idc what anyone says about the 883 , it’s literally the bike that got me interested in motorcycles . The sound , the blackout , the road presence , a week after seeing that i got my MSF
Put some drag pipes on it and it sounds as big as all of them
@King Savage that is what all old men say that cant handle a long trip on one
@King Savage that's what all cruiser-dads say... just before not keeping up with me and then going on to say they were "taking in the scenery"
Last_Stach_Standing ! Blockhead is also a cool guy that rides an 883
@A1 Savage it's a nice...anyone who likes it..bike.
I have to say, its all in what someone prefers to ride. Who cares what someone else thinks? Just ride and ride often. It will be more than most who comment on these videos.
Well I just don't fit in, I put 49,000 k on my 883 the first season and got it late in the riding season. But we can't all ways ride what we like, hitting 70 had to trade my 650 Dr in for a C 50 just could get my late up and over it . but lucky I have not fond a bike I do not like. Would love a Ural but no dealers on the east cost of Canada.
Have you thought about buying one in the U.S and then shipping it to Canada? I rarely see a Ural and they are nice looking bikes which have a WW2 feel to it.
Yes I have but was told that if I did I would have no warranty . Not a good thing with a Ural
Amen !
King Savage your name says it all....LOL
Just got mine today! Never rode before, no brc yet but I'm excited to finally be a Harley owner. I waited so long to pull the trigger because buying a vehicle was such a daunting task but I saw the price of less than 7000 and had to grab me one
i bought a 883 iron today. not my first bike but first harley. ive been driving for the last two hours making connection. i think im in love
I like the sportier look, even if it isn't the fastest sport bike on the road. I don't spend a lot of time down at the track anyway.
Daniel Schumacher you're not built for that life
You're right about that!
Almost everyone I know who owns a fast bike only uses them to get to work and sometimes on the weekends. Wich isn't bad in any way I think everyone loves seeing a Hayabusa pull up but we all know they aren't actually using all that power
@@_LEONKING_ I tend to get cheaper, older bikes. The best of which this decade has been a nice 1990 Kawi 1000 Ninja. I like old stuff. It's still fast enough and way simpler than late model.
I love the blacked out look on these newer Harleys!
👍 mine will be in Tuesday. Will be riding with my 24 year old son, he just brought home the harley 1200cc. He will out run mine but all good to cruise with him!!! Great video thanks!!!!
Why would someone buy a bike and put only 70 miles on it? I can do that before breakfast.
Only thing I can think was it was a newbie who decided it wasn't for them. Still weird to think they would buy brand new for their first bike though.
NO SHIT LOL IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE
Maybe the dealer has it for test drives. Or just to "justify" a lower sales price.
Divorce?
Someone who got trounced in a drag race by their best friend who just bought a new bike because you (his friend) just got one. Only he didn't get an 883. Maybe he found a slightly used Moto Guzzi Griso or any one of a number of bikes. Some of which badly embarrass an 883 and that fact bothered him.
I absolutely LOVE the Sportsters!
I'm a skinner guy and I didnt want something huge and I got a 2017 superlow 883 and I've loved it
Fantastic review - honest (they really aren't very fast and scrape constantly), but also clarifies the spirit of the Sportster. Great for beginners, very forgiving, a reliable bike to learn on while modifying it to make it your own, and most riders can flat-foot comfortably. I'm about 110 lbs, 5'4", and have the 2016 for city driving bc it's lanky but well balanced and very agile. Sometimes it goes out motocamping in the country. Gets a bit squirrelly on gravel, but Rusty Butcher has shown us what the Sporty can do off-road if you have the time to put into the bike.
The 17 does have 8hp more than my 08 883. Now I feel jelly. And yes I agree u have to open them pipes. Mine has open se2 mufflers with lollipop baffles and I love the sound. Also a sport bike rider with a 2nd gen fz1. Both bikes have a place.
