This nitro not only its cheap, but also one of the best on the market. First you need to review the updated "pivot ball" suspension version, which is much more robust and does not flex. Second, a few aluminum upgrades and it easily matches the RS4 or Kyosho in terms of quality and performance. One of my most used nitro's. Oh, and lets not forget super cheap parts, once you need them, and you will need them!
There's a newer pivot ball version, "94122", which has much less play in the suspension & wheel hubs, and a redesigned radio box with more room; it's a straight rectangle instead of that "L" shape. The one you've got, "94102", has c-link suspension. If you add m3 washers wherever there's gaps between the pins and arms, you can remove some of that play. I like that all the parts are still readily available & the engine is dirt cheap, so you can bash the hell out of it without running up a repair bill. I got mine to do 39mph stock, with upgraded engine & an 18/23T clutch bell I hit 50mph. There's some clips of that one on my channel.
People say these cars are hard to tune and with the stock carburetor that is pretty much true. A very cheap fix for this is the Traxxas pro.15 carb. Direct fit with no modification easy to tune the idle is flawless and seems to me like it produces more power.
My first ever nitro was a HSP (Himoto) and for its price it was a happiness short lived. The good thing about Himoto is that alu parts come dime a dozen and everything can be replaced with a swear word and a screw driver. Plastic Himoto parts just don't last. They simply don't. Just don't.
I just Bought the same flying fish off of Alibaba for 199.00 everything included. It was like a Christmas specail deal. I was blown away by the quality of the 1/10 nitro. NOW I understand to keep the price point down alot of items had to be sacrificed for cheaper parts such as the plastic suspension mounts plastic steering linkages and the worst and this one really pissed me off was the analog slow ass non digital servos for $5 dollars more they could of hooked these bad boys up with. but hey like I said thats how they keep the price point down.
You mention spare parts which is at the top of the list for many people, however what is want to stress about HSP redcat Himoto Exceed is that the spare parts are available from online retailers AND you can order them direct from china using cheap Chinese shopping apps. This means the chances of not getting a part are virtually nil. You can buy just a painted bodyshell, just a drive shaft, a new engine or just a piston and sleeve.
I have one that I've spent way to much time and as much money on haha, wireless remote electric starter, custom aluminum rear exit exhaust for that realism and every aluminum upgrade part available. One of my most reliable nitros though.
Hmmm I think in the long run it’s worth spending more bucks on a more reliable machine. I’ve only recently started watching your videos and only recently started thinking about getting into nitro. Just bought an hsp nitro truck and after looking at your video I’m going to return it and maybe go for a Hpi bullet nitro. The problem with having a cheap car with faults that you just pointed out would certainly put one off once it starts falling apart. The only problem with the Hpi bullet nitro is no 2 gearbox, maybe there is an upgrade? Please keep your presentations coming really enjoy it. That accent of yours, which part of the states, sounds really cool . This is Ricky from down under regards
Good clip. I'd like to add turnbuckles for camber for good points. Bad points, them tyres are not evenly glued causing a lot of wobble. Overall, great to see a cheap nitro still on the market.
I would have never got into rc without this very car and it's price point I wouldnt own over a dozen now. Mine is now a shelf queen with an os .18 tz sitting in it and a Tamiya lancia delta body. Original vx motor sitting next to it still runs as well
hey man! I love your point of view! This is a great chassis to get into nitro RC on the cheap, totally right!! Did you say 18TZ, now that is an amazing engine!!
I own one myself and everything you said true. I believe an aluminum upgrade kit can solve some of the issues and definitely strengthen the plastics. Looking forward to your test drive video 💪👍
hey my dude! Thanks for checking out this video and confirming my points on the good vs bad items! A test drive is in the works already, lets just hope it does not kill itself before we can test out that 2-speed shift, lol!
Excellent in depth review of the HSP! It is very nice to know what the good and the bad are! Overall, I think it’s a good second or third car to have based on the review! Thank you Hybrid!
I'm glad you drop this video. I was just about to order one today lol. What setup would you recommend for a newbie to get started in nitro? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
hey my dude! I'm glad I was able to help you out with this video! I would highly recommend you pick up a Traxxas Nitro Slash from one of the amain links in this video (check the in-stock nitros link). For a beginner it's important to get a model with great parts support and durability like the Traxxas brand. This one is DOPE too, dont get me wrong, but this is something which you're going to have to take it easy with and not much parts support, you know!
thank you bro! A test drive is in the works already, lets just hope it does not kill itself before we can test out that 2-speed shift, lol! Yes, these are good for the money, but not beyond that, you know.
Great vid as always nice you done a review on this i got a few if these cheap wen a shop closed use them now instead of my hpi's cant fault them you should do a speed test against a hpi rs4. Take care
I'm hopefully gonna get a new Nitro soon possibly a on road car maybe the monster truck will see I just recently got a aarma senton from my dad and I'd love to make it faster plus I want to put a little time and money in to the sunfire buggy I have same chassi as the onload car you have any my T3 electric stadium truck just can't find anybody that has the screws in for the spur gear to help with it.
Good? : engine fires up first crank : Bad? Car will never run straight , pulls to either side what ever you do , You need to dissasemble the entire chassis to remove or change a single part , bad design , non hex screws.....
hey man! I must say you're totally correct on the good and bad points. I have done a follow-up running video and it ran extremely squirrley, (you will eventually hear me say that so you know it's true and real). This is one of those models where you gotta just be happy with what it is, lol.
hey man! I just looked up the FTX bonsai nitro and it looks like a VRX clone model. This particular HSP is an older design, id say the FTX is better in a couple ways from the looks of the header and nicer engine alone.
Thanks man, the car you reviewed - I couldn’t live with the spaghetti front suspension 😂 if the Banzai was related in anyway I’m not interested! Great vid bro
hey bro! YES!! Once again, special thanks to you for sending this to me!! I'm recording a real drive video with this chassis soon, we will hear the on-board 2-speed BABY soon!
NO i won't buy nitro . What i have bought though is the new HSP HISPEED GT 3S BRUSHLESS model instead , hobbywing /motor / electronics , 15 kg metal servo , new strong polycarbonate NSX body shell , with completely new strong plastic chassis from the old flying fish chassis cars , similar in design to kyosho fazer mk2 etc .
hey my dude! Yes I have a couple HPI trophy Truggy 4.6 vids on this channel. Some were LIVE streams so they could be long. I'm in the process of filming a good running video with my own soon. I'd say if you can get it for a good price, you cannot go wrong. They need a taller clutch bell for some good speed passes btw, otherwise I have no complaints.
NItroGang! Any nitro is a good nitro lol, what do you all think?
I had to do the same to my kids dromida dt18 because the steering is the same. Never tracks straight
I had to replace the steering servo for my friend, but I also have 1 that I put through lots of runtime and it has survived
Yes!!
Give China no Chance. Kids, save a bit more money and stick to the big brands. You wont regret a high quality RC, but you will regret the cheap ones.

