Nearly fell off my chair. $320 aud is most of the boxes bar the ones with 3x models... with discounts. One positive is that I'll be able to just build and paint what i got and avoid minis until gws pricing changes. I've got so much stuff ill be waiting for changes. Pribably have about 2-3 years' worth of plastic so i can wait.

I'm rather upset at how GW is distributing their rules for 40k at the moment. Warhammer + is a huge disappointment. I use a VPN in Canada as otherwise I would get locked out because of the french language police. The "russian" site is better up to date than the official paid subcription application. I feel GW really needs to rethink how they distribute their rules.

I'd kill to see more two-player battle boxes for either "big" game (40k or AoS). Seeing stuff like Arcane Cataclysm or or Aether War out in the wild was cool as hell and, not gonna lie, I almost grabbed AC to start a Lumineth or Tzeentch army.

I am 100% a competitive player, I LOVE optimising things, I love sitting down and thinking of what works and what does not, optimising what works with other things to make things better, that being said, as much as I adore 10th edition, I have recently been feeling the itch to try more narrative focused play, but I gotta say compared to simple competitive games the prospect of actually getting any level of narrative games or crusade type things set up with my friends seem super daunting, I am not even sure how to go about beginning, where as competitive games are super plug and play for me and my friends.

It is interesting how UA-cam content creators have become relying on GW to release something big for 40k on a weekly basis. No offense, but 40k is huge and therefore if one cannot come up with interesting topics it is a bit sad to see. And I like your content and they way you provide it. And it is not just you. No matter which channel - everybody is begging GW for 40k news as if there were none. Me as a casual player I enjoy the little break that gives me time to catch up on rule changes (maybe a good topic for content as everybody just reads it out loud on video...), get my armies painted and actually play the game until something changes again. Boarding action for example is a great way for smaller games (better than combat patrol IMO) and mission decks white dwarf 498/9 with past and present are insanely good and fun to play. In all honesty I am getting tired of negativity in UA-cam channels while the game is in its best state ever (despite playing Imperial Agents...)! So lets enjoy it. Cheers

I don't know even know what I play. My friends and I just put some miniatures on the table, we estimate what seems balanced and adjust accordingly, then we try to kill each other...'s miniatures. The winner takes a reward from the campaign rules, writes it down on a card, and brings it to the next game. I can't be bothered with calculating points and worrying about "legal" armies and units. It just doesn't matter to us. We're happy with 10th edition, but we also play Horus Heresy and Kill Team 2018.

Me and my hobby group only play combat patrol as we are all either brand new or returning after many decades. I find it a fantastic game mode to learn the rules and game, I’ve found it pretty well balanced so far, we mostly have 9th edition patrols. It is disappointing how GW have gone away from vehicles/center pieces but I still think it’s a great way to play and great value for new players

Dark Angles Christmas Battleforce box sold out in Australia in under 45 seconds. You may be interested to know that the prices were wildly different for different boxes. Tau was _cheap_, so was Knights.

My playgroup and I play mostly around 98% or so narrative Crusades. And GW really should step up their game in that department. It´s not even about the balance or the flavor of detachments.. Just alone the Crusade books are so messy on so many fronts. Some missions do not make sense, and traits and how they act are badly worded/explained. And it´s over a year into the edition and we got basically one book.. cause I don´t really count Tyrannic War as it was in the Leviathan release core book. It was done before the edition even came out. And named character.. Please give us more non-named characters. Some armies have barely any generic heroes. And I´m not even talking about half-armies like WE.. just look at Aeldari.. They have more epic heroes than generic ones. In Crusade, you have basically no one to lead ANY aspect Warrior.. and that sucks honestly. And on top of that.. just introduce a new keyword for character that factual only exist once like Primarchs and character that are only like ever once in an army. So you can still take those in Crusades and level them up. So yeah.. my two cents to the Narrative state of 40k atm.

I think you may have found the way forward to please both the competitive and narrative communities happy. They could move to entirely free core rules and datasheets like the beginning of 10th. The Codex's could have narative rules that make the game more fluffy for each faction (like full on 9th edition again) with free detachments for competitive ( like drukhari got). Finally you have what seems to now be the yearly narative campaign like Pariah Nexus that mixes stuff up for both communities.

I wish combat patrol cost less or just gave a bit more. As a newish player it makes it hard for my friends to jump into the hobby

Can’t speak for the others but that’s like a…23% discount on the Wrekka Mob? Basically a free big pig. That’s not really as much of a deal as I was expecting considering the value is basically gone unless you want literally the entire box.

The list price is 190€ according to my FLGS.

290 plus the tax we pay in Canada, depending on the province is tough.

Really debating if I want to have my LGS order the Maggotkin box for me but I think I'll stick to my original plan of getting some nurgle Daemons together so if I don't care for AoS I can at least use them in 40K

I got my DA copy already confirmed by my FLGS as they got already there allocations backed up from GW. Didn’t expected it to be quite frank.

I do agree that what GW was very shitty. That being said, if you're going to be new to Imperial Knights (like me), you're gonna end up buying the Knight Questoris box any way (because you'll want Canis Rex). And once you do, you'll have the sprue you need and you could build the models to be magnetic.

I don't have any Knights so I'll probably snag this anyway.

Most of this info is repeated 2 or 3 times, while other info is obvious. Finally, the unit point costs are all wrong. You're using some outdated Wahapedia list. If you use the 40K app, you'll see everything's been updated.

PSA: the warriors are amazing here because you can kitbash them into more lychguard with the spare bits

3 boxes worldwide optimistically

A new edition of Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game is due for release before christmas. Game looks like it will get a refresh of some of it 20+year old models, all to tie in with the release of the animated film War if the Rohirm. I'm pretty excited for it tbh, it's a great game and the new box looks like a good way to get started.

Makes sense as all of the Xmas bundles are meant to synergise with the existing Combat Patrols/Spearhead boxes rather than being a Purchase Twice To Get An Army set. Appreciate the confirmation 👍

Is the Knight’s one worth it? I hear it doesn’t come with options for the big knight, does that matter much?

The Sisters box would be awesome if it didn't have two sets of Arcos. If it had two units of repentia and one unit of Retributors it would be freakin awesome. That way you buy the battle force and two combat patrol for a massive force and just need to go buy your anti tank and centre piece of choice.

I have the launch box and spearhead, I think this completes it nicely can build the extra marshall alternatively and maybe spice the extra cannon up with some kitbashing.

Warchaner + Zoggrok + 20 Ardboyz is actually amazing. Weirdnob less so.

I really wish GW was consistent with the combat patrols being infantry. If all of them we useable as boarding patrols it would have given a reason to downgrade so many armies patrols. It really feels like there are two different teams trying to make two different combat patrol formats with each new box
