I'm a muslim, culturally at least, but this is such an incredible song both its music and lyrics as well. Very relaxing and boosting the love of God. A masterpiece !
[Opening voice-over, as an adult] People do not give it credence that a young girl could leave home and go off in the wintertime to avenge her father's blood. But it did happen. I was just 14 years of age when a coward by the name of Tom Chaney shot my father down and robbed him of his life and his horse and two California gold pieces that he carried in his trouser band. Chaney was a hired man and Papa had taken him up to Fort Smith to help lead back a string of Mustang ponies he had bought. In town, Chaney had fallen to drink and cards and lost all his money. He got it into his head he was being cheated and went back to the boarding house for his Henry rifle. When Papa tried to intervene, Chaney shot him. Chaney fled. He could have walked his horse, for not a soul in that city could be bothered to give chase. No doubt Chaney fancied himself scot-free. But he was wrong. You must pay for everything in this world, one way and another. There is nothing free, except the grace of God.
I believe this is the most beautiful version of "Everlasting Arms" that exists today. It was used so effectively in the newest version of "True Grit". It added a sense of warmth and familiarity to the film and gave it some real depth.
Personally I don't like politics, mainly because too often most politicians cant stop arguing between themselves for power that should belong to the people in the first place.Being against, or worse, hating the countrymen of a particular country is plain stupid. Americans are as diverse as any other country if not the most diverse country in the world considering the variety of people living there. The history, culture and nature of the USA I have always admired.God bless your amazing country!
You know why people hate your country? Becouse of politicians. I dont like politicians, not yours not ours, but i love my country and i love America more and more. I hope i'll have opportunity to visit it one day for a litle longer and to get it know better. Stay good as you are, greetings. And beautiful song.
Whomever put this together, I want to thank you....My Father just passed away and I am completely heartbroken. I found this online with all the beautiful pictures and it always makes me cry. My father loved this hymn and we played it at his Funeral. He loved True Grit and I sent him the CD for his Birthday. Not knowing it was his last....THANK YOU...God Bless.
Everytime I hear this song , I'll always remember Jeff Bridges riding against the black starlit sky trying to save the life of Hailee Steinfeld on horseback as this song played!

Really? The Social Network beat out True Grit for Best Original Score? What. The. Hell. The Academy must be deaf as well as blind.

I totally agree, and it infuriates me. I'm not a "godless infidel" or an expansionist intent on destroying other people's beliefs.
@tfergus920 The film wasn't eligible for the Golden Globes because it was released too late. Shame, really.

“Time just gets away from us...”
Never doubt the Texas Ranger
I'm at a loss and I just want to lean His arms. My sister is battling with all she is through stage 4 cancer.
What an encouraging song. In tough times it’s nice to know that God is there and we can lean on him. Even when people fail us, the Lord never will.
I'm not religious..but the beauty of this song is truly amazing
Brings me to my knees w tears in my eyes. I love my Lord and savior and can't wait to see Him myself.
