😂 That’s not a bad idea! Though I’m trying not to accumulate too many more books this coming year! I guess I could pick to slimmer books off my unread shelf to take its place!
This is a great idea. Every January I write a list of books I want to read, but there are no repercussions if I don't. This way would keep me motivated and accountable.
Great goal!! I had a lot of fun with Delicious -- I hope you enjoy it. Upstream is also on my list to tackle in 2025. I also want to read David Copperfield inn 2025 (the only Dickens I've read is A Christmas Carol).
I also want to read David Copperfield. Maybe we could buddy read it if it works for both our schedules? I’m looking forward to both Upstream and Delicious as well. 😊
oh i like this idea, especially as my plans between xmas and NY is start logging all the books i haven’t read on my shelves which feels like an overwhelming task 😮😊
I have been logging all my owned books into Book Buddy since early November and I’m still not done! It is a project. I’m determined to get all my unread books logged before the end of the year though! I’m almost there? Good luck with your logging too. 😊
Oh I love this idea but not letting an app choose for me!!! Good luck with the Dickens, I have tried to read The Old Curiosity Shop several times… not sure I have it still. E Nesbit didn’t appeal to me as a child in the 1950s, my daughters and I tried again some time early 80s because I felt they “ought” to read them but we mutually agreed that they weren’t much fun….. bad mother 😂. I’m on a “no buy” reading year in 2025 influenced by you partly. I may make an exception for charity shop finds.
The Old Curiosity Shop is next up on my list of Dickens to read. I need to do something similar but I can't come up with quite the right format that works for me. Still pondering that!
I have created the shell for my 25 in 2025 already. But I haven’t chosen the books. I have been a member of Audible since 2010 (before Amazon bought them). I have plenty of books in this collection to easily chose 25 books to read or reject. Thank you for the idea!
I admire your goals and plans. I am so guided by my moods and whims that I tend not to make plans, but I do like continuing with a series or a particular author once I get started with the first one. I guess we all drawn to certain books for different reasons.
That is so very true! I try to make plans that I can fit into my mood reading as much as possible. That’s why I tried to get a variety of books on this list. Here’s hoping it works out! 😊
Thanks, Jen! I just added Love Begins in Winter to my list. As soon as I finished Sipsworth, I read his The Presence of Absence. It was a beautiful read, and his use of language exquisite in it. 💖
❤📚📚❤️ I hope you enjoy these older books off your shelves. I follow several classics influencers, I don't remember which one suggested The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens, but I immediately found a copy this year and got it since I loved Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens.
HUUUUUUUUGE AUDREY HEPBURN FAN HERE!!!!!!! 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼. PLEASE do a vid on her please please!!!! I think that one is the only book on her I’ve never read 😂😂😂
I still have that book of Dickens you have as well. Which will be my very first Dickens book. I hope to read it in 2025 as well. My plans for 2025 are; to read a bunch of books that i took out of a lfl, so they can go back in it again and i create some space. I want to try to challenge myself to first read 10 books that i can unhaul again, before i may go to a lfl again. Wish me luck haha. I am do the A to Z challenge, my own small bookbingo and 25 books in 2025 ( i may double up this challenge with the first two challenges). But most important.. have fun!!
I also have The Country House Murders and The Orchid House as I love books about what goes on inside a house. So I set these two books aside for 2025 as well! You have quite a good collection of books for 2025. I liked Agnes Grey; Anne Bronte was a talented writer. I have a bag of read books in my car to donate come springtime. Two books I want to read during the winter months are To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey and The White Lady by Jacqueline Winspear. I have many mysteries to read in between. I want to save the springtime, and summer reads for April through August. But I have many books I really want to read. Currently enjoying The Bear and The Nightingale by Katherine Arden (a wintertime read). 2024 was a good reading year and hoping to continue the reading streak in 2025.
Several of the books on your list sound fascinating--like Bookworms and a couple others. However, I've read only 2: Agnes Grey & The Old Curiosity Shop. Agnes Grey is very good and is probably my favorite Bronte after Jane Eyre. The Old Curiosity Shop is not Dickens' best, but is an early Dickens and a good place to continue your Dickens journey. Little Nell is a classic Dickens character, Dick the Swiveller is a great comic character and Quilp is a villain almost as bad as Bill Sykes in Oliver Twist.
I read a few by Josephine Tey this year, including The Man in the Queue. I would read it, not unhaul it. She’s a good writer, though her plot solutions are sometimes a little contrived. Some of her descriptions of Scottish scenery are great.
@@jensreadinglife I liked Lamott's first book or two; she seemed frank, open, honest. It came across as humility. Eventually I found her writing to be too self-centered, cloying, showing no signs of growing out of it. I heard her speak at a Faith and Writing conference years ago, and it was a real turn off. Growing older has changed a lot of my perspectives. I wonder if you are changing some of your responses to authors over time? That would be an interesting video.🙂
@@Homeward_Pilgrim actually, that is a great video idea! I will add it to my list. Maybe I'll go back and look at some of my favorite authors from many years ago and see what I think about them now.
I suggest starting with the chunkiest book. Then, if you decide to unhaul it, you’ve made space for not just one but TWO slimmer books.😁
😂 That’s not a bad idea! Though I’m trying not to accumulate too many more books this coming year! I guess I could pick to slimmer books off my unread shelf to take its place!
I love Georges Simenon's Maigret books. Christmas stories are fantastic.
That is so good to hear! I’ve read a few of the Christmas stories but none of the novels. I’m looking forward to finally reading one!
This is a great idea. Every January I write a list of books I want to read, but there are no repercussions if I don't. This way would keep me motivated and accountable.
Accountability definitely helps! 😁

