Argentière Glacier is one of the larger glaciers found within the Mont Blanc massif, and is situated above the village of Argentière. It lies perpendicular to the Chamonix valley and falls within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
The glacier originates around 3,400 meters in a glacial cirque. The Argentière refuge is located in the heart of this circus, at more than 2,700 meters. Further downstream, the glacier is dominated by three peaks over 4,000 meters: Les Droites, La Grande Rocheuse and Aiguille Verte. From its source to the valley of Chamonix, the Argentière Glacier is nine kilometers long.
