So much negativity and sighing in this video... I'm looking for info on the Insta360 x3 motorcycle kit but all I got in the end was being put off by the attitude. Shame.

I own the insta 360, best camera I have ever used records everything and makes you feel a lot safer when riding. I also bought the Gopro12 but hardly ever switch it on, I agree the attitude is annoying and the disregards for what other might consider important, bit like a spoilt Bratt throwing boxes around. defo a shame, unsub'd
New motorcycle kit just not worth it no helmet mount just clamp for your stick and some new type of mount that is not suitable for helmet mounting. I recommend to purchase the gopro grab bag if you want some helmet mount
If you can’t be bothered to learn about a common mounting arrangement, before slagging it off, you are wasting your time and ours.
This isn't a review video :-) It's an unboxing video - Why would I extensively research the product before hand?
@@SaffySprocket so you are allowed to be negative and write off things without trying them. An poor influencer unless another camera company slipped you a few quid. An awful video, not useful, not informative, not amusing , in fact not good at all.
I'm very surprised that you've never seen a Ram mount system before. Some of us have been using them for years and they're very good for mounting securely in exactly the right position.

I think you need to get to know the mounting kit a bit better (RTFM) and try it instead of making snap judgements. Insta are not going to jeopardise their reputation by supplying rubbish mounts. It looked solid enough to me.
It's the plastic GoPro mounts that are cheap tat 🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢 but like I said, I'm trying to reserve judgement until I review it

In actual fact, Insta supplied a mount that is so rubbish, it would NOT stay done up and despite my 6ft 2 OtherHalf trying to tighten it for me every few miles, it suddenly caused my new Insta360 x3 to swing downwards onto my rotating tyre. Scuffed the lens. Ruined. Luckily Wex replaced it for me. I'm talking about the carbon bike mount (cyclist here). I'll stick with the PGYtech mount as it's excellently sturdy!
@@alicejwho Is this the bike mount that attaches both sides of the steering stem and contains a gopro mount plus selfie stick mount? Did you have it tight from the start? If it's a little loose, allowing a little movement the teeth on the ratchets will actually eat themselves and will render it useless. As for loosening, Is everything clean and free from oils and grease? Clean it up if there is and apply a bit of carbon grip paste to create more friction if needed.
I'm not a sales person for Insta, I just understand that they simply cannot supply rubbish mounts because it would kill their business. Are there lots of complaints regarding these mounts? I really don't know. Just trying to help.
@@royevans4581 it is that one! It was the screw thing on the side. Every few miles ut came undone so badly that it took several turns to tighten up. They said it was faulty and that's why they completely replaced my camera 😊
Saffy, you’ve clearly never used ram mounts. My advice would be buy a ram ball that replaces on of the bolts of your handlebar mount and try the rest of the mount attached to that. Give it a try before giving up on it.

😂😂 I've moved house, I deserve a little leanway
I've got the motorcycle mount kit myself and I've been pretty happy with it. The Ram mount fits quite nicely multiple places on my bike (except for on my racks, which is unfortunate). Also, that particular mount is easy enough to find and replace.
I’ve seen many reviews and end results of what the Insta X3 is capable of and to be honest if it’s used correctly and the footage is edited correctly, the results are mind blowing. I know you say this isn’t a review but you’ve provided an opinion of it and its components and to me that constitutes a review.
The X3 is by all accounts significantly more versatile than the X2 and the larger screen is not a negative. As others have implied, this is a strange video where you’re remarking on the quality of the items you were sent without either using the camera the mounts or reading the manual!
I have been working on a genuine review, and I tried incredibly hard not to comment on the features sands functionality of the bits inside of the box because I wanted to reserve my judgment until I actually reviewed the product. Still, at the same time, I WAS disappointed. I've owned over 30+ action cameras, and the quality didn't match the price tag. I've been reviewing the camera all weekend, and the camera itself is great don't get me wrong, but I've also upgraded from the X2 to the X3, which means I've lost £300 in doing so, and I'm seeing for that £300 is very little. I don't hide my emotions, and I was disappointed but I'm reserving judgment until I finish my review
The lens will scratch very easily and it’s a bitch to edit footage unless you’re a techie.
That big screen saves you connecting to your phone to change settings, a great thing if you need glasses to read tiny screens like the X2 , probably not worth an upgrade but certainly X3 for me over the X2 if buying new. Also look for those lovely codes that give you bundles for free.
I used the very same X3 and motorcycle mount kit in New Zealand 3 weeks ago - worked very well, no issues at all! 🙂
Did you try using the adhesive mounts? That's what I'm majorly concerned about

I have watched all your videos and do enjoy your content, however this video definitely falls short of your usual content. I do agree everyone is entitled to give their opinion based on their experience, but I have to disagree with almost every aspect of your review. I have owned a couple of insta 360 products like the insta 360 go cameras to the x2 and x3. I have also purchased the motorcycle bundle with all the same mounts. my experience with their products from unboxing to the software to the quality of the products has been nothing but positive. I have been using the motorbike kit for about 2 years now producing content on Instagram etc, and haven't had a single issue. I feel a lot of the complaints you had in the video were completely down to user error. I agree that the mount that has to be assembled is a bit unnecessary, And you did say you will reserve your judgment until you use them on the road, Which in my opinion isn't going to be a great judgment based on how you just unboxed it. I look forward to seeing your review as it is a wonderful camera with so many possibilities.

