That Bison bull walking with the Tetons in the background has a timeless quality to it. It makes me think of a time thousands of years before humans arrived in North America.
Difficult to find a favourite, they’re all pretty spectacular. Nothing short of top drawer as always Steve xx
Thanks Gary👍
What comes through, Steve, is your enthusiasm for, and engagement with your subject. Whether you lift your voice like the Elk or lower your head to quietly reflect like the Owl, it is a privilege to share the intimacy of the moment, made possible through your persistence in capturing what is truly wonderful.
Wow, thank you!
Major 👍👍👍👍 on these 5 images. I am a fan of the snowy owls, so those are my favorites. Looking forward to your next 5.
Love the elk one! And the flying owl!
Best yet! Love the mtn blue bird and second owl. Keep ‘‘em coming.
Thanks! Will do!
Fantastic captures, my favorite group thus far,
Many thanks!
Steve, these are awesome images! The mountain bluebird with the clean background, and the diagonal wing position parallel to the branch, was absolutely magical!
Thanks!🙏
As much as I have enjoyed seeing your picks from the Africa workshop, it's your work in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone that I most closely identify with. The elk bull framed by storm clouds and fog is fantastic. Your owl photos capture the mysterious nature of these birds. I hear owls most mornings when I'm out photographing elk and pronghorn. I've spent many days walking the local forests looking for owls but have yet to find one. Oh well, I'm probably walking right past them without even knowing it :)
Love the Blue Bird shot..one of my favorite birds
Me too!
I like the great grey owl with the sliver of light shining on him. I know he's probably looking at a vole or something below, However, it looks like he is looking at the light on his side and saying, "huh".
More fabulous images!
My favorite 5 so far! Alll wallhangers!
Thanks!
The first Great Gray Owl image is amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great shots Steve. I would love to see a Great Grey in the wild. Owls are mysterious birds.
Come over to Italy my friend, I'd love to meet you!
Great photos!!!
Great images and if I can only choose 1 it's the owl in flight, nailed it! 🏁
Thank you! Cheers!
enjoying your favorite "amazing" photos ❤
I think the Mountain Blue Bird and the Bison are the bomb. Nice shots Steve.
Thanks!🙏
Both owl images are some of the best I’ve ever seen
Thanks!
beautiful photography. The Elk is my favorite.
Thanks!
I injoy watching your blog
Just wonderful images... I have your Owl book but think one day I need to get a print or two...just awesome captures.
Thank you!
At the end of your 2020 (?) favorites you mentioned you were in the middle of finding a new form of your photographs. It’s been fun watching this process and where you are today! These images are 🔥🔥🔥. Thank you for sharing!
Yep, it took some time but I feel like I've settled in...
Amazing pictures, as always 🤗🤗
Thank you very much!
Awesome images! Really enjoying the series👍👍
Thanks!
Steve you have created so many images to be proud of, I don't just mean good I mean outstanding photographs ! I've had a very keen interest in wildlife photography for over forty years, your images are as captivating, thought provoking and memorable as the very best I've seen, thanks for sharing your work here. all the best from the UK.
Wow, thanks!
The bison and elk shots are my favorites. The bison is just a classic shot, and your description of being able to feel September in the elk photo is spot on.
Thanks!
Loved the Great Gray Owl image Steve, you and those owls are meant to be together, always love the videos of you both and always makes my day watching them. Hi from the UK and have a great week 👍
Thanks 👍
The other videos showed great shots. These were over the top! Great stuff.
Awesome, thank you!
I'm really enjoying this series and loved your "favorite" disclaimer the the beginning of your previous video. It can be very true that the personal connection a photographer feels for their photos may not be the same of that of a detached viewer. All of your photos have been excellent and the owl in the sliver of light is my favorite of this round. It is not fair that not only you have to find an animal, it has to be an environment where it is exposed enough to photograph, but the lighting conditions have to be ideal. So challenging but when it all comes together it is just magic.
Yep, it ain't easy...
I love all these images, especially the second owl shot. That's a pose and lighting combo that I don't think I've seen.
It would have been a hoot (pun intended) if you'd closed your discussion of the bluebird image with "... And that's all I have to say about that" like Forrest Gump.
Yep, I had that line in my head for sure...
The B&W bison looks like it could have been taken a hundred years ago, awesome shot. I love owls as well and have had some barred owls hanging around my house lately so love to go outside and listen to them, wish they would come out earlier to get some shots. My favorite videos of yours are you shooting owls and tracking them through the woods.
Those are my favorite too!
great bison shot
Thank you sir!
I thought a Bluebird would make your list when I saw that video originally.
You were correct
The Bison image shows strength from the Bison
Thanks!
man each one better than the last. I have tried my hand at wildlife photography over the past year and I love it! When it comes to small birds, such as the blue bird, what do you assess your distance from the bird was for that shot? I use a sigma 150-600 and anything over 500mm (on a Z7ii) is soft no matter the aperture.
I don't recall the distance but I was quite close
What is the subject of the picture on the wall behind you???
Ocean waves
