In case there's any confusion for those watching: The EXP pattern on the reference card is not a pattern you can do in any order. It MUST be completed in the order shown: blue, green, yellow, and then red. (The same order as the asset columns on the player board.) You can rotate it, but you can't mix up the pattern, so it's not just one of each. The creators have confirmed this several times, but a lot of UA-cam playthroughs so far have missed this and just referred to it as having one of each without any particular order being required.
I personally thought that was obvious from your playthrough especially because you kept referring to it as a pattern but rotated. So thank you for a great playthrough. @@TotallyTabled

It really is. I love the sliding puzzle mechanism, but this is my sort of thing. I'd love to see this more, especially in a more Euro-ish game. But the co-op scenario based gameplay in Tamashii is great and not as complex as it looks. Thanks for checking out the video!

Amazing video! I made the exact same mistake with the exploration tokens as well on my first game. Oh well. You’re correct you can only launch each pattern once, but I believe there’s an exception for the basic asset patterns, that they can be done multiple times per launch phase. (edit - see below - I'm wrong about this, and the video is correct!)

@@TotallyTabledSome years ago, friends of mine worked on a Shadowrun game that combined dice rolling and then inserting the rolled results into a slide puzzle matrix to trigger skills and effects. It was a spectacularly well though out and working concept. Unfortunately the game never made it to publicity or campaign level due to licensing / legal issues. Until today, the small glimps I had into that system stuck with me and I hope sombody will eventually pick it up and flesh it out properly. The slide puzzle mechanic on its own deserves more utilization.

I'm actually very familiar with that feeling -- I was a screenwriter in another life and despite a few successes and super close calls, none of my work was ever filmed. On the other hand, it speaks volumes on your character, passion and discipline. When it comes to your UA-cam work, these qualities definitely shine. Especially the tutorial videos and your flawless combining of organic gameplay with "scripted" progress / events is unmatched. 52:06 Are you actually allowed to use more than one die at a time during combat? From the rules I understood that you use dice one by one, even if the frame allows multiple dice. It's just that you can use that frame with one die on each of the combat rounds. (Of course, in this scenario, The Oracle had already attacked, so it would not matter too much. But I just wanted to clarify. Thank you
31:51= just so I get it right, dont you have to block all damage or no damage when using green defence slots? You blocked 1 damage and took 1 damage. Or do i understand it wrong?
I only had one shield, so I used all my shields and then took the leftover damage. If I had two shields, I'd have to use both of them -- I wouldn't be able to choose to spend only one. To put it another way, you must spend all the shields you can to stop as much of the damage as you can. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Ah, I see the confusion. What I was trying to do there was kill the enemy in one turn before they could attack me back. To do that I needed 3 basic attacks on the dice so I could play them all at once. That meant I needed to reroll both dice. Sorry for the confusion.
Oh I think I get it. Is that because the big attack can only be used once and would be resolved before the small attacks anyways? I was thinking about just rolling the blank and hoping for another big hit to do 4 damage? But I guess that's not possible
Question: at 29:46 you state that programming successfully created the hack attack pattern, but, if i am not mistaken, isnt that which you created a Mirrored version of the one that is described? Meaning its not viable?
@@Kushaja1 There are patterns where mirroring would result in a unique sequence that couldn't be achieved through rotation. I believe the rule refers to those patterns. Long story short, rotation is always fine.

Not sure if your goof on the exploration tokens made it harder or easier since I feel like at the beginning it made it harder but easier later when you had the hack effect nuking the level 2 enemies 😅

I love the integration of the little tile placing minigame and the look of everything, but I wonder if the gameplay loop will become too repetitive and consequently boring. I'm so on the fence with this one.
That is a fair concern. I've not experienced that feeling, but I'm less likely to find a game repetitive because I don't binge play my games and I'm constantly playing different types of games. So I'm a bad judge for what people might consider a lack of replayability. Maybe try before you buy if possible? Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled Been a while, but I saw it on sale along with the lost pages expansion and decided to just go for it. Its quickly become my go to relax game since its still got depth in tactics whilst also being low stakes (it doesn't really matter if you have to reset, rolling for trace is fine since enemies give you experience, etc.). I also love that its a campaign whilst still resetting the core gameplay every time, again makes it feel more relaxing. Component quality is just as fantastic as I thought it would be as well. I do think the expansion is quite vital to keep things fresh, the living city cards really adds to the feeling of exploration. I've decided to be responsible and not completely binge the game, but it doesn't feel repetitive at all since the patterns are constantly changing between factions, bodies, learning protocols and the scenarios themselves. Anyway, thanks for the playthrough, not only did it answer all my rule questions during my first game, but it's also what convinced me to give this game a shot in the first place!