Ram Mounts are very good, so long as the ones Insta sent you aren't cheap copies. The U-bolts can damage paintwork but there's plenty of better options in the Ram catalogue. I'm sure you'll grow to like them.
It's the adhesive mounts that felt cheap! The U-bolt was fine, it was just in pieces ahahah but the adhesive mounts, felt like Fake Action camera mounts
Saffy, love your video’s………but I’ve done over 50,000 miles in Europe over the last ten years or so and the RAM mounts I have used have never let me down, even after crash testing them. Give the RAM mounts ago.

I’m surprised by this video. Im sure you must have some great stuff….but the opening a new model you “forgot” about and then btching about everything is so extremely off putting….i hope you saw the value eventually.
RAM mounts are very good, first thing opened with the ball things and clothes peg looking thing. You can get many different attachments with the ball on.
I think I'm more miffed about how cheap the plastic sticky mounts felts
@Saffy Sprocket I swapped my stock mirrors for double take adventure ones, which are made from 6-inch ram arms with the 1 inch ball on the mirror and a threaded ball that screws into the original mirror thread. I've been known to drop bikes while off-road.
@@chriswharrier3571 same, replaced the standard mirrors on both my klx250s and vfr800x with double take mirrors using the ram mounts and it's been one of the best purchases I have made. Can be moved to th best viewing position and then folded away when parking bike's away in shed.
This was a train wreck of a video. Not sure if you were just having a bad day or what. You've already formed your opinion on these products without, somehow, even knowing how they work. You came out of this video just looking bitter.

Love your videos but, sorry, this one is terrible! The mount is fantastic! Works really really well. Solid as a rock but allows shed loads of adjustability. Try it before you review it.

First time seeing one of your videos. Thanks for showing the unboxing and initial review. I bought the X3 recently and I did not purchase the motorcycle bundle because I thought it to be a waste of money. I only really wanted the handlebar mount because it looks solid, but everything else I already have or just didn't see myself ever using.

Wow this was pretty poor attempt, just because you dont know what your doing doesnt mean the product is crap. Guessing they refused you a free sample unit so you want to trash it

You call the ball mounts weird, but the Ultimate addons phone holder uses the same ball mounting system.
Ram mounting systems are used in all sorts of applications, across various industries, as they are solid, reliable and easily used.
I'm not too fond of the claw-type Ram handlebar mount. I have also seen the mount's ball melting and deforming in hot weather (direct sunlight). Still, one of the most popular mounting system, replacements parts are available everywhere.
The handle bar mount is not very grippy and it damaged some paint on one of my bikes. I now use a bit of old rubber inner tube to aid grip

I bought an X3 recently for a NC500 trip starting on Thursday but only started playing with it at the weekend. I used a claw mount and selfie stick and the footage came out brilliant, including the sheep that ran out in front of me - took a snapshot as a memory; hoping I don't experience anything as close again. I haven't got to grips with the editing software yet - do you use other software to edit?
I used the insta software for my X2 and premiere pro to do the full video edits
I thought you'd researched the X3 before ordering. Every review I've ever saw before I ordered mine made a great deal of comment about the screen, all positive including large numbers of vloggers. I think this episode fell well short of your normal standards. Hope you enjoy using the x3 when you try it out.
I researched the X2 extensively, but not the X3, it was never my intention to do an unboxing video, it was to buy, grab and go and then head off to Europe, however I bought the X2 and then the X3 arrived after. In comparison, I was super disappointed

The lack of a charging plug is simple, you already have several from your other devices. Plus if you really need one they’re cheap enough, helps save packaging and unnecessary expenditure, and it’s good for the environment by not providing electrical equipment you don’t need.

