I didn’t know most of these haha. The plain white cover was cracking me up 😂😂 One of my favorite covers is Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, the colors and design are just so stunning to me!
Wow, you both are good- I guessed about half right. This was a fun excercise! Try titles that can be guessed by the cover (I mean, where the cover hints at the story, like the cover of The Road or Of Mice and Men) next time, even if you haven't read the book, that would be interesting 😁!
haha the only reason I know so many covers is because I see them when I edit the videos so I'm kinda cheating. and thank you! it's one of my fav shirts! - jon
As for aesthetics I like-I really like oil paintings and classic art on my literary fiction covers, words only for romance, something that looks like I stole it from a Duke’s library for classics, and I love when fantasy and sci-fi have designs that revolve around a distinct iconography element, like a skyline, starship, or a sword (as cliché as that might be).
haha good job on Brave New World! I think I agree with you on most of these - especially on the Duke library aesthetic for classics. thanks for watching! - jon
@@andtheywerereaders For sure! You two have such a great dynamic, and your format is awesome. I also like the way you open up literary fiction and classics into a more approachable context that’s conversational and inviting. It’s chatty and enriching, like the best classes you take with all your friends in the final year of a lit or cultural studies program. I hope you keep doing what you’re doing! 💙
@@katieglow95 omg this is so nice! we really appreciate comments like this. lit fic always seems a little daunting to get into, so we enjoy opening those doors for people as much as we can. thanks so much for being a part of our little community!

I agree!!! SUCH a good cover.

The SPEED at which Sierra got Transcendent Kingdom + Jon’s sigh had me 😆 Honestly surprised 0% that y’all were so good at this 😂
haha I thought I was a puzzle master when I was putting it together. my disappointment came out in that sigh
I love book games. This was fun!
Nice! we're happy you enjoyed - book games are the best and we'll try to come up with more in the future
This was so much fun to watch. I would be horrible at this.
I was surprised at how well I did tbh! thanks for watching!

Y’all always have the Kody creative bookish games/trivia. Love your channel!
Annie Ernaux is the only one who can pull that approach to book cover design 😂 it eats honestly
Honestly lmao. The fitzcarraldo editions are simple and perfect.
The last book had me rolling! 🤣 I got Almond and The Bandit Queens correct! Almond was a fantastic book.
It still makes me laugh to see that blank page pop up onto the screen 😂
I gotta get to almond!!
I got a majority of Sierra's and only two of Jon's😂😂😂So that went well. Another great one, you guys.
Wait the ones we were guessing or the ones we made?
Also, quite impressive!
😂 loved this!! I tried to play along ! Y’all definitely stumped me on some
happy that you played along! we gotta make it harder next time for sure

Good idea! Happy you played along and appreciate the comment!
How fun! I’m realizing how little I pay attention to covers 😂 also love the Mickey Mouse shirt!

THIS IS SO FUNNY HE WANTED HER TO FAIL SO BAD
haha I'm a little competitive sometimes

That was delightful:)
thank youuu!
Fun Fun Fun! That last book. My mind went to modern art and the white piece, like any white painting. I was like ummm. lol
LITERALLY. I was like, “sir, that’s modern art or any white book ever made” 🫠 😂

❤❤❤❤❤

I thought the Exteriors by Anne Ernaux was going to be Catcher in the Rye. Looks like you two had a lot of fun making this
Ooo Catcher in the Rye would've been a good one to include! Definitely had fun with it - thanks for watching and commenting!
I said Motherhood by Sheila Heti with so much confidence when the cover first popped up 😂😂
Lmao that’s incredible. It’s on my list!! Lmk if you enjoyed it :)

@@andtheywerereaders It’s one of the dozens of books on my shelf that I have not yet read 😂 I’ll let you know if I (hopefully) read it 😂
You should do it again with small clips from the cover to make it harder
Such a good idea!!
I need to work on this. I shouted Brave New World, and that was the only one I got. 😂
