"I WANT YOU TO CRUSH THAT CARD! (how expensive are they...?)" I think you can afford to replace them, Brian "I have an internet magic shop" Brushwood (;
I really love how enthusiastic Brian is about getting fooled -- like, "Dammit, I'm so angry that you are amazing!" It really helps him be relatable to those of us whom HE amazes.
I have seen so many handlings of this effect, and I like this one the best, granted they are all very similar, but the getting into it and the simplicity of this handling is very enjoyable.
Nice use of a card plot- I'd add that always handle cards as casually as possible (no fancy shuffles at all) when doing mentalism), the idea of handing out groups of cards for different spectators to shuffle would be a lovely "hands off" mix. If doing magicican's choice it's good to ask the volunteer to pick up a card- you then direct it appropriately. This would make a great "psychological influence" plot. It could also be used in a "dead and alive" bizarre plot with pictures of people with the words below.
I have no doubt that is true. Also: I am certain I have recorded no fewer than 3,000 episodes of content since that episode. That is not an exaggeration.
I feel the initial story could be improved. Something like this: "We're going to do a mind reading trick and think of a card", card trick ensues, then at the reveal, "What card were YOU thinking of?" If you nail it job done, if not "At the beginning I said we are going to do a mind reading trick, but I didn't say who was going to do the reading. I was thinking of the [says card]", turn them over and boom.
I use the same routine at birthdays with eight envelopes. 4 with money in 4 with no money… which by the end i show that they had a lot more money in. Or what ever story that fits the premise.
3:44 Argh, it's the same as many other card tricks. He keeps a block of identical cards on the bottom to trick-deal them to you, then when you "free choice" pick a suit/symbol, if it matches what you said, he can say "ha! there, I dealt you all of the same symbol you said", and if it doesn't match, he can say "ha! tehre,I dealt you you all the same card, NONE of which are the one you said". It's like when you say "you picked 5, so we'll deal 5 cards and the 5th card is your card" or "you picked 5, so we'll discard 5 cards and the next card is your card", it's binary (is or isn't), and you can make it work either way by just flipping your answer. Once you see this done numerous times in different ways, it becomes obvious (and also less amusing 😕). 5:35 Even better; getting lucky with bits like this where it actually doesn't make a difference, you can add some extra "choice" since it doesn't matter, and you can even mix in some extra flair to make it seem like it's _really_ "random" by for example, having them flip a coin into the audience and passing it around a bit and so on to make it like the magician has ZERO control over that part. This makes people really confounded because even if they can explain some parts of the trick, they get stuck trying to explain this extravagant part, not realizing the answer simple: it didn't matter, it's idempotent, like adding zero or multiplying by 1. 😉 6:06 Is the "Texas sharpshooter fallacy" the official (or at least de-facto) term for this concept in magic? As I said, I've seen it many times, so it would be useful if there were a consensus on a term to use for it. (For the record, I'm not sure that term really applies, Texas-sharpshooter isn't really the same as what's happening here, in the former case, they're modifying the target post-hoc, in the latter case, they're pre-planning a catch-all answer, they're similar but different.)
Haaaa, haaaa. BRIAN. you are a funny guy. L.m a.o. Hey buddy i was worried, coz when you got fooled, You were having a stroke. But by the end of the video, your color was coming back. Have a glass of whiskey, my friend. Take care. Glen Hey Josie. 👋
Pure coincidence. It wasn't part of the trick at all. Brian could have chosen any four cards, which may or may not contain any specific symbol. His choice of symbol is a fake one, too. If he chose "waves", the trick would have looked even better. Since he didn't, the cop out was that the magician "chose" waves and Brian was the one actually mind reading.
@@charliejoseph6465 By pure chance. It was a coincidence, nothing more. A lucky break that made the trick seem better. It cannot reliably be done with the methods shown!
"Have you ever been electrocuted?"
"Yeah, I almost died."
(Awkward silence intensifies)
Even better Jake and David just go on chatting as Brian locks up.
I like the part where Brian is trying to make a Ghostbusters joke and Jake is like "yeah, I almost died."
lol
🤣🤣🤣
I love how flustered Brian is at the plus not showing up when it's another "when Life hands you a bar of gold, you say 'Thank you very much.'"

I was watching the whole time for double and bottom deals, but he didn't do any because the trick JUST WORKS!!!! Dang it man, ya got me!
Im an OG fan, I remember this method/trick, David himself taught it on the channel before! in an old video... I guess Brian just forgot it x.x

I use that method of selection for a bank night routine with 8 envelopes. I love this application of it
0:50 - Brian is supposed to lay out 4 cards, but lays out 5.
"I don't like feeling fooled" Ah, how the tables have turned.
This one simple trick will *fool anyone!* _MAGICIANS HATE HIM!_
6:36, Brian: You ever been electrocuted?
Guest: Why, yes, I...
Brian: Bah, don't tell me about it, pick a card pal!! :) :) :)
We've actually seen this trick before or at least something similar, but still awesome
yep, David himself taught it on the channel, lets gooo scam school fanclub XD
300th Episode! (Oh. And a RAD Card Trick) was the title of the episode. just with a different twist
This is similar to a card effect used by Penn and Teller, where Teller is gambling away the rights to their performance space in Vegas.

100% sure this has been covered, except back then it was with all aces on brian's side. Was waaaay back
That was exectly what I was thinking.. Im was like "how does Brian not know this?", since I learned that from him with the 4 aces :D
I have no doubt that is true. Also: I am certain I have recorded no fewer than 3,000 episodes of content since that episode. That is not an exaggeration.
@@scamschool fair enough sir. Fair enough 👏🏻
I like David’s Martin and Lewis shirt.
Thanks!
Awesome one Brian!! I recently picked up a pack of the ESP cards specifically for the Ghostbusters trick!
This is another one to add to the arsenal 👍🏼
Is that the Spanish Shin Lim on the left?
Man Bryan looks so weird without his super spikey cactus hair
Awesome trick!
Now can you explain how to DEW the magical fire trick they did in Maui?
such a brilliant effect fooling Brian with a trick i have seen him perform on scam school with a poker hand effect :)

Didn't realize it before it happened, but once it did, it's very apparent. This channel needs more Josie.
"crush like an angry salary man"
Is this a card crusher reference in 2022?
It totally was. Nice catch!

That's an old meme!

This reminds me of Bannon's (or is it David Solomon's?) "Power of Poker".
On the same principle, john bannon does it with 8 envelopes (4 empty and 4 with money)
Good trick but I feel like using regular cards would be better. Maybe have 2 decks and force let’s say a 7 and have 4 other 7s ready in the other deck

Hey Josie. 👋
Brian says 4? As he lays down 5
too many weird moves----you could just have them select any 4 cards from a large pile and your prediction would 100%
The same magician showed the same trick to Brian already in a previous video with four aces.
That tracks. I've definitely done thousands of videos since then, and wouldn't at all be surprised that I forgot this principle.
Can’t believe I won this give away. My first one ever 😅
A card trick with some actual psychic mind reading, akward as that moment was.

John Bannon poker
Jesus 💚
BUT WHAT WAS THE THROW AWAY CARD?
Definitely a circle. You can tell because it was a free choice, not a magician's choice.
Ah, the good old a-hole subtlety
Josie would have gotten it lol
Spotted it but this is great!
I loath card tricks with esp cards
But how did he get Brian to say the cross?
Pure coincidence. It wasn't part of the trick at all. Brian could have chosen any four cards, which may or may not contain any specific symbol. His choice of symbol is a fake one, too. @@holgerchristiansen4003 But I want to do the magic trick where their card isn't there at all.