Definitely take this idea and make it your own! I have a feeling the E. Nesbit may be an unhaul. And we will see how I get along with the Dickens! 😬
I'm in the process of doing a big unhaul! Very freeing!
Unhauls feel so good, don’t they? 😁
@jensreadinglife yes!!! I feel like I can focus on what I really want to read.
The Old Curiosity Shop is next up on my list of Dickens to read. I need to do something similar but I can't come up with quite the right format that works for me. Still pondering that!
I hope you are able to figure out a plan that works for you! If you’re up for buddy reading Dickens, let me know. 😊

He is a wonderful writer and I am really looking forward to this one. I agree completely about his use of language.
I read Zelda at the end of 2023 and really enjoyed it!
I’m so glad to hear that! The first chapter really drew me in.
i love audrey hepburn but done own any books or not sure i’ve read any so would love a video about that !
I will definitely be sharing my Audrey collection very soon! 😁
❤📚📚❤️
I hope you enjoy these older books off your shelves.
I follow several classics influencers, I don't remember which one suggested The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens, but I immediately found a copy this year and got it since I loved Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens.
Oh I’m glad to hear someone else recommended The Old Curiosity Shop! We will have to chat about it if we both read it this coming year. 😊
@jensreadinglife 🤗
I have 39 Virago Modern Classics in my collection. I have not read 28 of them. It’s time to read some more of them.
That should make for some fantastic reading! Virago publishes some wonderful books! Enjoy!

Sounds like a good idea...
I hope it is! 😁
Delicious is such a good book. ❤
I’m so glad to hear that! It sounds wonderful!

English Country House Murders...I NEED this one! LoL
You do! 😁 I’m really looking forward to it!
It does look Delish.
P.S. I have Upstream by Mary Oliver and really enjoy the essays.
That is great to hear!
I haven’t read The Old Curiosity Shop, but I so highly recommend David Copperfield. I would switch it!
I’m a real Dickens fan, though.
I just purchased David Copperfield a couple of months ago so it doesn’t fit into my 25 in 25 but it is high on my list of Dickens to read!
I read a few by Josephine Tey this year, including The Man in the Queue. I would read it, not unhaul it. She’s a good writer, though her plot solutions are sometimes a little contrived. Some of her descriptions of Scottish scenery are great.
I would unhaul Anne Lamott; you love her or you don’t. 😊
I enjoyed Miss Pym Disposes so I’m looking forward to more Josephine Tey.
And I am an Anne Lamott fan so I’ll hang onto that one. 😉
