And there's Andy up there on stage with them. He died tragically at a very young age. A very talented family! Brought many years of joy with their music!!
Was it a hit? It was HUGE man! I know, I was 8 when this came out and I remember it VERY well, it got a lot of radio play. Glad the younger generation thinks that just because it's "old" it's not worthless and as an "old" guy it's nice to see this music is appreciated. In a world of sampling, fully digital tracks, no musicality, and people who can't really play an instrument or sing without an autotune keep looking back to the classics. Not classic to ME but trust me, in about 20-30 years, who will be remembered in the current charts? 1, 2, 3 at most. Remember Mozart? Still played and he died in 1791!
Bee Gees were not disco men, their songs were just produced with great melody, groovy with lyrics that made everyone great pleasure in listening or watching their performances 🎉❤😊
This is where line dancing started from the movie Saturday Night Fever. Which also started John Travolta's career. He's always been a terrific dancer, though!
When Travolta starts dancing, your laugh is contagious. "Le's go, man!" But we seriously wished we could dance like that! It was right at the beginning of Disco.

Those dance floor clips from the movie are what dance clubs (discos) looked like back then. As you can see, nightlife, clothes, dancing, hair, etc. has changed a lot over the last 40 years.
I'm 62 so I grew up on this type of music, and the Bee Gees were one of my favorite groups,I would play their song (Love So Right) over and over.I hope you'll check it out.they did alot of the songs for the movie Saturday Night Fever. And Barry wrote pretty much all The group songs. He the only one alive.Check out (Love So Right)
This and a lot of their hits were on the soundtrack for the movie Saturday Night fever starring John Travolta. That's who you see dancing in the club. One of the best soundtracks ever to any movie!
Just for future reference, even though this came out in 76 and was part of the Saturday night fever soundtrack from 77. This performance was from their spirit tour in 1979. I was there
This is sound tracks from the movie:Staying alive, more than a woman , night fever, how deep is your love, you should be dancing,if i can't have you.All from the saturday night fever.
Finally you're getting to see one of the videos with baby brother Andy! The dancing scenes are famous actor John Travolta from the movie masterpiece Saturday Night Fever, the best film ever about New York night life, which this song was from. And yes, this was a HUGE hit.
That's John Travolta dancing in the film Saturday night fever they made allot of music for the film all disco music the scene was great back then, the clubs were buzzing, I'm so pleased I lived through this era, thank you 🇬🇧
Just watching your reaction and joined your channel recently. Love your enthusiasm for the Bee Gees! I am another who was alive in this era! I was born in 1962 so I was a teenager when this was going on! In my honest opinion, the movie Saturday Night Fever would have been a flop had it not been for the Bee Gees and their amazing music!! Love their songs!!! Am so grateful I was alive during that time to witness this as it was happening. So happy to see all these reactions to the music we enjoyed back in the 70s!! Best years for music and to grow up in!! Love your reactions!! :-)
79 Spirits Tour, first time and I think the only time Andy ever performed on stage together with his brothers. It’s sad to think that that he was officially going to become the fourth member of The Bee Gees in the late 80s, but unfortunately he died soon after discussions.
The dance scenes are from the movie Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta. Several BeeGee songs were featured in the movie including You Should Be Dancing.
Omgosh...it's amazing when I see reactors discover "Saturday Night" John Travolta and the Bee Gees ..also the Amazing fourth Bee Gee younger brother Andy❤️❤️❤️
The song was their third Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 and their sixth No. 1 in Canada. It ended as the No. 31 song of the year.[6] In the '70s some of the Bee Gees' songs were deemed too uptempo for AC/Easy Listening Radio which led to "You Should Be Dancing" only reaching No. 25 on that chart.[7] It also hit No. 4 in Ireland. In Australia, where the brothers spent a number of years in their youth, it managed only to nick the top 20. "You Should Be Dancing" is known today as the first chart-topper in which Barry Gibb uses his now-trademark falsetto in a lead vocal (he had previously used it on the top 10 "Nights on Broadway" and on "Fanny (Be Tender with My Love)"). Earlier songs, such as "Jive Talkin'", had Gibb use a melodic blue-eyed soul vocal style.
Just looking at the 3 that have passed, just get chills and sad they are gone!! Are you kidding, one their biggest hits, with John Travolta on the dance 🕺!! Love they way you enjoy their music, like many of us do till this day!
When Saturday Night Fever came out, you had to be 12 to watch it. I was a very small girl and they would’nt let me enter the cinema. I cryed so hard and demanded them to call my mom to ask her my age. The quard sneaked me inn than 🥰