Get more just upgraded air cleaner.. different exhaust system alot more..and tuner probably 25-50% more power
For the record, I am a sport bike guy, but I was working at a Harley-Davidson dealership. The demo truck rolled in and I ask my boss, since I didn't have a lot of experience with the brand if I could take a bike out. He said i could ride as many as i wanted (I didn't know i was getting let go the next day!) I rode Sportsters, Street Glides, Softtails and more. The impression I came away with was the Sport Bikes and Harley's are apples and oranges. Yes they are motorcycles but the experience couldn't be more different. The Harley's were relaxed, muscular and amazing. I get it. There is something about riding a big Harley that you smile in your helmet and think heck yeah look at us!
ha ha most of the harleys rider don't smile much because they think they are too tough for that
Needs some Vance & Hines to cover-up the internal engine noises...(short shots)😆
Everyone and their gay boy friend has short shots. Cobra speedster 909.. be a real man, not a rainbow parade
Short shots best pipes.
Yes sir my friend has short shots on one of these with ape hangers
I have a 2008 sportster 1200 that I bought two months ago with 1300 miles. They older guy I bough it from just didn’t ride a much as he thought. I’ve recently changed my exhaust to the Vance and Hines staggered black exhaust and it helps me get noticed and sounds a lot better than the 883
thought i was sold on a Honda Rebel 500 for my first bike. my uncle showed me one of these and now I'm stuck. love the look and the modifications i've seen. so now i'm wondering if the 1k or 2k extra for the 883 is worth it.
Check out Matt Laidlaw doing a test drive on a stage 4 883, that will answer your question!
What did you end up buying? If you got the iron how do you like it?
I know this is an old comment, but when I was looking at getting into bikes I started out on a metric cruiser.
Then I rode a Harley for the first time.
I just like them more. It’s my personal taste. They’re like black liquorice; people will either love or hate a HD, and that’s fine.
Just bought a 2017 just like this with only 900 miles on it. Forward controls, drag specialties adjustable length shock. headlight fairing. Genuine HD leather two up seat and pegs, chin spoiler. backrest.
Looks like it just came off the showroom. Runs perfectly as a bike with only 900 miles should.
Lucky craigslist find.
I'm coming to the close of my riding days and been through the spectrum from 175cc to 1600cc. My current ride is a 2021 Iron 883 (beautiful Deadwood Green). I concur with what you said about power and speed, it has enough of both to be a fun ride.
I feel that if I ever was lost and ended up on those roads I should instantly know where I am and could make it back to the shop.
I used to race GSXRR on the track and ride a lowboy on the road.....this video is a very good explanation of what a Harley is compare to a superbike. 2 different mentalities. You either love bikes or you don't.
I have the olive green 2017 iron 883 and i love it im not trying to go 100+ so its fun
Brent Purvis I just bought a 97 883 Hugger, and I just like to cruise town, romp on it every now and then and just enjoy the ride. I don’t drive fast either and this bike is absolutely awesome! I love the Iron! Stay safe brother!
I love any harley in olive green, sexy ass color
Excellent video. Would you recommend this bike for a 6'2 feet beginner rider? I will appreciate your advice, thanks.
I would I got a 2016 used in June this year and best decision I made trading in my ninja 400. I'm 5 11 230lbs, my 883 came with forward controls and a fairing. My first mods were drag pipe exhaust, led headlight, air cleaner, saddle bags, passenger pegs, passenger seat. Next I'm getting risers, sissy bar, and fuelpak3. Did all those mods myself as well.
But you might regret not getting a 1200
Does it shift that loud into first or is he stomping it without the clutch all the way engaged ? Shifting sounds so rough
It sounds like that, I have a 2022 and you can hear the shifting, I think it's nice
Cobra 909 speedster pipes are a perfect match for the 883. Not too loud and flows way more than stock
2019 883 is my first bike and I love it!
that exhaust system was made to cruise Yosemite national park. where the noises bring down mountains inside the valley.
I really appreciate the video and helping me understand the 883. I am thinking about buying the 883 as a new rider.
I'd love one of these as a second bike, but I'm 6'3'. People seem to think this bike would be too small for me. I thought you were kind of tall, yet you say you're comfortable. What is your length?
What’s better the Harley forty eight sportster or this 883
Being a VERY new rider I sat on this plus bigger Harleys but I love and feel comfortable on the Iron. I know it shouldn't bother me but almost everyone I told about getting this they laughed at me. So should I buy a huge bike even though I've never rode just so I won't get laughed at? Why do people care what others ride?
Nick Ferdinande This bike is comfortable until you ride it...As for people laughing at you: Don’t let it bother or influence you. When it comes to spending your hard earned money: Buy what you want. As for this bike: Test ride it first, that way you’ll be able to make an informed decision before buying it. The ride is not that great...
