    If I just want to replace the battery, can I accomplish that after only removing the back cover, or, do I need to do all the other steps (such as removing the top, and bottom, of the internal phone parts as show in this video)?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Рік тому +2

      You would need to also remove the top cover to gain access to disconnecting the battery cable. But you don't need to remove the main board etc.

      @@PBKreviews I could not get that top cover to come off. It was stick at the top, in the center. I tried several times, and it looked like that board was going to break.So I stopped. In your video that top part of the board seemed to come off very easily!
      So, I lifted that top board as much as I could with a wedge, at the bottom, where the battery cable snaps in, and eventually got the battery cable to snap onto the board where it clicks in place. That battery clip is SO SMALL. like an 1/8 inch by 1/8 inch, and can't hardly tell that it does snap on the board.
      tks for your video.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 роки тому +3

      Hi, you would first have to remove the screws and top cover to disconnect the battery cable, then use a hair dryer or heat gun to gently heat up the front of the phone where the screen is so you loosen up the adhesive underneath the battery holding the battery down, then use a pry tool to gently pry the battery off without warping it too much or piercing it so you don't risk it catching fire or shorting etc.

    • @peteruveges1976
      @peteruveges1976 3 роки тому +1

      @@PBKreviews isn't there a danger of the battery exploding if I heat it up too much?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 роки тому +1

      @@peteruveges1976 Not exploding but catching fire or so forth yes, but that's why you heat the front of the phone where the screen is so the heat warms the adhesive under the battery and not directly heat the battery itself. Also you need to heat it gradually not hold heat in one area for long periods. Point is to gradually warm up the adhesive and loosen it a bit.

    Excellent informative video which displays your expert knowledge and experience with phone repairs. On a side note, this is the last (temporary) Motorola phone I'll ever buy. Was working fine, battery just died out of nowhere, and this is waaaaaay too much work to replace a battery on a $100 phone. I'll just go buy a new/different branded phone, probably Samsung or One Plus 8. 👍💪✨🌟🙌

    Hello PBKreviews. I plan on taking the memory chip out of my Moto E7 to retrieve data from it because it's not starting up properly. Do you think this would work and would you know what kind of reader I could use to read the Chip once removed?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Рік тому +1

      If you are referring to the onboard storage, its not removable. Its soldered to the main board and would require soldering skills to be able to remove it and not damage it and you would need to solder it to another working board by replacing its storage ROM chip with your's. It's just not practical nor end user doable.

    This was a bad Idea. All I needed to change was my charge port. Now my phone won't read the sim card. Sim Card works in another phone so definitely something wrong with the replacement board. Tried all kinds of fixes from youtubers and nothing. Re-installed the old board and phone reads sim card fine. Bought the charge card from Nufix and will not bother trying to work this out with them and suggest you think twice about ordering from them. May try another board form some else or just unsoldering the old micro usb port and soldering in the one from the "new" board. Total waste of time for such a simple fix.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 роки тому +2

      Yes you would need to take the entire phone apart to be able to remove the battery and disconnect the screen cable from the main board. Then you would pry the screen off the frame and apply your new screen and re-assemble the phone.

      @@PBKreviews I shouldn't have said exploded, battery cracked and set fire/sparked a bit. I tried to heat screen side with hair dryer prior to trying to get it out, but i don't think i heated long enough/properly. I thought I had loosened the adhesive enough to try pry out battery, but heard battery crack while trying to extract. A little scary at first, put a little cloth over battery to reduce sparks/smoke spread, put in a box and put it outside after about 30 seconds of fire/sparking to reduce smoke/smell inside.
      I would recommend noobs like me try extract battery outside if they have a backyard available/extension cord for heating device to prevent inside smoke issue, and try watch someone extract a glued motorola battery before attempting on their own (which i didnt do), because that seems like the biggest risk of breaking phone doing this teardown on your own with less than great tools available.
      I was trying to do a screen replacement on my own, so that failed. Cost of buying device is still cheaper than paying for certified repair/paying motorola mail in repair. I just bought same device online, so if i crack the screen again, will be repeating this process lol. Thanks for the video was immensely helpful until i screwed it up! lol
