The statues you found at 29:28 are actually part of a really cool online feature where when someone gets cursed, it sends those crystallized statues to other peoples worlds similar to how bloodstains work. This game has a lot of weird and entirely unexplained online features similar to this that unfortunately didn't carry over to the later Fromsoft games.
17:10 that right there is why I don't ever play DS1 online. Literally 90% of the people invading are super OP. The spell he used on you is one you can only get in the final area of the DLC. He was also wearing one of the heaviest armor sets in the game. That's gonna be most of your invasions.
dark souls 1 pvp is genuinely the worst thing in any game ever if it isn't dark bead spam or the furysword, it's just backstab spam which you can't escape without knowing how to cancel backstabs which is a glitch
Fun fact: curse used to stack, so you could be reduced to 1/8 of your health and be a one-shot-Scott while you're trying to get your hands on a Purging Stone :D
You can replicate this by being cursed and then putting on the dusk crown ring. Even crazier, there's a build meant for this. Dusk crown ring and cursed so 1/4 max health, then red tearstone ring in hyper mode, sanctus shield for the slow healing, power within pyromancy. PW drains your health so usually it's hard to pair with RTSR, but this method cuts your max health down low enough from base Vit that sanctus' constant heal rate is just about equal to PW's proportional dps. Add in the crystal catalyst for good measure too since the DCR negates its debuff. You can two shot Artorias with this build. This lets you essentially become pretty much the most powerful glass cannon sorcerer in all of Dark Souls
quick tipp for bossfights in ds1, if a boss has a tail try hitting it as much as possible cause if you do enough damage to it it will fall off and you get a weapon from it, for example the first gargoyle has an axe for a tail and if you'd have managed to slice it off you would've got the gargoyle tailaxe, same goes for the gaping dragon (or any dragon that isn't a regular enemy, like the one on the bridge), you would've gotten the dragon king's greataxe from it's tail
Something that really comes in handy, is switching to two handed when you're gonna land some strikes, and then quickly go back to one handed, mostly against enemies you know that you can't block their attacks, try it :)
few tips most bosses that have a tail can be cut off you saw this with the gargoyles itll net you some unique items for doing it too Also remember to two hand your weapon it gives you a 50% damage boost when two handing if you know an opening is coming up good habit is to swap to two hands hit then swap back *Edit* my bad you addressed the tail xD
Can't wait for blighttown, possibly one of, if not the favourite "worst area in soulsborne history" (provided you're going the "intended" route and not skipping capra demon, the depths and gaping dragon with the master key), the classic "poison swamp area". I personally recommend making the trek back to Andre (blacksmith) and upgrading your weapon as much as possible, and stopping by smeagol (undead merchant lady) to get some poison moss, it's well worth the time and effort. Good luck, and godspeed!
So proud you not testing out the secret drop near the butcher while souls and humanity were at stake (and easy to get back). Also the kindling of the bonfire while having two "soft" humanities (the humanity near hp bar) was a pro thing to do. You're learning. =) PS: My first playthrough of DS1 was on un-updated PS3 version (no internet connection), so there was a bug that caused the basilisks' curse to stack: I had to get up from Depths (and the bottom of the Blighttown) back to Undead Parish with 1:8th of my max hp bar. Good times...
I love the fact that you can laugh at yourself! It i's one of the reasons that you are one of my favorite content creators, and one of the very few I look forward to new posts. Keep it up bro!
I am keeping up with all of these episodes, they are very well done and entertaining! Please do not ever give up on your channel, you DO have what it takes!
Dark Souls 1 is famous for the low level twink invasions. Good job making the first one run away. Although be careful picking up items from randoms. They could be hacked, which could get your account banned from online play. With enough hits, you can also cut the tail cut off every dragon in this game for unique weapons. Some people speculate that the Gargoyles are a lower form of dragon cause you can do the same to them. You have to hit the tail proper though. Not the base of it.
@@matiasgago yeah man 😂 he dropped them for you, that's why they where in a glowing bag. If you go to the birds nest in firelink shrine, the bird will take you back to the starter area with a re-invigorated first boss. There's also a bird NPC that can drop items for in exchange for rare equipment. Maybe something to consider next time you stumble across firelink shrine. It feels so cool going back to the starter area and clearing everything (there's also unique items). You'll see though, when you drop items in the small nest, they appear in the same bag 😂
I think you would have had Gaping Dragon on your 4th attempt if you had been two handing the Claymore, since it scales with strength and two handing doubles your strength. That shield wasn't really doing you any favors since you can't really block or parry that thing. Great job. This game is amazing. Oh also, any enemies with tails usually can have their tail cut off and drop unique weapons when doing so.
So freaking true lmaoo things like that go so over my head in the heat of the moment 😂 yeah I also totally forgot about the tail haha gonna keep this top of mind moving forward thanks chief!
