Love this piece! The first movement is also great. It's definitely better as a simple quartet though; the full chamber orchestra is muddying it a bit.
Beauuuuuutiful!!
Borodin dedicated this quartet to his wife. Especially this movement, that music were the memories about their first acquaintance and meetings in Europe.
In this quartet, the first violin represents his wife, and the cello (which was his main instrument) represents himself.
@@andrewhcit That's right. By the way, he can play flute and cello quite well.
Used in the musical Kismet "This is my beloved" - beautiful piece
Borodin
Many more luscious melodies from Borodin to come...
This was my introduction to Borodin -- thank you, GIDI!
Waiting for Beethoven's 4th symphony by Karajan DG 1963 recording
More gratitude, my buddy, Gidi...
Much love Jim ❤️
This melody was the basis for a famous song in the 40's, I believe. "This is my beloved" or something,
The song was featured in the musical "Kismet" which employed Borodin's music throughout.
Good choice, never heard this before.
Hi GIDI! I think you should listen to Prokofiev's 5th piano concerto played by Yuja Wang! I personally love the piece and hopefully you will too!
You should react to Shostakovich Symphony 10
