Even though I'm not a Ty Gibbs fan for a 20 year old to lose his dad, is heart wrenching. I know how it affected me when I lost my dad , and I was in my 50s. Especially after winning the race in such a dominant way. His car was hooked up. He drove away from everyone. My thoughts, and prayers to the Gibbs family, and everyone arJGR!

My brother and I have been talking (we lost our dad at 46, 8 years ago now), we all have our time, and no one knows when it will be our time except God. I wonder if Coy's time was delayed just a little bit so that he could watch Ty win it all. I was cheering for Noah to catch him on Saturday, but looking back, that would have been even more heartbreaking, if Ty had just come up short and had his dad pass the next day. We can't pick our time, but if I could, watching my son win a NASCAR championship in my last day on earth sounds like a good way to spend it.
Prayers of course for the Gibbs family. Ty will get through this, but it's not going to be easy, and I think the whole NASCAR community is ready and willing to give him grace and support to get him through.

It's something we all go through though. Sure we can have sympathy because we will all go through what he is, but he shouldn't get a pass because he is going through something we all will go through as well.

So devastating. I can not imagine what the family is going through and I'm thankful that I've not had to deal with such a tragedy, it doesn't get any worse than a parent burying their child let alone all of them.
Joe is such an amazing human, but it seems like god puts those with the deepest conviction to the ultimate of tests in their faith.
God bless them and prayers to the family and friends. No one is untouched by this.
Thanks Kenny - I'd love to know if you had any interactions with Coy or what your memories might recall. I have to say, until that press conference last week, I haven't seen Coy in front of a mic. To me, he seemed to like being in the background? I just don't recall him in the camera much. But after that presser, and with his passing, I almost feel like we've been cheated out of getting to know him better than we did, certainly more than I did.
I'm a Gibbs fan for this reason, I'm a lifer Redskins fan. I grew up just a couple miles from the old practice facility near Dulles airport in Va. As kids, we would ride our bikes down to the Dulles industrial park where the Skins place was all the way in the back and the field was surrounded by woods. We would sneak into the woods and watch the practice through the fence. Have to remember, these guys were our heros, legends, hall of famers, yards away from us. They all knew we were there, they loved it and we would talk to them in the parking lot, if we could pick our jaws off the ground god they were huge when you're 12 and 13. This was early 80's with the "Hogs" and coach Gibbs. That is why I, and many others, hold Joe in such high regard. So naturally, in my other sporting love of NASCAR, when he came into the racing world, I've always been a Gibbs fan. Joe gibbs has always turned normal men into champions with everything he's touched. He's a special human being and he's here for a reason and he's accomplished so much for so many. That's what makes this so hard that for such a special person to have to endure so much, it begs the question of why? what are we to learn from this. it's means something more important. We struggle to understand this purpose.

I can’t imagine what Ty is going through he was so happy for winning then he is either told or something like that his dad has passed away. God must’ve known it was time. For Joe to lose J.D. in 2019 then lose his second son at the same age just is so heartbreaking and I remember seeing Bob Pockrass tweet about Ty not running the race which at first was like ok something is not right here either Coach Joe or someone back in Charlotte must be in serious trouble or injured then see Twitter blow up with things saying it’s Coy just broke me and my best friend and then to hear Marty Snyder on the pre race show tell us the news just broke my heart and I kept praying for Ty and Joe and I still believe in God but it made me hug the people I love a little tighter. I don't know the Gibbs family, but it seems that they forgot to discipline that boy. You can win every race Ty, and still be a lover. My condolences to the family.

I still wonder were the petty racing would be if Adam was alive. The same with Davey Allison. History would be different.

When God calls your number you go. Condolences to the whole Gibbs organization. Ty has a opportunity to prove that he does have what it takes by racing whatever car he can. Most of the time when behind the wheel the issues outside the car go away. 🍺
    Very well said Herman 👍

My grandparents buried both of their sons in 4 years. People have no idea what that does to an entire family.

I hate what he did but I hope he’s okay. That was a shitty way to wake up in the morning after a nite of celebrating! My heart goes out to the Gibbs family. We dont see eye to eye on stuff but they are family in this community and we should all support Ty in this time of his life like we did Dale jr!!