Cheap mounts aside, would you recommend the insta x3 saffy ? Looking at treating myself sometime soon to one of those 😊
If you're buying from new, buy the insta X3, if you're buying secondhand, buy the X2! But overall it's a great camera

A ram mount is not meant to be a “quick release” and I can tell you from first hand experience that the plastic parts which look like fake GoPro ones are as strong as you could possibly need them to be. But I can totally see why you’d think that 👍🏻 Keep up the good work 😎
TBH a rubbish review RAM are the defacto mount and they of course fit all bars

Looks like Ram mounts. They work nicely, and the springs likely not necessary for it to work, just makes it a bit easier to mount

RAM mounts are very good, they're the bits wit the ball head, shame about the other mounts being cheap plastic,

Biggest problem I have with all of the Insta's is the 30 seconds or so of recording gap between clips. You can't record long videos with them as there are gaps while it writes files to the memory card.
I haven't noticed that yet, but I will test it out! I've avoided recording long clips because it's a pain to edit!"
@@SaffySprocket I recorded long clips (unti lthe battery runs out) and agree you get a series of 29 minute clips with maybe 30 second gaps - not a problem for me on my recent trip - bigger issue was having enough SDcards and batteries! 🙂 Also the "ai" editing works very well for straight ahead riding videos, then go back and do fancy editing later 🙂

I've used Ram mounts and Insta360 cams (and action cams in comparison) on 6 different bikes and never had an issue. I can agree the image quality on the consumer level Insta360 cams is not as good as the last few generations of the Hero line (because the 5k+ image on a 360 cam is spread around a larger sphere, which reduces quality as you crop into any particular isolated area of the footage). Also), the majority of your viewing audience can't tell much difference in image quality on their phones. However, the quality of this tech is also about image capture and reframing capabilities. Just try getting out and trying the gear before deciding how good it is.
stop hating. at the beginning. the microphones mught be useful for vlogging. the screen is better to change the modes. Just take the one x2 if it's "Too much" for you

How exactly did you imagine your U mount delivered already assembled? On a spare handlebar in the box? And come on, RAM mounts have been industry standard for years now. Are you trying to tell me you spent half a grand on a product you don't know and/or like because it has "motorcycle" in the name?

@@goatman86 The problem is, I already sold my X2 before I opened the X3 otherwise, I would have returned it. The camera itself isn't bad, I just don't think its worth the 300 upgrade
I haven't seen a video with more complaints on the entire UA-cam platform. I'm pretty sure that you are not going to get an insta360 sponsorship.
I stuck one of those cheap go pro mounts that you say are bad to my helmet and did an entire race with a camera hanging from the extension rod. It's so stuck there, that it's like part of the helmet. It's not getting off no matter how much I pick the helmet from that extension rod and shake it or do anything to it. You paid £500 and you expect to send you £500 worth of mounts on top of the camera, when these work perfectly? 🤷🏻♂️
My motto Saffy is, never buy anything that may have been made in Chine, it's hard I know. BUT it is generally a waste of money.😊
I've had some great stuff from China and the insta cameras themselves are great, but the accessories were just disappointed
All I learned by watching this video was, that the UK obviously does NOT belong to Europe. So the UK must be a continet by itself which I am not aware of. I hope you had a save trip to Europe.
I feel i must comment to defend the RAM mounts. There excellent. The trick here is to buy what you need not a kit with everything and anything thrown in. Ram products are available individually and as someone already commented the one that uses the clutch or brake mounting bolts is much better than the generic round the tube thing thats basically for cyclists !

I'm getting one or at least im debating myself whether to purchase one for my truck it will be hanging off the mirror. That mount looks like a hassle. I'm afraid I just might donate my camera to the highway using some of those mounts 😅. The mounting kits appear to be copies of the RAM Mount system - which although look unattractive, are robust and simple to use (even with gloves on). May have been cheaper to actually buy genuine RAM Mounts by the sounds of it.
*Insta360 footage* - can be quite strange as an account of a motorcycle journey and perhaps in the same way as drone footage can be.
Anything that is not done in POV from a rider's perspective, is not the same journey the rider experienced... is my thinking. This becomes particularly pertinent when trying to bring others along with you; experience the same things. A view five feet behind and four feet above you is not far, but can be a completely different perspective that the rider never sees. Even more so with drone footage. It works with footage of 'extreme sports' and other applications where an exclusive view is appropriate, but footage should be about the journey and not looking down at the back of your head.
Each to their own, but I use drone footage only to establish placement in the environment. The rest is rider's POV and none of that weird 360 stuff.
I used my X2 extensively in my trip videos and loved it, my gripe with the X3 is the amount it cost me to upgrade and what I got for the money wasn't worth it. My real issue isn't with the RAM mounts, It's the adhesive mounts that felt cheap! The U-bolt was fine, it was just in pieces ahahah but the adhesive mounts felt like Fake Action camera mounts.
@@SaffySprocket Yeah, I think GoPro mounts are made from a plastic resin that is durable under harsh conditions - stress and temperature.
I had a GoPro Hero 9 and a Hero 10, then bought a Hero 11. Not much of an upgrade, but what not many people talk about is the new file format type. You need to download a codec (if not new computer) to view the footage and it demands a fast computer processor and good memory.
If you have something mediocre now, you'll need to upgrade that as well, at an added expense. Once again, for not much benefit.
Ram mount on my crosser, enduro and R1, fantastic footage, go learn to use it saffy

@Saffy Sprocket the build quality on the mounts is very good compared to universal mounts , the screen on camera is actually very handy when setting up your shots and going through the menu.