❤❤ I just love watching you discover this classic, timeless, great music ! I still listen to this stuff often ! Especially when I'm out in my workshop !❤❤
This is considered their first disco hit. You Should be Dancing went to #1 on Billboard's top 100. The man sharing mic with Maurice is younger brother Andy Gibb. He had a solo career but joined his older bros on stage for this song
Most of the songs from Andys solo career were written by his brothers. So even though it was a solo career, the music was still pretty much Bee Gees. :) But then again, the brothers Gibb made a heck of a lot of music for other performers as well, from Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton (Islands in the Stream) to Dionne Warwick (Heartbreaker, one of my absolute favorite 80's songs).
Love that Andy is with them too! I saw on their documentary during the concert Maurice said to Andy, “Can you believe this shit?!” Andy was amazed being on stage at such a big concert.
The world certainly lost a unique voice when Robin died. I just love the refrains on "Alone" and "For Whom The Bell Tolls". And his own song "Another Lonely Night In New York"...
@@raineyj560 In interviews the Bee Gees have said they didn't do drugs while on tour....but especially when their families were with them....which they were the entire Spirits Tour🎼!
The dancer is actor John Travolta who was a dancer before he was an actor, and the dancing clips are from 'Saturday Night Fever' that he starred in and that this song is from the soundtrack of. The young guy clapping around the stage and singing next to Maurice is Andy, the youngest Gibb who was a decade younger than his brothers (and their non-singing sister) and had a very successful solo career but was about to join his brothers in the band when he died just days after his 30th birthday.
Gotta request JIVE TALKIN", and TRAGEDY. So many more, too! Like you said--and its true--they never wrote a bad song! Whatever you choose will be great! Pure talent. Enjoy the rabbit hole!
The dude dancing in tge club is JOHN TRAVOLTA, FROM THE FILM SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. YOU NEED TO WATCH IT. ITS ALL BEE GEES SONGS AS TGEY WERE ASKED TO WRITE AND PERFOM TGE MUSIC FOR TGE ENTIRE FILM. THAT ALBUM WAS FINALLY KNOCKED OFF THE ALL TIME TOP SELLING ALBUM BY MICHAEL JACKSONS THRILLER.
First time watching you watch this video, And It Amazes me to see you watch of the time that I lived and your reaction, Saturday Day Night Fever, John Travolta and The Bee Gees were a huge hit, And I guess It will always be a hit If your Generation Is just discovering them..
In case you didn't recognize the dancer is John Travolta really young. This song was part of the score from "Saturday night fever"s movie. Big phenomena when it came out in 1979 if I recall properly 7:11
You have to be one of my favorie reactors; ESPECIALLY to the Bee Gees! When you introduced this song and you said "1976 WOOOO that was a LONG TIME AGO" you reminded me how many years YOUNG I am😂😅 lol This is one of my favorite videos. They were giving the crowd quite a concert and Andy on stage with his brothers makes it even more special.. You're definitely going to enjoy going down that rabbit hole my friend! ❤❤❤❤
It's so sad that Barry.. the oldest brother is the only one still alive.. he's buried 3 brothers.. can't imagine the pain... I've buried 1 sister and she was older than me.. Barry has buried all his younger siblings..
Andy joined them this night ♥️♥️ if you can, watch the live concert- I am telling you, concerts are not the same now. Please give a listen to “A Woman in Love” collab between Barry and Barbara Streisand.
The Bee Gees were fortunate to have had two mega careers. The first with soft pop and ballads in the 60’s, and then they were the kings of disco in the 70’s.
My Dearest A Dogg! ...1. DISCO! 2. The youngest Gibb brother Andy was on stage with them for this one. He is mostly sing with Maurice, but at times goes over to Barry. (Andy looked alone like Barry)
Check'em out with their overbanger 'Tragedy'! But what's been the tragedy in that year, they dominated charts worldwide and the SNF-album shot thru' every roof like a rocket to the stars? They've been ignored by the academy and nobody remembers the name of the music-oscar-winner that year. They would have deserve it much more than many of those, which have got it, all over the years!
The dancer is John Travolta from the movie Saturday Night Fever. The soundtrack was the biggest selling soundtrack of all time for YEARS!
Don't forget about Fran Dresher in the background with her hands on her hips (2:55 mark)
Pretty sure it still is.
Amazing that John Travolta was the star of 2 movies that were in the top 5 best selling / most popular soundtracks of all time!!!!
It was the best selling soundtrack until Whitney Houston's The Bodyguard🎼.

Wish they'd included Andy in their group ... he may not have gone down the path he did ... 😥

8 of the 17 tracks was written by Bee Gees. Well, technically 7, but "More Than A Woman" was performed by both Bee Gees and Tavares.
I was hooked as soon as I saw you digging The Bee Gees this much. Warms my 70s dancing heart!!! ❤