Scour around Firelink Shrine after you kill some main bosses and you’ll find Domhnall of Zena somewhere! He sells some pretty dope stuff eventually. Protect him at all costs.
Great playthrough so far! Always glad to see people just have fun on their first DS1 run, your videos have some good energy to them. Very excited for what’s ahead
Awww I was hoping you were going to get the tail weapon... Great Job! The Depths are my fave farm for humanity... The amazingly lovely journey through the wonderful Blighttown will be a definitely entertaining video.... See you soon!
Loving the Dark Souls series so far Mati! Always great to see first time players explore and find out about traps and shortcuts and where the bonfires are! Can't wait for the next area... You're gonna LOVE it!
This is a year later so I'm not sure if you're gonna see it but I came here for the souls games and stayed and subscribed for the souls games and for your smile and sense of humor. You make me laugh so hard, I love it ❤️
yayyyy im excited for this one, the depths was one of the spookiest areas for me when i first played dark souls btw in case you don't do it in this video, i really reccomend going back to the black knights in the undead burg and undead parish (the tall knights with the horns and big weapons) because those enemies drop really useful upgrade materials and sometimes their weapons too, and those weapons are worth checking out. the fights are a good challenge too so don't wait untill you're too overpowered or you'll miss out on the fun of beating them.
You can cut off all the bosses’ tails for unique weapons!!! Try it! They don’t scale with stats so they absolutely destroy to make up for it. Great beginner weapons.
read the description of spider shield, it might be useful in the next area. and you should check out the garden before blighttown,(area behind that lightning demon near the blacksmith) not a must, you can go either way

I highly recommend checking out an area you missed before taking on Blight Town. (It's down from the blacksmith bonfire in Undead Parish, where you fought the one-legged stone guy) Also, did you know that the ruins at Firelink Shrine can be explored upwards?
Having a blast following you on this playthrough. Not to give anything away or anything, but that spider shield was my best friend for parts of this game. Good luck with Blight town...
So cool watching you play this. I look forward to coming home from work and watching your new videos. That little song in the beginning of each video immediately melts my stress away.
After seeing you struggle with the Capra, I got so excited hearing you day how hard he was, laughing to myself about the mandatory bosses you had to fight that would be much more of a nightmare to you. I can’t wait to get to those videos about them 😂
I'm loving this playthrough!! A quick tip, go back to 'smeagul,' the merchant in the tunnel to firelink, and buy up some of the purple moss. It cures poison, so it's handy for dealing with rats and other poisonous enemies :) Good luck in blight town, and try not to go hollow!
Before heading to blight town (so fun) there is a forest worth checking out, the entrance is by the titanite demon down the stairs from Andre the blacksmith.
This is the only one of the soulsborne games I'm currently able to play (just have a switch, can't afford another console/PC) so it's so much fun seeing it get some love. Three suggestions before heading into Blighttown, but they're all pretty close location-wise - 1 - There's an area you missed, poke around near the blacksmith some more. Not a big deal but you'll be over-leveled for it if you wait much longer 2 - Definitely would be worth ascending your weapon before you get too far away from the blacksmith 3 - Check the description of the spider shield if you haven't already (it has an effect that's not obvious from the item stats)
Awesome playthrough, keep up the great content! FYI, I highly recommend reading the descriptions of any recently acquired equipment prior to tackling Blight Town. Good luck!
if you want pain, go directly to blighttown. otherwise, there is an optional area that you missed (well more like 3 but the rest are slightly harder) that is connected to andre's room, I imagine you'll want to upgrade to +5 anyways so it's worth a peek. anyways love the vids man, keep it up!
been a while since i checked in to your channel but i just wanna say i am so proud of your channel's growth in the past couple months and u actually inspired me to start streaming some elden ring myself lol. keep it up man !!!
Love your videos, espeically because youre still kinda new to souls games and its very fun to watch! P.S start two handing your weapon when going against strong bosses, because you cant really shield their attacks and you will do more damage that way.
Dark Souls 1 Basilisks are no joke lol. This area was dreadful on my firstplaythru, mad props to you for getting thru it while cursed lol. I booked it right back to Oswald for that purging stone
I was playing DS1 without patches and got double cursed. I had a really hard time getting to Oswald with 1/4 of my health. The worst part after the curse I felt save, because I thought they can’t curse me twice. Luckily this got patched and the female merchant is selling purging stones now.
My heart sunk when I realized, instead of back to the surface, we have to go further down to Blighttown! The place sucks every warm color out of everything.😩 The Gaping Dragon fight was nicely done - you got it completely figured out.😆 I didn’t realize we could cut off its tail to get some item! Okay, moving forward, let’s make sure every enemy that has a tail will die without it.

