Lighter fluid also does the trick. Thanks for the video. Stay cool!

We’re useless with high temps over here. But then we do t have air con in our houses, so we suffer. I’ll give lighter fluid a go. Thanks Ben.

Good timing mate, I’ve got some old honey jars to hold screws etc. that need labels removing! And I’ll do it that way now 👌👍 cheers rob

The owner of my local record shop showed me how to remove stubborn price labels with lighter fluid. Let a few drops soak into the label, gently peel it off the cover and wipe off the sticky cack that's left. Any remaining fluid evaporates so it doesn't damage the cover.
How to clean the vinyl is a whole other debate*.

Cheers Steve. Ben Mall also said lighter fluid, so I’ll have to give that a go.
Being an old sod, I’ve still got loads of vinyl (along with a couple of 1210s and a mixer), so I’m pretty good at cleaning records. Maybe the topic of another video?

@@essentialhandyman I think we're about the same age, both nudging 50? I still buy more of my music on vinyl than any other format. It's what I spend most of my spare (!) money on. I'm always up for watching a video about it.
One thing I will say though... You'd better be ready to catch all the worms that'll pour out of the can you're about to open!

@@steve.b.23 similar age. I was 50 earlier this week. Do you buy old vinyl (record shops etc) or new vinyl, Tesco etc?

@@essentialhandyman Ah, belated happy half century, sir! I've still got 6 months of my 40s left.
A lot of the music I listen to is - how shall we say it - niche, so I'd be hard pressed to find it in a bricks & mortar store. As a result I buy quite a lot of it online, direct from the bands/labels. That said, I'm never happier than when I can spend an afternoon digging through boxes of used records in the hope that I'll find a bit of treasure.
      edit: typo

Also WD40 is very good & smells better 😂.

A couple of people said lighter fluid, with WD40, it looks like I’ve got a comparison video to do. Perhaps add acetone, turps and meths to the mix as well?
Ps, they all smell pretty good to me.
