Well I just don't fit in, I put 49,000 k on my 883 the first season and got it late in the riding season. But we can't all ways ride what we like, hitting 70 had to trade my 650 Dr in for a C 50 just could get my late up and over it . but lucky I have not fond a bike I do not like. Would love a Ural but no dealers on the east cost of Canada.

Have you thought about buying one in the U.S and then shipping it to Canada? I rarely see a Ural and they are nice looking bikes which have a WW2 feel to it.

Maybe he found a slightly used Moto Guzzi Griso or any one of a number of bikes. Some of which badly embarrass an 883 and that fact bothered him.

Fantastic review - honest (they really aren't very fast and scrape constantly), but also clarifies the spirit of the Sportster. Great for beginners, very forgiving, a reliable bike to learn on while modifying it to make it your own, and most riders can flat-foot comfortably. I'm about 110 lbs, 5'4", and have the 2016 for city driving bc it's lanky but well balanced and very agile. Sometimes it goes out motocamping in the country. Gets a bit squirrelly on gravel, but Rusty Butcher has shown us what the Sporty can do off-road if you have the time to put into the bike.

For the record, I am a sport bike guy, but I was working at a Harley-Davidson dealership. The demo truck rolled in and I ask my boss, since I didn't have a lot of experience with the brand if I could take a bike out. He said i could ride as many as i wanted (I didn't know i was getting let go the next day!) I rode Sportsters, Street Glides, Softtails and more. The impression I came away with was the Sport Bikes and Harley's are apples and oranges. Yes they are motorcycles but the experience couldn't be more different. The Harley's were relaxed, muscular and amazing. I get it. There is something about riding a big Harley that you smile in your helmet and think heck yeah look at us!

Nick Ferdinande This bike is comfortable until you ride it...As for people laughing at you: Don’t let it bother or influence you. The ride is not that great...

I’d be curious to know what a sport bike rider would think of the older more sporty sportsters, 100lb less weight, less twisty frame due to a rigid mounted engine and better lean angles. They really morphed into hogs post 2004 with rubber mount frames. My old 2003 hugger feels much sportier than a newer Sportster.

Srk, 883 Sportster, Triumph Bonnie [and other smaller displacement bikes] are more fun here in So. Jersey than a Sportsbike. Our country roads, flat terrain don't require a high HP 160 mile an hour bike, overkill. Heavy cruisers, touring bikes out of their element, in my opinion. HAVE FUN ON A LIGHTER BIKE. riding posture. That is important, if ur aching after a bit, ur looking to get back home.

When I had my first bike, a Harley 883, I thought I was uncomfortable until I tried my buddies sport. We swapped and I didn’t even make it 2 miles before I wanted my sportster back. From that point forward my 19 year old young ass didn’t feel so sore after seeing what sports do lol 😂. I feel like a dog bowed up taking a shit when on a sport. I’ve refused to ever try another one

I’ve had my eyes on a 2019 iron 883 for a few months now, i’ve been doing my research first as i’ve heard some negative reviews recently about harley and there aftercare when it comes to manufacturing flaws i.e fork paint corrosion and some new bikes not starting at all.

    • @joshualandry3160

Not something I would worry about. Warranty has you covered if you have a problem out of the gate and these bikes are known to last. I've been riding my 883 for about 8 months and it really delivers. Chances are excellent you won't have any issues with the bike. There are a lot of complaints online about everything. Every manufacture has some sort of horrific review online most of which are exaggerated.
The two things you should know going in is that the clutch is a weak point and you will need to do some work on it eventually and messing with any non-Harley tune is going to void the engine warranty because the EPA sued Harley over it and made them stop honoring them.

    $1100 bucks turns the 883 into a 1200 with a harley-made kit .
Just finished my MSF. Probably getting an iron. Ride it stock while I learn to ride, and when I want more...I'll throw the 1200 kit on it.

Now I'm thinking about getting an 883 and restricting it to 48hp for a2 licence and then derestricting it after. Any opinions on my current choice? I've always wanted a harley.

kimberley wilson I don’t have any experience with this bike in particular, but cruisers in general have a very low seat height. I believe it’s only 26 inches on the 883. I guarantee at your height, that you would be able to put both feet flat on the ground. If you have a dealer in your area, you should go sit on one for a little while and see how it feels. It might seem weird, but it’s completely normal to just park your butt on a motorcycle for 5 minutes to get a feel for it.