cursed. check
poorly upgraded weapon. check
no poison heal items. check

After seeing you struggle with the Capra, I got so excited hearing you day how hard he was, laughing to myself about the mandatory bosses you had to fight that would be much more of a nightmare to you. I can’t wait to get to those videos about them 😂
Get those tail weapons!! Awesome video and good luck with blighttown!! ❤️
I'm loving this playthrough!! A quick tip, go back to 'smeagul,' the merchant in the tunnel to firelink, and buy up some of the purple moss. It cures poison, so it's handy for dealing with rats and other poisonous enemies :)
Good luck in blight town, and try not to go hollow!
Before heading to blight town (so fun) there is a forest worth checking out, the entrance is by the titanite demon down the stairs from Andre the blacksmith.
Awesome Serires Mati! You are right not to trust the gold knight Lautrec. I hear he likes base jumping ;)
*touch the sign*: "Try to cut the enemy tail next time, reward ahead"
I think your gonna love Blighttown. Such a lovely place
I'm french ans it's a pleasure to learn english with your videos.
I like the souls game so you are the best man for this thanks
This is the only one of the soulsborne games I'm currently able to play (just have a switch, can't afford another console/PC) so it's so much fun seeing it get some love. Three suggestions before heading into Blighttown, but they're all pretty close location-wise -
1 - There's an area you missed, poke around near the blacksmith some more. Not a big deal but you'll be over-leveled for it if you wait much longer
2 - Definitely would be worth ascending your weapon before you get too far away from the blacksmith
3 - Check the description of the spider shield if you haven't already (it has an effect that's not obvious from the item stats)
Awesome playthrough, keep up the great content! FYI, I highly recommend reading the descriptions of any recently acquired equipment prior to tackling Blight Town. Good luck!
Your running away blindly in all directions saying run made my day lol
The thing I like about the gaping dragon, and subsequent dragons that you find is just how DEFORMED they've become.
YESSSS it’s gonna be a good day time to binge this vid love yah bro
luh you too bro appreciate you being here
if you want pain, go directly to blighttown. otherwise, there is an optional area that you missed (well more like 3 but the rest are slightly harder) that is connected to andre's room, I imagine you'll want to upgrade to +5 anyways so it's worth a peek. anyways love the vids man, keep it up!
Such a gentleman to the lady. So kind of you.
How long until we bully him into reading Berserk?
I like it as you can tell, but people's infatuation with it is getting old. It's kinda overrated.
Peep the shelf behind me sir the bullying worked 😄
Bruh
@@matiasgago my man 🤝
❤❤❤❤❤❤berserk
57:42 that was epic moment 😂
Best of luck in Blighttown man! I rly hate that place but once it's over, this game just gets better and better!
Keep up the awesome energy
Was waiting for this one haha
I gotchu!
First invasion success! He ran off so you didn't get the kill, but he didn't get you, so I consider that a success.
Freaking coward
And then the second invader was a havel monster with dark bead, pretty much the AIDS of DS1 😂 I really ought to finish videos before I comment.
Oh i just looooove next location after depths, can wait to see how Matias will love it too 😂👍
Bro you never disappoint! 6:02 😂 same
man i genuinely laughed bad when you were kicking the dragon...hahaha amazing video
Another episode lets go!
Yesssir!!
been a while since i checked in to your channel but i just wanna say i am so proud of your channel's growth in the past couple months and u actually inspired me to start streaming some elden ring myself lol. keep it up man !!!
Your patience paid off nice! Double handing against giant bosses is useful, you do way more damage and the shield isn't much use anyway :)
Love your videos, espeically because youre still kinda new to souls games and its very fun to watch!
P.S start two handing your weapon when going against strong bosses, because you cant really shield their attacks and you will do more damage that way.
Let's not lose those!!!.....*one second later*... Or we could open the huge door xDDD peak comedy. ;))) Proud of you for leveling up
Dark Souls 1 Basilisks are no joke lol. This area was dreadful on my firstplaythru, mad props to you for getting thru it while cursed lol. I booked it right back to Oswald for that purging stone
In case no one else has mentioned it, most enemies with tails can be cut off for weapons. Bell Gargoyles, Gaping Dragon, etc. Keep at it brother
Yooooo. I’m actually on time this time around. Can’t wait! 💪🏼
Lets gooooo!
Yessss, new episode, love it
I was playing DS1 without patches and got double cursed. I had a really hard time getting to Oswald with 1/4 of my health. The worst part after the curse I felt save, because I thought they can’t curse me twice. Luckily this got patched and the female merchant is selling purging stones now.
Man i have to say your videos are very entertaining 😂.
Keep the good work
Well done sir! Your going to love Blighttown!
Really love the energy🚣♀️🕺🏼🐃
My heart sunk when I realized, instead of back to the surface, we have to go further down to Blighttown! The place sucks every warm color out of everything.😩 The Gaping Dragon fight was nicely done - you got it completely figured out.😆 I didn’t realize we could cut off its tail to get some item! Okay, moving forward, let’s make sure every enemy that has a tail will die without it.
bro, not two-handing the sword this entire time has really gave me more anxiety than i already had