Thank you!

Great coverage bud. It’s nice to see someone is taking the time to call out the good, bad and the ugly. 👍
hey my dude! Thanks man! I'm glad to know you're appreciating the FAIR review I'm doing. No bias, just TRUTHFUL nitro facts! lol..
Hola no consigo hacer funcionar la 2 velocidad , el embrague es nuevo
Que mala suerte!.

I fell asleep at 2.15 am... going watch the rest this evening.... keep up the good work
Excellent in depth review of the HSP! It is very nice to know what the good and the bad are! Overall, I think it’s a good second or third car to have based on the review! Thank you Hybrid!
I either pick this flying fish vs serpent 1/8 .21 engine, you mentioned the engine is OEM nova Rossi? True or not? It seems good deal.
Some flex is good but not in the steering truer words have never been spoken
They 200 bucks over here bud on nitro tec UK great over view bro
hey my dude! that's a good deal, these usually sell for around 270 here in the USA. And they have become pretty rare also.
I picked one up on eBay for £70 runs great
I'm glad you drop this video. I was just about to order one today lol. What setup would you recommend for a newbie to get started in nitro? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Great video hybrid! I’ve wondered about these hsp for awhile and look forward to a running video.

There's a drifter Nitro here with a Force .21 engine for £199 RTR
Great vid as always nice you done a review on this i got a few if these cheap wen a shop closed use them now instead of my hpi's cant fault them you should do a speed test against a hpi rs4.

How about HSP 94122???
What do you think?
Any nitro is a good nitro nitrogang ❤
I got 1 brand new for 100 bucks new servos, does ok 4 tec kicks its ace tho
I'm hopefully gonna get a new Nitro soon possibly a on road car maybe the monster truck will see I just recently got a aarma senton from my dad and I'd love to make it faster plus I want to put a little time and money in to the sunfire buggy I have same chassi as the onload car you have any my T3 electric stadium truck just can't find anybody that has the screws in for the spur gear to help with it.
Awesome video !!! I love my HSP nitro 2 speed buggy !!!
Rather have it flexing than breaking not like it's a serious race car just a basher
Looks good and sounds good.
thank you man!!
I heard they are pretty good man
Seems like a pretty darn solid car for the money 👍
Your Dern Tootin the fish is fun upgrade front end for next to nothing and let her rip 50 dollar motors
I like the way you talk subbed
I like this car i had the drift version
Hey bro!! Yes for the price it cannot be beat i agree.
I have 2 of these..they run ok enough..the body is super fragile..like glass!
I gotta say you're 100% correct!! Also these bodies will melt and deform if you leave them in a hot car (ask me how I know?, lol). jk.
whats better a electric or gas?
Hey buddy, that is a pretty in-depth question, both have their benefits, I will tell you running a gas card is totally different from an electric

Maybe a stearing servo working with lag or low weight power? Mine is working slow and laging when returning to 0 position.
Does anyone know if this car is related in anyway to the FTX Banzai? Ta
no, not the same
right answer!! lol thanks!
hey man! I just looked up the FTX bonsai nitro and it looks like a VRX clone model. This particular HSP is an older design, id say the FTX is better in a couple ways from the looks of the header and nicer engine alone.
@@hybrid32494if I recall the ftc doesn't have 2 speed standard but you can get it as an option part.
Thanks man, the car you reviewed - I couldn’t live with the spaghetti front suspension 😂 if the Banzai was related in anyway I’m not interested! Great vid bro
Love the wheels 🛞 NWO 👊👍
thank you my dude!! Yes, those are like the cheapest wheels and tires you could get on amazon lol.
She has a lot of flexibility!!
yes bro lol! It was a top performer in GYMNASTICS! ahahaha. Flex it's got for sure, but it's pretty tough to wreck due to this also.
Mueller Roads
Why didn’t you mention why it’s calling the flying fish?
Because it’s scale 😂😂😂
Lol!! Good point!! Haha.
looks good
hey Allen!! Yes, this thing is not bad value for the money, and the 2-speed is highly reliable.
Flying fish forever!!!!!
hey bro! YES!! Once again, special thanks to you for sending this to me!! I'm recording a real drive video with this chassis soon, we will hear the on-board 2-speed BABY soon!
