Amazing products that we loved, TVs and video equipment really was a big deal back then, my first VCR was a Kenwood, it was heavy and had a retail of $1000 pre-86, my first single CD player for the home was a Yamaha and cost $500.
In the 80s, in my country Romania, one could read in newspapers in electronic ads for sale: - I trade a new car for a VCR (the price of a VCR in a communist country was 10 times higher, 20 thousand dollars) . .. and about color TVs Very few people could afford to have them because their cost was very high and if we talk about Stereo, it means that you were very rich if you could afford something like that.
@@rbnhd1144 Yes, 35 years ago, since the Romanian revolution of 1989, everything has changed, you can buy anything from all over the globe via the Internet or from the local representatives of the major Audio-Video electronics brands. ☺👌✌
The nostalgia of those video tapes calls us to fondly remember those days when we traded movies and were eager to see new movies or concerts recorded on VHS tape. Well done, before you play, I recommend you to rewind the FWD---REW tape forwards and backwards, because if they haven't been for a long time, they stick to the roll.👋👋👍☘☘
I miss the days when japan used to make high end audio and tv`s . I bought the 1st day release of the Hitachi CED video Disc player in 1983 (it was a flop) and only sold it to a collector 2 years ago along with 75 movies and boxed with all paperwork . I still have my champagne gold 6 head nicam Hitachi VHS player though , it was the top model with commercial skip (if you had recorded a anything , on play back it would automatically FF when the adverts came on lol.
Yes, on the Video Disc or Laser Disc LD side, only Pioneer is the only one that is the most stable with an optical block that still works today, and about the function (commercial skip) it was a great discovery in the home video industry, but it could record at the same way it skips commercials when you program it and in the end you have the recording without commercials, that's how I have a JVC VCR today.
My dad also had the jvc tape and camcorder packet. All are home kid moves were a made on it I remember my dad said it was really expensive set. For it's time 💯👌👍
Your father was right, it really is an expensive set, and now with today's inflation, multiply the price from this catalog by 6.5 and see what the price was in '86.
When I left school in 1979 I got a 14" colour TV for me bedroom , no remote as it was a cheap Amstrad but was £250/$334 !!! That`s £1,585 / $2,121 in today's money. Plus I was working 44 hours a week and taking home £36 /$48. Electronics and white goods were so expensive in the old days.
Is the pound devalued more than 6 times so far? I thought the £ was the most stable currency so it's true that any white Audio-Video product was expensive then in the 80's or the colored ones from the Japanese market red, yellow or later in the 90's the silver ones from Europe. Working hard for the money in that period and electronic technology proved your high social status.
@@marcushull12 Extraordinarily big difference so far and everyone is talking that America is in recession... Thanks for the information about inflation!✔👍😉
