle,Ironjawz, and Dark Angels have sold out.
@@jamborabbit Exactly with the release of a battle force with the release of the codex. It's really helping out factions that would have had to wait several Christmases to get one, plus they very rarely put the best stuff in them so it's all right
@@PeteOfDarkness every faction that’s received an updated Codex this year has received an Army Box(Battleforce box), so now DA, Tau, SoB have all received both an Army box and a Battleforce box.
US fan here, and as of November 18th at 7:20pm EST, the only Battleforces that are sold out are the Ironjawz, Nurgle and Dark Angels. I can still preorder any of the other Battleforces with no problem. Hell, at my FLGS, my girlfriend and I were able to easily preorder the Knights and (my 2nd choice) Necrons without any issues. I even called again half hour before writing this comment if it's still possible to preorder the Knights boxset and it's still possible. Really surprised that more than 48 hours since the preorder started ,that majority of the Battleforces are still available to preorder for US fans. To give an idea how crazy that is, (if I remember correctly) last year's 40k Battleforces all sold out within 10 hours or so with maybe the exception being the Space Marines Outrider Battleforce but I think that eventually sold out. The 2022 Battleforces sold out even quicker. Edit: Just checked on November 21st, at 4:54pm EST and the Knights Battleforce is NOW out of stock. So it was available for about 5 days, that's insane.
I’m brand new to the hobby. The hype and nerves around this weekend drove me crazy. I was so worried I wouldn’t get my cities of Sigmar box if I wasn’t there at opening. I was so relieved when I got there at 430 and there were still units available.
How badly did they touch you that youre now being a free advert for Games Workshops product HOW CAN YOU BE SO DUMB YOU PRETEND YOURE CRITISIZING THEM WHILE YOU ACT LIKE THEIR PRODUCT IS A HUMAN RIGHT
I bought the Tau box. I got the Combat Patrols (new and old) and the Kroot box while army building. All of these have a HUGE focus on infantry. I have 20 fire warriors, 10 pathfinders, 20 kroot carnivores (and 10 vespid) There is an almost annoyingly high amount of "little guys" on my army shelf now and I wanted to "balance it out" with a few big mechs. The ghostkeel is in no current value box and neither are the riptide and broadside. This is the most handy way to shift points focus from infantry to mechs.
As someone that bougnt two of the tau box it is an amazing box. i had the old combat patrol and got the kroot army box super cheap and am planning on buying the new combat patrol. I ran the numbers and with all that i am at over 2000 pts and am only really missing 2 or 3 boxes of crisis suits. The part of tau that sucks people in is the big mecha and having a box that gives you most of the big mecha is super appealing. The onky thing better would have been replacing the broadside or commander for a stormsurge or farsight.
As an Adepta Sororitas player, the only box that interested me was the Tau one. Beautiful box to jumpstart a mech heavy gun line Tau army. If I didn't have enough armies already, I would have tried to grab 2 and some Crisis Suits. Not a great discount so I didn't end up buying, but none of them were.
I got the nurgle box for the regiment attachment for my skaven. I'm in the UK and cities sold out early and ironjaws were still available on the Sunday when I checked, this was on Wayland games
And this year they had waaaay less stock. Atleast in australia. Makes sense how nearly all the boxes last year were around for the year and some stores had to make em down to something like 30-35% off. Also the only thing sold out everywhere i found is the dark angels (makes sense). Everything else is still available at 21% off.
Somewhat new Tau player here - I mostly bought the Ret Cadre box because it gets me up to an initial 2000 point list (I already own both combat patrols and two units of crisis suits, and some other random stuff i picked up second hand for cheap), and I managed to get the box at a discount from a local hobby store. I don't have a riptide and it's a set I was saving to buy anyway as it looks fun to build and paint, and I was already planning to purchase a second Ghostkeel and Commander at some point in the future. The discount of the box essentially means that i'm getting the broadside for "free" if i consider the individual prices of the models. But I think the box is probably not really worth it if you aren't already looking to buy a Riptide and Ghostkeel.
