The End of a (SUPERCHARGED) Era! // 2024 Jaguar F Type R REVIEW!

The 2024 Jaguar F Type R is not only the swan song for the long running Jaguar F Type, but it's also the end of the line for Jaguar sports cars in general -- and really internal combustion as a whole. On one hand, it seems fitting that the Jaguar F Type with its supercharged V8 engine should be the way the Jaguar sports cars drive off into the sunset, but on the other hand it also makes us wistful for the lunacy and joy such an epic powertrain provides. The 575 horsepower supercharged V8 dominated the Jaguar F Type experience, and even Megan found herself becoming addicted to the sound and fury of the F Type's engine -- despite not really being her cup of tea, pun intended. It's also impossible to have a Jag F Type convertible and not be reminded that it's one of the prettiest cars on the road, especially this green over tan version with the extended leather package that looks all things British. Does the Jaguar F Type R make sense on our channel?! Well, we'd argue that it kind of does since our kids are older, one can drive, the other is getting close, and we don't have the entire family hauling needs that we used to; however, there's no getting around the fact that the 2024 Jag F Type R is an indulgence, and at $120k as you see it in this video, there are some compelling alternatives -- particularly ones named LC 500, Mercedes SL, and Porsche 911. None of those options have the Jag's ostentatious engine, though, especially at that price, and none of them is as achingly pretty as the Jaguar F Type is (if you ignore the confoundingly crap infotainment system). Given the money and choice, we probably wouldn't have the Jaguar F Type R, but it certainly makes a great case for itself as it fades into history. We like EVs and don't often buy into the negativity people are always associating with the passionless powertrains, BUT... we will look back on cars like the 2024 Jaguar F Type R with a certain level of fondness and say things like, "remember when...." Thanks for the memories, Jaguar F Type. You'll be missed.

As a Californian I feel bad for your wife it’s 57 in Southern California. So sad to see that Jaguar is moving away from sedan and coupes

It is. We enjoy EVs but the push to them is premature and only going to damage brands like Jaguar that don't have the money and resources to get the shift wrong, which many brands already have.

Unless someone has the means to have both the convertible and coupe version of this car it is a crime to buy the convertible over the coupe. The coupe is THAT sexy. Just sayin’ ;-0 That classic beautiful shape, and the lines, get lost quite a bit with the convertible.
Also, the fact that the screen of the infotainment can’t be seen in high light…Wow, that is pretty bad. What an oversight for the convertible on the part of Jag, and surely not a real problem with the coupe. It is also a generation behind where it should be, but to say it is “garbage” is a little much. It gets it done (except when you can’t see it LOL), and the rest of the car is so good it is forgivable I think.
These cars are incredible, and these latest versions are reasonably reliable now too. A dream car for many.
You 2 are fun together. Keep it up!

I would agree. The F Type coupe is an all time beautiful design, and given the choice, I'd pick every day and twice on Sunday. And that probably would help with the legibility of the infotainment screen! Haha!
