Little did they know the solder joints were damaged because of heat. The PS3 need to have a process done called reballing. To replace old solder joints on the microprocessor chips. Something also to replace is the power supply the power supply is the source of all of the Heat. It also would be a good idea to be able to control fan speed because the fan speed is only going 25% normally not enough air flow is going through the system to cool it down. You're thinking about buying a 60gb or a 20 GB I would definitely look into all of the points I just mentioned. I've had my 60gb since 2011 and still no yellow light of death because of this knowledge.
Rule no.1 do monthly backups or even every week and when ylod comes buy a slim. The cost to fix the ylod is higher than selling your old and buying a slim
Sony uses flimsy and cheap materials for a lot of their recent electronics, from laptops and handhelds to consoles. It works out well because their customers end up spending more money on repairs and replacements as well as insurance. Seasoned sony fans usually invest in cooling systems, shock absorbers and other extras to prevent damage to these delicate, but awesome electronic devices.
@@davidgallardoiii8079 ah shit never got round to replying, it was a original 2006 model, broke down in 2014, replaced with a slim which also broke down later on got a super slim that’s not being used lol more into PS4
I remember mine got it twice, once in May 2011 (although me and my family waited a year before getting it repaired) and then again in December 2013 - I also had a couple of Xbox 360s that never got RRoD though
I got mine in 2008. I first encountered the yellow light problem in 2016. It stopped working in 2018, so I had to sell it and get another one. So yeah, my old PS3 lasted a good 10 years.
had my PS3 for AGES, playing some game one day and then it just stopped. Never turned on again. Yellow light every time i try, no idea how to fix it. Lost all my sims progress and Minecraft Worlds... so annoyed
When they said it’s Sony’s fault it isn’t it’s your fault you need to clean the vents of the system so it can’t over heat and at least twice a month you should open it up and clean the fan and other components
LovesToSpooge it’s not like Microsoft at the time was doing good either the red ring of death was a major issue with all versions of the 360 even the 360 e
Did you honestly use whataboutism on MS after attempting to defend Sony on an issue that was Sony's fault? MS' screw up with the 360 doesn't mean the PS3's screw up isn't Sony's fault.

From all what I experienced, the ps3 was very reliable and had a great longevity.

My PS3 lasted ten years. No YLOD, just a red standby light that refused to turn on
Mine lasted for about 8 years, I did manage to fix it once but it broke again a couple weeks later.
Callum Miller what a beast! 👏 Are you going to get a new one?

I've had my original PS3 since launch. No problems for me and it's now 10 years old :D

SamTheDitto Same with me!
Mine died after a year! 😥

Microsoft fix the issue and help the people with Red Ring of Dead, Sony don't
@@julianarbelaez2928 Yeh sony want to charge you, then rig it so it breaks again after a while.

Good show, but the video quality was horrible...and the sound was a bit weak. Good info though.
Had my PS3 for 5 years, 80GB model, never gone wrong, never overheated, not one problem in 5 years, the same for my PS2
How's it holding up today? My 80gb fat ps3 is now around 9-10 years old and it still runs fine. Although, I think it would benefit from a dust out..
Joe Crook that's awesome. Keep it alive. It's rare to own one of these days. 👏
Cyanbird same for you. Keep it alive. It's rare! 👏
@@Cyanbirdiemostly on the CECHA and CECHB was the problem, and a few CECHE (which is the only 80gb affected). Do you have one?
I heard about this one!
Unfortunately, it was a temporary fix, & shortly after, every PS3 console died again!🤣
yeah but how long did they last for?

Thats true it is relavent even 10 years after launch ppl still buying and making games

It's a sign telling you how shit mc is
Ist because of the cooling agent on tje processor crubmling due to high amouns of heat to fix simply clean thw crumbled cooling agent and replace it
You can fix it. Search it on youtube and click on ifixits video
How embarrassing for Watchdog!🤣
So what about superslim
2006 or 7
How Sony would mock this right back!🤣