In australia on the GW webstore only the dark angels box seems to have sold out. For the independent game stores the dark angels and knight box seems to have sold out pretty much everywhere early day one. Whereas the ironjawz is sold out in most stores but was available for a decent while. Interestingly enough the necron, knight and tau were listed at 375, 345 and 310 AUD respectively whereas the msrp for the all the other boxes across 40k and AoS where 405.
Today I received information from my trusted PrePreOrder dealer that I would be getting the DA & the Knights box (I asked by email and waited until the dealer knew for sure how many boxes GW was delivering). By getting a 2nd Knights box through Kutami, I managed to achieve my maximum goal of getting 2 Knight boxes and the DA box.
Shoutout to Cardhaus for either finding a way to get more copies or for removing orders due to scammers because they had all the high demand items in stock 7 hours after they went live. Managed to snag the DA box because of it.
In the US, I tried to order the Dark Angel box from Wargame Portal. Was on the site & logged in when it went live at 2300 cst. Between the time I added it to my cart and hit checkout, it was sold out. The other 40k boxes apart from the Sisters box were sold out within a minute, and the Sisters within 10 minutes. I had to work the next day, but a friend who tried to order the Dark Angel box from Frontline Games said the DA was sold out immediately. I heard multiple people were able to get the DA box from GW without issue.
Yeah, I had coworkers watching cause I wouldn't shut up about needing to do nothing around midnight. Clicked add to cart, scrolled down to check out... Turned to "Sold out" in front of my eyes. I raged. Went to the game store yesterday and bought all their Deathwing Knights and Inner Circle.
Here in Sweden only the Dark Angels box was hard to get and is sold out quickly but have been available at times. Knights have been available over the weekend and is starting to sell out today. All AOS boxes are still available.
Fellow German here. The store I was looking at had 10 of each. DA sold out within 5 minutes IK within the hour Necrons, still 8 available at the moment Sisters and T‘au each 9 left Got a DA box at 10% off, which is the standard discount for GW products on that website
I'm still building my Tau collection, started with 3 combat patrol purchases across the 2 types, and a box of crisis suits and a commander, and I bought the Tau battleforce because I don't have any of the heavier battlesuits besides the ghostkeels.
...I don't know cuz I just started building in July, but I got my penitent crusade box online via GW a few days ago, and I guess I expect it in a week or two.
All battleboxs except DA and Knights are still available at 3rd party retailers. The discount just isn't high enough to justify the price. You're basically getting a unit for free. You would really want all the units in the box to justify it. I've still got an unopened Skaventide box so couldn't justify trying to by DA box 😂
I have the combat patrol box as a starter for Tau, I already have 2 infantries, a devilish and a Tau commander, this box fitted well with what I have to get to 1k points
USA: DA and IJ sold out very quickly. Nurgle sold out Sunday. Others are all still available. I’m seeing some FLGS stores with them 15% off but that’s about it.
Regarding the tau battleforce. literally all of the units are faction staples, you could buy two combat patrols and two retcad boxes and have most of a competitive list all you'd need is a few crisis suits which people are going to be wanting anyway.
As a big Battleforce stan- I wasn't tempted in the slightest by any of these. Maybe if I was interested in Dark Angels or Ironjawz, but otherwise these boxes have too much penny pinching involved and lack any boldness. With the 99.99% guarantee that prices will rise by next year... and, hell who are we even kidding- every year, I'm not confident we'll have Christmas Battleforce boxes worth getting excited about soon enough.
I really wanted the Dark Angels Army Box and had no chance at all to get one here in Germany. Ich wusste nicht das Du Deutscher bist. Grüße gehen raus :)
The moment they were announced i phoned my lgs and put my name at the top of the list for the dark angels. He informed me that i would be getting one even though they cut his allotment by over 1/2
Man, you guys get 25% discounts? And they go on sale for even more later? Man. 15% is the MAXIMUM discount GW allows in Canada :( And our dollar is much weaker than the euro.
Yeah what is with that recently? I swear even just a year or two ago you could easily find 20% discounters in Canada, but recently seems like they're all but gone.
At my local shop they never update the prices and give 20% off. I can still get things like Black Templar army release set and older Combat patrols for 20% off their original price.