Should never let other people's opinion matter to you that goes for in general aswell. End of the day youre riding a bike for you own reason and own pleasure
My first, and only bike, is a Honda rebel 250. I’m 6’3” 195 lbs and I know I look ridiculous on that bike. I don’t give a crap what people say or think about it. It’s a great bike to learn on, and more importantly it’s what I could afford.
@@isaac_bear My first bike was a Honda Rebel 250, they are wonderful bikes. I'm little 5'2" 95lbs so it actually fit me pretty good. I imagine you are a little scrunched up.
People always going laugh , they soft men ,who vent their hate ,where nobody can call their hand .(weasels) follow your heart life is short ,but strive be wise ,kind
A 2005 Sportster 883 was my first Harley. I loved that bike, but it took a long time to warm up. You cannot mistaken that HD sound to anything else.
I’d be curious to know what a sport bike rider would think of the older more sporty sportsters, 100lb less weight, less twisty frame due to a rigid mounted engine and better lean angles. They really morphed into hogs post 2004 with rubber mount frames. My old 2003 hugger feels much sportier than a newer Sportster.
He loves the magna
Standing at 6’2 would this be a good first timer bike?
get forward controls installed and it should be good
Iron 883 Best Harley Bike Of All Time!
I love the look of this bike. Reminds me of the classic cafe racers.
Dawgs241 the 883 is like the only Harley that appeals visually to me. None of that hippie vibe.
Dyna wide glide as well
Why does it sound weak.? Does the muffler/pipes make it sound louder? Any help
I just bought a 2016 883 and I love it I’m a super sport rider mostly and I wanted something to just cruise on and it’s a very forgiving motorcycle
i just got a 2016 883 last week ,
@@joelopez6439 2017 just today I got and love it
I love that grey colour. I’ve been driving cars for 20 years and now I’m about to get my bike licence. This bad boy will be my first bike! 🤘🏻
Did you end up getting it?
Did you buy it?
Hello from UK. Just bought a 2018 883 Iron with stage 1.
Been on a Blade for the last twenty years.
Am I disappointed? Hell no!
Gave up sporty (I'm 68) to just rumble down the road ( as my wife puts it) from now until I fade away.
Rumbling happily.
Ive a 1986 FXRS EVO 80 ci or 1340 cc , hand made frame designed by Eric Buell . My bike is an excellent ride , very fast rode it from No calif to Yellowstone , then Stergis
What are the differences between the iron and my wife's 883 superlow? Hers has a bigger tank, sits lower, and has shiny paint. Is there something on that one actually made of iron?
would you recommend this bike as a commuter? freeway and city combine.
It doesn't look bad, but I'd like to be able to get a color on it besides shades of gray.
Srk, 883 Sportster, Triumph Bonnie [and other smaller displacement bikes] are more fun here in So. Jersey than a Sportsbike. Our country roads, flat terrain don't require a high HP 160 mile an hour bike, overkill. Heavy cruisers, touring bikes out of their element, in my opinion. HAVE FUN ON A LIGHTER BIKE. 'I'd rather ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow". Thanks for your vid's.
Those are fun to ride and bulletproof. Sounds like valve ticking?
It's the fuel injectors making that noise ...
I sat on one today I'm_6.4 and it fit me great I'm getting one what model number is it?
The stock pipes and fuel mapping literally strangle the engine. Put on a good air intake, slip on exhaust and a V&H Fuelpak, and you gain (they say) 10% hp and torque. But it feels like more, and the throttle response is so much better. It pains me to see him review it like that, lol.
A sportster was my first Hadley. When I bought my road king I was kicking myself in the was for even messing with the sportster. It's not even close to any of the other models. If you like the sportster do yourself a favor and get a dyna. You won't eat as much depreciation.
What is great w a Sporty. . . so many ways to customize it. I have mini apes and forwards,
I have ridden hours at a time on the back main roads of FL. I can stretch out and be in a good
riding posture. That is important, if ur aching after a bit, ur looking to get back home.
U R so right about that, I do 60 on my wide glide and its like doing 40, but fifty or sixty on a
Sporty yeah that works for me.
I like that bike. Just needs some Harley Orange accents, maybe some pinstripes and the brake calipers. Pretty sweet!