However, I feel like the general public understands that entertainement is transactionable and, fundamentally, there is a need for it to be sustainable. It's the difference between selling and supporting honestly. You would only be selling your videos if you would be making a profit (which would be fine either way). Until then it would be simply supporting your videos! Because if they are not sustainable to make then there is always the risk of them not being made anymore.

Does it matter if you add the stretch goal enemies to the enemies deck? I mean it will be a thicker deck for sure, and there will be more lvl1 enemies on top. Or will lvl2 ones always be drawn from the bottom of the deck, not the deplete-level-ones-from-top way?

This is absolutely incredible thankyou. Must confess for an AwakenRealms "lite" game I have been more confused that i did either with Nemesis or The Great Wall! So many questions about where things go in the inserts (even cards, Cyber Cat?!) and even confused which minis represent which characters as they are different to the card art. At least with this our first game wont be as bumpy as it would have been if i had just muddled through the rules!
Getting going is quite confusing, I agree. Once you get it, the gameplay is very smooth. But learning isn't the easiest, and I hope my video helps a bit. Thanks so much for watching!
I might make a review when I've played more scenarios. I just haven't seen enough of this game to give any sort of final thoughts. In general, so far, I've really enjoyed my plays. I love the slide puzzle mechanism at the core of the game. If that doesn't appeal to you, then I would maybe look elsewhere. The story is interesting, but not so gripping for me that I'm playing for the story. No, I'm playing for the slide puzzles and the fun dice combat. I would love to see this slide puzzle mechanism in a medium-heavy euro game. Still, I think most people would have a great time with this. I might prefer it with two players, actually. But the solo works great. Great game IMHO but YMMV. :) Thanks for watching!

Hey the order does matter but you can rotate it 360 degrees. You can't mirror patterns.

Right. You can only do the big attack once per round. So a second big attack wouldn't have helped.

When using shields, either you use them all, or you don't but you can't mix shield and wounds. Great video btw.
When did I do it wrong? If you use all your shields then you take any leftovers as wounds.

You can only launch each pattern once per round.

Does it matter if you add the stretch goal enemies to the enemies deck? I mean it will be a thicker deck for sure, and there will be more lvl1 enemies on top. Or will lvl2 ones always be drawn from the bottom of the deck, not the deplete-level-ones-from-top way?
I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but from my memory I don't see a downside to adding them in. That shouldn't affect anything. Thanks for watching!
This is absolutely incredible thankyou. Must confess for an AwakenRealms "lite" game I have been more confused that i did either with Nemesis or The Great Wall!
So many questions about where things go in the inserts (even cards, Cyber Cat?!) and even confused which minis represent which characters as they are different to the card art. At least with this our first game wont be as bumpy as it would have been if i had just muddled through the rules!
Getting going is quite confusing, I agree. Once you get it, the gameplay is very smooth. But learning isn't the easiest, and I hope my video helps a bit. Thanks so much for watching!

I might make a review when I've played more scenarios. I just haven't seen enough of this game to give any sort of final thoughts. In general, so far, I've really enjoyed my plays. I love the slide puzzle mechanism at the core of the game. If that doesn't appeal to you, then I would maybe look elsewhere. The story is interesting, but not so gripping for me that I'm playing for the story. No, I'm playing for the slide puzzles and the fun dice combat. I would love to see this slide puzzle mechanism in a medium-heavy euro game. Still, I think most people would have a great time with this. I might prefer it with two players, actually. But the solo works great. Great game IMHO but YMMV. :) Thanks for watching!
