    I don't have a kayak, but love watching your videos because your editing style is amazing. I caught a huge fish the other night and thought of you when I was watching the footage, I was exhausted from fighting the fish and he made a powerful run. I sounded very much like you do when they do that. You are such an inspiration. Thanks for uploading quality content.

      Thanks so much for the kind words dude. And congrats on the big fish! In those moments there is no acting or faking it... our true passion for this sport and the fish shines through. Thanks for following along with my journey bud, and I wish you nothing but success and happiness in yours.

    Robert Field has the best camera work of any of the fishing channels on youtube and manages to do it restricted to a kayak. I guess those swivel booms are part of the secret.

    Hi. very nice new kayak. My comment is about the water that enters and does not come out. they use valves. scupper plugs and the water is still inside and entering. I use flapers made of adhesive rubber not only does not let it enter underneath but it keeps the kayak dry until I jump in abruptly in the kayak. Water then only comes in through the splashes and if it goes fast keeping the kayak super dry .. I WISH A LOT OF LUCK WITH NEW STRIKE Kayak!!

    One other thing I’d like to see you cover is how you haul your kayak. I have either my truck bed or a low rack on a rail system on my truck and both work, but getting it up there is kind of an issue with the weight of the kayak.

  • @TallapoosaOutdoorAdventures
    @TallapoosaOutdoorAdventures 6 років тому +1

    Nice setup man. I started using the Railblaza 600 after your recommendation/review a while back. I modified mine as well by taking the platform off and using an extension set to mount my GoPro higher for over-the-shoulder shots. I then used the platform and another rail mount for the low angle front shots with the Olympus TG870. (The platform works well to support the oblong shape of the Olympus.) For the perfect amount of "friction" on the swing of the 600 boom, I removed the screws and added Loctite and then screwed them in just the right amount for the desired swing speed. No more loosening up of the screws, and no more inadvertent moving camera angles from boat rocking. See ya out on the water......holla when you make it back to Alabama later in the year!

    Big 👍 This is an awesome episode and RAILBLAZA would be foolish not to link it. I went through so many iterations (costly) using other products. For the longest time I was a Ram mount junkie... but in the end it just did not deliver on a kayak application. Ram is great for the finger-tip joints of flags and action cam, but the base and boom must be RAILBLAZA. It’s a little more expensive but totally worth it.
    With my Ram 1.5” ball base and 32” telescoping boom, none of my videos ever kept consistent position. Adjustment granularity was great but the ball would always slip on waster, and found myself constantly adjusting after a “fish-on.” Same story with my Ram tubes, which I love, but not on the Ram ball joint. Anything on a boom or high torque should be mounted on a RAILBLAZA base.
    Anyway , I renovated my Outback mounts after seeing an older episode that you posted on your Outback. It was one of those “ah ha” moments.
    Enough rant... great episode. You gave me a few more ideas!

    Nice rigging. I'm a fan of the Railblaza products, as they're well- made, and sturdy. One of the things I like about the camera boom (both the 600 & 150 models), and their other swivel products, is that the friction/tension on the rotating/swiveling joints is factory-set, and no need for me to bother having to do it. The booms stay in the position I place them in, with no arbitrary movement.
    I use the Railblaza StarPort TracMount Kit to attach the Starports to the tracks on mu Feelfree Lure 11.5 . The tracks on a Lure are not standard width tracks, but the Tracmount Kit makes it easy to attach the Starports.

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  6 років тому +1

      Thanks man! Scotty makes quality products for sure, and they’ve been doing it for boats a long time. My issue with them is they seem to me more boat accessories that they’re making available for kayaks. The bases are bulky and sit too high on the deck for my liking. But to each their own, there’s definitely not right or wrong way to rig a kayak, just the way that works for you! Thanks for watching brother.

    • @FISH-OHOLIC
      @FISH-OHOLIC 6 років тому

      I think the problem for me is that the Scotty range is more accessible for me to get a hold of and I've became used to it. Do you know much about the feel free lure with the overdrive system, I'm thinking that's my next yak bit pricey so hopefully it's up to the job.

      Idea: As you know we have thousands of miles of beaches and huge rivers here in Brazil. On an other hand we don´t have much good kayak industries here. If we want a good one we most likely have to import ( I did it with my Trident 13). I was wondering whether this would be an interesting opportunity...Just sharing an idea...if you have insights please let me know.

    Is the Boonedox Landing Gear stock? Did you have to get longer legs or anything? Also, is it that much better than the C-Tug? I have a C-Tug now but I hate having to strap it on while the kayak is on the ground.

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  6 років тому

      The Landing Gear is stock. “That much better” is subjective. It saves you from having to do exactly what ya just mentioned. It’s up to you whether or not that’s worth the price difference to ya. It’s definitely more convenient, and more expensive. You still have to lift up on it a bit to move the leg positions, but it’s easier than straps.

      Sorry man I think it’s gone. I don’t work with Railblaza anymore. Maybe email them thru their website and say you saw my video but the code doesn’t work. I’m positive they’ll take care of you. If they don’t, come back and let me know and I will make it happen.

      Hahah you definitely don’t need all this to go fishing. I was just showing all the options. My first yak was $400 and had nothing on it. The fish don’t care!

      No, I would not worry about sharks. They will not bother you. But the ocean can be powerful. Go out when the weather is nice, and it is always best to have a friend with you

    Very nice rig! I'm looking for a pedal drive kayak and have a couple of questions.
    When you have the pedal drive raised and tilted forward I noticed the prop is exposed. Has that prop being exposed every been an issue (fish flopping around breaking it or it just getting in your way)?
    Also I noticed some water splashing up in front of the pedal drive when you're pedaling. Is that normal?
    Thanks!!

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  6 років тому

      You’re supposed to fill the hole up front with the included pod. I forgot it. Never had an issue with the prop being raised, but I’m mindful of it.

      @brib9716 6 років тому

      Guess.

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  6 років тому

      Why does it have to be one or the other? They’re one of my sponsors, but I used and loved their products long before I worked with them.

    • @brib9716
      @brib9716 6 років тому

      Because people want honest advice. You say you use and love their products but, like it or not, that advice is hugely tainted by the fact that you're sponsored by them. Two years down the road you might get a better sponsorship deal with YakAttack and, lo and behold, your new kayak video will feature a boat completely decked out in YakAttack. You can't honestly be surprised by this.
      Let me clarify. I'm not calling your honesty into question nor the quality of Railblaza. It's just that reviews from anyone of products from companies that sponsor them have to be taken with a huge grain of salt.

    • @justinhundley4144
      @justinhundley4144 6 років тому

      Matthew Zaborowski there is a lot of variables there. Biggest being your budget, where you fish and what you fish for. You obviously want the best you can afford that fits the kind of fishing you do. There is no perfect kayak.

    • @YakFishField

      Realistically I have no budget at the moment lol I’m more just looking for future reference, I fish mainly inshore salt water and freshwater.
