Great video, Nicola. Me and my son holiday in Brean twice a year and I didn't realise how much Weston super mare has to offer even though we do visit every time we are down Brean. We are down Brean again in October so we will definitely be giving Weston Super Mare a better look around. Thanks for the info. I have liked AND subscribed btw x

Lovely video, Nicola. I do hope you get the opportunity to explore Weston woods. It can be accessed near the top of Prince Consort Gardens by a long flight of steps. From there, you will have a superb view of Birnbeck Pier. As you walk along the upper ridge of the woods, you will see the ancient grain store pits and the remains of the walls of the Iron Age fort. Preservation work is taking place, removing trees which are damaging the ancient structure. There is an adventure playground in the woods, and a path leading down to Sand Bay. You’ll pass the ambitious BMX track and get the opportunity to video some of the aerial work of the riders.

BIG THANK YOU Nicola for taking the time to discover and video Weston from a positive perspective, in summer when the sun was shining, the beach, pier and downtown were crowded with happy residents and visitors. I was born in Weston in 1941 and enjoyed a happy childhood in the town until I emigrated to Australia in 1959. (Now living near Vancouver, Canada) A welcome change from recent videos in which the videographers appear to have set out to highlight the town's unfortunate seedy back alleys, empty streets, and boarded up shops. 😊
Glad you enjoyed watching from Canada. Every town and city has issues. Unfortunately it does seem to be the current trend to focus on the negatives even though this is usually a small part of a town and city. Nowhere is perfect and I think it is damaging to highlight the faults and only show those, so I wanted to show Weston in a positive light - there are lots of reasons to visit and people do love it so I wanted to show that. Hopefully the next set of investments will mean things will continue to improve too. I’d imagine it has changed a lot since you left.
