@@shaunw9270 thank you ☺️ it’s very easy to jump on the bandwagon and look for negatives whenever you go…by why live life like that? There’s so much to admire in Weston. Glad you enjoyed watching. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
You're very welcome...yes it all depends on what you're looking for. There's so many wonderful things to do in WsM. I have made another video about Uphill, and am planning on doing one about Weston Woods and Sand Bay at some point, as well as conversations with locals about the area, so please do subscribe if you'd like to see more videos about the area :) Thanks for taking the time to comment...always good to hear when I cover someone else's hometown, when they think I've represented it fairly :)
Thank you very much for an upbeat commentary on Weston-super-mare. I was born in Weston in 1951. I was keen trainspotter when I was 6 and I remember the thousands that came to the town in the 60's. It was all so exciting and as a 19 tear old I toured the local pubs, worked at the Playhouse Theatre and some local hotels. Somerset played cricket at our local park and things seemed great. Fast forward a few decades and I watched a guy filming where it is now. There were pubs boarded up now I used to drink in and hotels all smashed glass and abandoned. Back alleys you would hardly dare to walk down. I felt near to crying. The hotel I worked in now abandoned after a fire. In the same ownership the Grand pier also burnt down. Marine Lake off limits due to pollution. I can only hope my despairing view of my town is overcome by progress.
@@mikelucas3746 thanks for sharing your memories with me 😊 It sounds like a good time to grow up in Weston-super-Mare. I think that it has gone through some significant challenges but is definitely on the up again. The recent videos that have been made about it by some UA-camrs are really irresponsible because they ignore any progress that has been made and seem to solely focus on anything that will bring the reputation down which is highly damaging because it will deter people from visiting or investing in the area…but there’s lots more investment planned and hopefully things will continue getting better and better. It’s still loved by so many. I can imagine that The Playhouse was fun to work in.
Lovely, it's so easy to walk around and see the bad in any old seaside town but once again you have created a great Video showing the side of Weston that we all know and love! great Vlog, thank you! Best regards Darren👌👍👍👍

BIG THANK YOU Nicola for taking the time to discover and video Weston from a positive perspective, in summer when the sun was shining, the beach, pier and downtown were crowded with happy residents and visitors. I was born in Weston in 1941 and enjoyed a happy childhood in the town until I emigrated to Australia in 1959. (Now living near Vancouver, Canada) A welcome change from recent videos in which the videographers appear to have set out to highlight the town's unfortunate seedy back alleys, empty streets, and boarded up shops. 😊
Glad you enjoyed watching from Canada. Every town and city has issues. Unfortunately it does seem to be the current trend to focus on the negatives even though this is usually a small part of a town and city. Nowhere is perfect and I think it is damaging to highlight the faults and only show those, so I wanted to show Weston in a positive light - there are lots of reasons to visit and people do love it so I wanted to show that. Hopefully the next set of investments will mean things will continue to improve too. I’d imagine it has changed a lot since you left.