What I love about sportsters are they are all 5 speed no matter 883 or a 1200. They are the most modifiable and cheaper than any other in the Harley line up to upgrade. Make it what you want and drive it til the wheels fall off.
actually they were all 4 speeds till 1992
What’s a "good" cruising speed? Basic Top speed?
I’m thinking of learning how to ride would this be a ideal beginner bike?
Does your Harley have that tick when under load
Do you still have the 883 if so I’m interested ASAP
Had this bike for two years, loved the looks the sound the whole buzz about it turning heads in the street, but the brakes and ride - forget it .
You got that right. Especially the ride, it is a rough riding bike.
@@Brooklyn_Powers youd be surprised with the right shocks and upgraded brake pads can do,,my 2003 rides pretty damn good
Sean I see you ride more cruisers than sports
I wish they had a tach, a bigger gas tank, and a taller seat. I like them a great deal but at 6'5" they just don't make a lot of sense. The Triumph Bonneville fits me better and checks those boxes even though i'd rather have an HD.
Lifters are ticking, a concern?
Sean,
Does this Sportster have 86 miles or 86,000 miles? I'm confused.
Anybody know what bars are on there? Are those the stock bars? They look like they contour down more.
Would this bike be a good one to choose coming from a sports bike ?
Whatever makes you happy and the free feeling while riding!!!! Who cares what the haters say!!!!
How tall are you buddy ??
I have a 2015 iron and love it there is nothing else out there like a Sportster.
Now my question is can you do wheelies?
It's a fun bike. Perhaps the Stage IV kit should be stock and... ah, the bike was discontinued. Shame.
Overheating problems with an air-cooled engine?
Definitely buying a newer used one, just passed the msf course and love Harley-Davidson..Plus its great for newer riders. I can always put aftermarket shit on it 🤗
Whats the gas mileage? Full tank i mean I plan on getting one and wanna drive it to work every day come spring
50 mpg on mine no holds bar - sometimes better 51-53 mpg on long highway rides in west texas. 2020 iron gets 150 miles to tank easy.
Whats with the gardening gloves?
When I had my first bike, a Harley 883, I thought I was uncomfortable until I tried my buddies sport. We swapped and I didn’t even make it 2 miles before I wanted my sportster back. From that point forward my 19 year old young ass didn’t feel so sore after seeing what sports do lol 😂. I feel like a dog bowed up taking a shit when on a sport. I’ve refused to ever try another one
im the same but opposite , the cruiser (m109 boulervard) was too heavy and slow , i will never buy another one again , i have a mt09 comfortable, powerful and light and i feel safer on it
I’ve had my eyes on a 2019 iron 883 for a few months now, i’ve been doing my research first as i’ve heard some negative reviews recently about harley and there aftercare when it comes to manufacturing flaws i.e fork paint corrosion and some new bikes not starting at all.
Not something I would worry about. Warranty has you covered if you have a problem out of the gate and these bikes are known to last. I've been riding my 883 for about 8 months and it really delivers. Chances are excellent you won't have any issues with the bike. There are a lot of complaints online about everything. Every manufacture has some sort of horrific review online most of which are exaggerated.
The two things you should know going in is that the clutch is a weak point and you will need to do some work on it eventually and messing with any non-Harley tune is going to void the engine warranty because the EPA sued Harley over it and made them stop honoring them.
$1100 bucks turns the 883 into a 1200 with a harley-made kit .
Just finished my MSF. Probably getting an iron. Ride it stock while I learn to ride, and when I want more...I'll throw the 1200 kit on it.
I do know there is a iron 1200 right?
How tall are you? I always wanted a sportster but at 6'2 Im not sure how well I'd physically fit on one. Never really took them seriously jsut because of that, but they're the only harleys I really like except for a few of the Dynas.
Bakhva Inasaridze I’m like 6’1 you’ll be fine
My dad is 6'3 and he loves his iron
You guys can just put forward controls and you'll be fine.
im 6 3 youll fit and i run stock mids with highway bars
I'm currently 18 and have been riding for 4 years. By riding I mean I had a chinese 50cc I bumped to 110cc. And then a Honda cbr125r. EU laws suck. Now I'm thinking about getting an 883 and restricting it to 48hp for a2 licence and then derestricting it after. Any opinions on my current choice? I've always wanted a harley.
Sportbikes are for racing not for highway! Sportbikers doesn't feel the harmony of motorcycling. Harley and other classic riders feel it!