@@lyndonevans8033 If you want to buy NEW, buy the X3 because there's no difference between the price of the X2 and the X3. However, if you aren't fussed about new or used like I was, buy an X2 - there are not many X3 on sale secondhand, and the X2 is 2.5x cheaper secondhand!

I tried many action cameras and trust me Insta360 X3 is one of the best camera I have ever used.

All of the mounts I have seen seem to be a similar construction. Please show comparisons with previous mounts you think more robust in construction. You seem to be doubling up on some items, as a newcomer to this camera wizardry let me know if your selling any items as you upgrade. invisible stick or camera's (want a 360 and looking at go pro's)
I'll have to film the set-up on my old bike to show you :-) I think its not that its more robust, its the fact I paid hundreds for the same construction for something UI paid a tenner for
@@SaffySprocket Seen a gopro 4 used for £89, would they meet entry level use?
@@garybrown4974 It all depends on what you're using it for! If you want it or vlogging, I'd recommend a GoPro 9 and up because of the built-in stabilisation; any will do if you want it for security. However, what I really would recommend is even if you buy a camera second-hand, go online and register the camera on your GoPro account and then pay for their monthly cloud subscription. It also serves as insurance. They replaced my GoPro 8 after it stopped working with a GoPro 10. I had to ship it back for inspection, and they gave me a free upgrade.

The "cheap Chinese plastic" could be something fairly exotic, like PEI (polyetherimide). Well known as "Ultem" but there are many other brand names. It could well be, but it probably isn't. I'll email their tech and ask, just out of interest. If it is, even you couldn't break it....

I don't need comping; I have a job! but in all seriousness, the camera itself isn't bad, and if I bought it from new, I wouldn't be complaining, Im just miffed about the fact my X2 cost 200 where as the X3 cost 500, and there's pretty much nothing of value for that extra 300 price tag

Oh well, I was just trying to point out that the plastic may look as you describe but it may actually be something else. I thought it may help you see past the mould release agent on the parts.

I think you should maybe start doing a little bit of research on the old UA-cam before you spend that kind of money love i have the x3 its a big step up from the gear 360 I still have or the golf ball cos thats what it looks like but it's still a really good 360 camera and hopefully I will be using my x3 this year for my drone UA-cam channel and other weird stuff hpoe you enjoy your x3 love

Greeting Ms Sprocket. How things have changed since I hit the road. No Sat Nav's. Just head in the general direction and either stop at a local garage and buy an ordnance survey map and or ask for directions. And as for using a camera? Any 35mm camara with a roll of 36-films would do 😂📸! Too many decisions now 😂😂😂👌. Stay riding till next time girl.
PS cattle grids - try and ride over them in a straight line and not at an angle. It helps that's all.
We have had a terrible experience with it too. The threads on the selfie stick to motorcycle mount kit crumbled and so that made it useless to us. 3 months later we are still back and forth with Chinese brand insta trying to get the right replacement part. The camera footage is good but the accessories are shocking and terrible quality and the customer service is worse. I’d send it back now saffy! GoPro 360 is the answer
Ive not had any problem with the threads *touch wood* but I felt a bit cheated paying 500 to upgrade from the X2 to the X3
@@SaffySprocket Yes we felt like we paid premium prices for a cheap Chinese poor quality product. If the camera itself has a issue good luck with the customer service!

@@jaco_oosthuizen The cameras are great and worth buying, but there's a huge price difference between the X2 and the X3. If you didn't own the X2 already and wanted to buy a camera from new, the X3 would make sense, but if you already own the X2, there's no point in upgrading to the X3! - I'd recommend buying the X2 second-hand like I did! You'll get the same final product but saving £300

I dont like the screen, just a battery drain and another thing to break. It's the same with gopro. As for those mounts, you should send them back considering how much they cost.

Advice from a video nut, for action cam, forget go pro and it’s over heating and not turning on again. But you want it super sharp and high contrast look and stabilizer , goggle xtu s-3 camera that equal to the GP 9 I like that one but if you like a lighter video as the 360 then it the pro. And they only 80-120 . They haven’t lock up and I like it tap zoom futures while recording as a regular camera lens GP don’t have. But only available non I.O.S. So not walking