I bought Tau because I didn't have a Commander suit or Riptide and only one Broadside and one Ghostkeel... so I could justify it. I looked at but didn't get the Necron one because the Dragon is the only thing I didn't have. Remember, many of us were spoilt with Hachette Imperium, which gave us a glut of Necron models... plus I bought extras for some units. I need zero warriors/scarabs or Praetorians/Lychguard.
Is it me or many shops either didn't apply any discount specifically on DA box or straight up charged more than GW? I write from Poland, GW price was 800 PLN and some places had it for well over 900, while other boxes went for around 600. It's sad to see actually decent shops being scammy scalpels. I got myself Founding Foray (Tried to grab DA one, but my shop had to cancel my order :( ), TBH if it had any overlap (other than cavalry and cannon, those things are cool) with Cities of Sigmar Spearhead I probably wouldn't get it because it had less discount than "regular" box. I may get Ork Box (if I don't get DA box then, some of shops in my area do "delayed preorders"). One interesting fact I've noticed over the years, if your faction have Primarch/big hero guy, it is bound to end up as centerpiece of Battleforce within year or two. I got Lion when his box launched so wasn't sold on DA box completely, but otherwise I got all three Demon Primarchs and few big AoS models from big boxes. So... if they release 40k Fulgrim on EC launch, I'll be happy to skip him, should be in 2026-7 Battleforce.
Skaven are already hugely discounted in the starter sets. You can even still get the Skaventide launch box in many places. They want people to buy a discount box to start the army then most of the other stuff at full price so giving them the starter discount + battleforce discount would not be good business.
These are insane. Got a Necron and Tau box 30minutes after opening time at Kutami. Knights and Dark Angels long gone and Tau a few minutes after About an hour or so later it was very obvious what didn't sell in comparison. 40 Necron Boxes left 144 Sororitas Boxes left. I was with a excellent timing on Kutami at 10:45, just a short time in the queue with 25 or so ppl. in front of me and got one of the Knight Boxes (I think the counter was at aprox. 75 boxes when I'd put it into my card and at aprox. 45 after my checkout) but the DA box was already gone when I came out of the queue.
UK market: trying to get a battleforce (necrons) online through the usual ways guaranteed I wouldn't be starting a new army as I wasn't going to get one direct due to cost and all discount retailers ran out immediately to the point where on refreshing element games had it instantly marked unavailable and wayland games crashed nonstop preventing checkout. Not too sad, but awful experience regardless.
Counting on my LGS to fulfill preorders on DA and Knights ... Otherwise I got Tau. Perfect match for Imperium premium subscription in combination with the Kroot box and a few more crisis suits. Necron box was dull if one already owns the Ctan. And Sisters as you mentioned is just not exciting.
honestly wouldn't be surprised if the tau box basically rots on shelves. It's a pretty bad dollar to point ratio, even for tau you should be able to find better than this even with a 15% discount from retail. I would imagine a extra discount for it, but that is just me.
@@channelname349 yea but that is the EU, the usa 15% is the "standard" discount. Plus the EU gets a better price for games workshop stuff anyway. like Combat patrol boxes cost 130 euro over there but in the usa it would be about 160 euro. If not for the fact retailers aren't allowed to do it, it would be cheaper to buy gamesworkshop products over seas and ship it over rather than buying it locally.
Very unhappy. One plans and studies and then my retailer only got three and only a few of those.. I did spring for a Flesh eaters. Retailer still has the sisters. I smelled scalpers when eight boxes of Orks went in one minute. Previous years I got every box I wanted. This year I got one I wasn't originally going to buy. A lump of coal for me.
The Necrons box is a shit. Sorry, but every Necron player has at least 40 Necron warriors and 2 or 3 Overlords. That’s a lot of unnecessary miniatures in the box.

I smelled scalpers when eight boxes of Orks went in one minute. Previous years I got every box I wanted. This year I got one I wasn't originally going to buy. A lump of coal for me.
DID GW NOT GIVE US ENOUGH OVERPRICED PLASTIC CRAP TO WASTE OUR MONEY ON?!
Spent my money on Trench Crusade kickstarter instead. GW forced fomo and price increases has killed warhammer for me
So excited for this game, just need to get time to play
The Necrons box is a shit. Sorry, but every Necron player has at least 40 Necron warriors and 2 or 3 Overlords. That’s a lot of unnecessary miniatures in the box.