Its not comparable. Two different sports and I love both.
Sometimes I like to lay in my sofa and eat chips. And other days I like to ride a snowboard down a steep mountain.😁
I went from a Gixxer to a Sportster. Its just a different attitude and look that I want when I'm riding.
Would the 883 be a good beginner bike?
Yes, it’s what I started on. It’s a lot of fun and it’s not so powerful that it’ll get you into trouble.
@@Brooklyn_Powers thank you.
william tustin You’re welcome! One thing I would suggest is for you to take it for a test ride: Before you buy it. It is a rough riding bike and it may not be a good fit, for you, in that regard...
Your thoughts on the cafe style bars on the Iron? I have loved the cafe style for decades. FINALLY getting serious. Prob could say mid-life and all that.
all i can hear is that cross plane yamaha music in the background.........such a good note.
is this bike a good first bike to learn?
What kind of shoes are you wearing??
I love my 2020 883 and I am keeping it.
I own a 883 XL Sportster and I love it it's a very fun bike to own
Should I get this bike or an mt 09 can't decide 😔
I’ve had a fz09 that’s what we call them in the us and the bike was fun but the suspension was ass ...good strong engine tho both bikes are good it just depends what kind of ridding I wanna do and style
I have a Harley Davidson sportster 883 but it’s weird I also owner on the Honda state line
How tall are you?… I’m eyeballin one online right now but I’m concerned about the size…
I'm 5 11, 230lbs and love it. Make sure to adjust the suspension before you leave the lot. Very customizable. I commute to work 60 miles round trip in the bay area does just fine.
How old do you have to be to enter the motorcycle giveaway?
Most cars in the 6 sec plus range 0-60. Before Tesla, cars in the 4-4.8 seconds were super expensive. Cars in the 3 second plus range cost a million dollars before Tesla
How tall are you ? I am 5.6 would a 883 be a good bike?
There low 5.6 is plenty y’all enough easy! Maybe not forward controls?
@@barrybell100 would this be a good bike for my Height ?
kimberley wilson I don’t have any experience with this bike in particular, but cruisers in general have a very low seat height. I believe it’s only 26 inches on the 883. I guarantee at your height, that you would be able to put both feet flat on the ground. If you have a dealer in your area, you should go sit on one for a little while and see how it feels. It might seem weird, but it’s completely normal to just park your butt on a motorcycle for 5 minutes to get a feel for it.
Why is the handle bar positioned weirdly?
I ride a 883 o7 add a screaming eagle race tuner ECU good pipes n air cleaner and it went from ok to very fast complete ly different bike
Loving the scripture dude keep it up
Landon Shaw gaaaaayyyyy
Lol some people. Yeah it’s awesome
bruce wayne is gay
You are too obsessed with speed, and too young to appreciate harley. . Theres no better bike for sunny day riding,
The fat controls, the engine note, the character, the big old fashioned clonk of the gears. .
They shouldnt be compared to other bikes. .
They are almost their OWN category. . An over 40's weekend toy
ahahahahahaha more like you cherish something far more than you should.
I'm not even a Bike person and I always thought Harley was on their own category, no other bike on the road looks as good or as original as a Harley and I just love seeing any Harley on the road they look so good
Better hope it’s not an over 40’s toy, Harley will die out with all ye old fuckers. Harley is doing pretty good in terms of appealing to the younger crowd, either evolve or Harley would die
Ok boomer.
@@chrisquas4113 idk bro I was outside today, sunny nice as hell out, and almost every bike I saw out there was a Harley....and there was a lot of them! A lot of younger riders as well
Hello. I'm 6'7. I think I'm too tall for that bike. It's a nice looking bike. Can I ask what cruiser you would recommend for a taller rider? I think I heard you mention the Vulcan 900 once in one of your videos. ( Just searched your videos, and yes in fact you do have one on the Vulcan for tall riders) Thanks! Really like both your channels. I'm in Joisey. Maybe one Saturday I'll stop by and check the bikes out. :)
Street Glides and Road Glides are pretty good for tall people and you can find good deals on Street Glides.
@@Doobie603 Thanks for the info.
Is this great first bike
How tall are you bro? For size reference
edgardo alimagno he’s 6’2

You’d have to sit on one and find out, I’m 6FT as well around 220” and I fit very well on this bike.
Hey fella !
Are those

How do u like them ?
