Thanks for the helpful video! I may do this method. I’ve been meaning to do something similar…and I live in metro San Diego, CA! Five mins from downtown! Yet there’s wildlife everywhere, of course.. in addition to the known opossum mothers w babies, raccoons, neighborhood cats, birds, etc., I’m trying to see how many foxes, skunks and coyotes are visiting, as I’ve encountered them all before. In the middle of the city, no less. No coyotes in the actual garden but on the street, I’ve seen them. Overly fearless and borderline playful which leads me to believe they’re coydog hybrids. Lol. But I have three birdbaths around the yard and there’s a swimming pool. I wish animals didn’t care for chlorine, but alas… they don’t seem to care. I really wish they’d avoid it. Even a cover wouldn’t prevent it. Cats, dogs, birds…even a pair of ducks were swimming in the pool, and a red-tailed hawk came to drink from it twice! Maybe that’s where my camera needs to be 🤔😂 thanks again!

Have you looked into having a small solar panel to power this camera?? I really appreciate your attention to detail in each step and it is very easy to follow your instructions. Great job.I am looking into putting some solar lights in my backyard, but instead of of having one solar panel on each light I was hoping to get a little larger panel and hook up 6-8 small garden lights. I have not seen anything yet that is what I want and I came across your video and so I am working to get a small bird feeder pump powered via a solar panel. Keep up the good work on your videos, they are enjoyable and keep the detail level you are showing in this video.

I actually tried using solar power first but unfortunately the chap battery and controller I was using had a delay when switching between the solar power and battery power so the camera kept resetting. I hope to try again with better equipment soon though.
      Thanks for watching!

Can that camra do all day live streaming? I am looking to start a channel and live stream my bird feeders as a project for me and my son to manage.

Curious if you looked at the Blink Outdoor Security Camera, which is an Amazon product with 2 year battery life?

The camera has an app you download on your phone. Using the app you connect the camera to your home WiFi. After that You can view and record video from the camera in the app and the camera can also record to the cloud.

Nice job! Do you foresee any animals being more likely to notice and/or mess with the cord? Do any of them bother the camera itself or pretty much leave it alone?

So far the animals don’t really seem to notice the camera. Worst thing that’s happened is a fox peed on it haha. Also the birds splash it with water frequently.

Okay everyone…let’s have a big eye-roll for the old lady (me) asking a dumb question. First of all, thank you sooo much for making this a very understandable process; I’m excited to set one up, now that I have good instructions. NOW, for the tech-tarded question. How does this (or where) does it save the footage? I know it’s wifi based, but how does it do that…if it’s not too entailed? If it is, no worries…I completely understand. Thanks again for a very clear video AND including all the parts needed.😊

I just read your question and I think it gets stored on an SD card

Total material cost $80 before tax... not bad! Is there a monthly charge for the security camera app?

The zmodo camera I used will record low resolution clips when it detects activity for free. If you want high resolution 24/7 video they charge $4 a month. Some cameras systems have a recorder (NVR) that comes with them. in that case you could record high resolution video for free.
