  • In this video, we take you to the streets of Chamonix (winter), the ski areas and the most famous off piste ski run in the world: La Vallée Blanche. Get our FREE Ultimate Guide to Chamonix Mont-Blanc: bit.ly/3kNC8AU
    Chamonix is world famous for its little town which is located at the foot of the Mont-Blanc, Europe's highest mountain at 4,810m.
    This mountaineering and vibrant town offers a unique experience like no other with breathtaking views of the impressive Aiguilles Rouges, Aiguille du Midi, Aiguille du Dru, Aiguille Verte...
    Skiing safely off-piste with a guide equipped with ropes, harness and crampons down the notorious "La Vallée Blanche" surrounded by beautiful ice caves is a unique experience you will remember for the rest of your life.
    Chamonix's scattered 5 ski areas of Grands Montets, Les Houches, Le Tour/Balme, La Flégère/Le Brévent (both linked) offers skiers and snowboarders a fantastic playground for all skiing abilities.
    For off-pistes skiers, look no further, it is a thrill seeker's paradise with so much off piste terrain and off course the most famous off-piste ski run in the world, "La Vallée Blanche" which finishes off with the iconic red Montenvers Mer de Glace cog wheel train down to Chamonix (must have lunch at Refuge du Montenvers - extraordinary views!).

    Who is Gilles Riou from Top Snow Travel?!
    Top Snow Travel's Founder and a world-class ski enthusiast who understands the needs of a luxury ski holiday.
    His expertise comes from having skied at more than 70 SKI RESORTS around the world, including Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and more than 40 different ski resorts in FRANCE alone.
    Not only has he explored the French Alps while on holidays from his current home in Australia, he has also spent much of his childhood & adolescence on these remarkable mountains.
    From just 2 years old until he was 15, Gilles was fortunate enough to visit his family-owned home at a ski resort in the French Alps called Valfréjus. Every school holiday, his loved ones and himself would leave their home in Paris and enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of this stunning mountain region. It was here that he developed a sincere love for the sport of skiing, as well as a wealth of knowledge regarding the best places to stay and ski. These memories stayed with him long after he moved to Australia as a teen.
    After school, Gilles spent the first decade of his career working in the travel and tourism industry selling worldwide ski holidays to the Australian market. However, Gilles knew he had more to offer so he decided to venture out on his own.
    "In 2015, Top Snow Travel was created to give fellow Aussies the incredible experience of elite skiing on some of the very best slopes in the world. My desire to share this passion with others is just one of the reasons Top Snow Travel is a top-rated ski travel company today"

    I hiked the Vallee Blanche in summer in reverse from Montenvers up to the Summit of the Aiguille du Midi! Much slower than on skis so we spent a night en route at the Refuge de Requin up on the rocks above the Geant Ice-Fall! Spectacular Scenery. And then a few days later we hiked with crampons & ice-axe to the summit of Mt Blanc @ 4807m! Awesome Views!

Chamonix - Brévent gondola pedestrian lift tickets return comes to 35€ per person. You can also get pedestrian gondola ticket to go up l'Aiguille du Midi and admire the stunning views there! There are plenty of winter activities in Chamonix Mont-Blanc for non skiers too. Thanks for watching!

      For La Vallée Blanche off-piste run, there are several routes you can take and they vary from the intermediate-friendly Classic route to the expert-only Grand Envers du Plan. You don’t have to master all blacks first if you go the easy route 😊

    No mention of Grand Montets or Le Tour. Both areas that should be on anyones itinerary for Chamonix.

    How does Chamonix compare to Whistler and Aspen? Anyone been to all three?

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  Рік тому

      Been to all 3 😊
      Chamonix is a town, not a village like Whistler and is much bigger and more spread out than Aspen although the ski area in Aspen is tiny if you excludes Snowmass and butter milk.
      Chamonix is low in altitude and not purpose built so you don’t get ski in ski out accommodation unless you’re near Plan Praz gondola and that’s if there’s snow all the way down the bottom.
      Chamonix is stunning for its peaks, the views are incredible and the off-piste is world class. You do have to drive around like Aspen to access the other mountains (snowmass, buttermilk, highlands) but in Whistler, it is just 1 linked ski area.
      If you want something like Whistler, but with more mountain traditional style instead , go to Val d’Isère or Méribel.
      The ski areas are much bigger than Whistler Blackcomb or Aspen Mountains.
      Here is some info on both ski resorts:

    Do you have to have a guide?

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  2 роки тому

      It's not mandatory to have a guide when going off-piste like skiing down La Vallée Blanche however we strongly recommend it, you don't want to fall into a crevasse. Having a local guide is really reassuring and more relaxing plus you get to find out a lot more from their experience about the area. We wouldn't have it any other way 😊

    It's not Europes highest peak though as claimed here....Mount Elbrus is...Mont Blanc is the highest peak in The Alps

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  2 роки тому

      Mont-Blanc is the highest in the Alps and European Union. Mount Elbrus is at the intersection of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Yes, it is the highest if you define Europe as the Eurasian continental plate. No one does that unless you’re also prepared to accept that Armenia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are also part of Europe. Have you seen where Mount Elbrus is located on a map?

    • @JustBrowsing777
      @JustBrowsing777 2 роки тому

      @@topsnowtravel I know exactly where it is and Mont Blanc is officially the highest peak in western Europe but not on the continent of Europe. It's not a matter of opinion, it's facts.

    • @topsnowtravel
      @topsnowtravel  2 роки тому

      Maybe we should change it to Mont-Blanc European Union's highest peak 😊
