Oh man look at the Capri Ricky on the wall , that finish !...I must get this book , Ive been in love with Rickenbacker guitars for about 25 years or so , I was able to buy one myself ( a six string 360 in Jetglo )which I LOVE ! ...Rickenbackers sound like no other guitar Ive heard , they are beautiful sculptures that make invisible sculptures in the air...Ive been lusting after a Rick Bass & a Rick 381-12 string ! Thank You for the video !
For a brief moment in time, Rickenbacker Heaven appeared in London. These are not just musical instruments, they are works of art! You can see the sound of a Rickenbacker and hear the look of it. Every guitar player must own a Rickenbacker at least once in their lifetime. Otherwise, they cannot truly call themselves a guitar player. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
@@MichaelWatts I had seen an ad for the Rick exhibit and was disappointed it was in London, but will be buying the book asap.I plan to take a trip to see the holy grail of Ricks which is John Lennons 325 1958 capri someday. I heard it is in Kyoto Japan. I just saw his 1964 at the Rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland Ohio this last weekend. It sent an electric jolt down my spine. It still had the set list on it.
"And you're a guitar expert are you?" To which your reply should have been: "Look here my good fellow, don't you realise who I am?" The magic sound of McGuinn's riff at the beginning of Eight Miles High (inspired by Coltrane) .......... Thanks, just seeing them all there was a delight.
@@MichaelWatts I keep sharing your videos with my students, there is music so they enjoy them and they also get to hear English in authentic situations 🎶🎶🎶👍🏻

You'd like to think at least some of these beautiful guitars still have a real life in the hands of players making music. They remind me of caged song birds when you see them in this context. Interesting stuff though.
@MichaelWatts yea the frying pan is rare for sure. It may be the rarest it'd be nice to know production numbers though the years. I have a december built 58 360 capri in autumn glow
Another great video, but I have to say: Pete Townshend comes across creepier than expected. At 1:40, clearly evaluating your cologne. BACK OFF, CHISWICK.
I hope you enjoy this video featuring some utterly wonderful vintage Rickenbacker guitars at Shapero Rare Books in London!

The old Ric's are so cool. Beautiful and playable guitars.

It did! And it was very nice too
I went to John Hall's presentation on a Saturday in mid-March. Probably the biggest highlight of the year. Unforgettable
Jangletastic - great video - thanks Michael!
Thank you for watching Keith!
Thanks for sharing. I am obsessed with Rickenbackers, having owned a 330, 325 Capri and actually made a 4003 during covid.
You sound like you need this book!

The Beatles loved gluing set lists onto guitars! I remember visiting the Cleveland museum and feeling a similar jolt.
I have that book. It's quite good.
Thanks. Now I miss my 370.
Oh no! Maybe to time to find another.

Ha ha ha! Don’t you know who I think I am? Thank you for watching!
Bravo! 8 Miles High..
My Rickenbacker connection is Chris Squire's bass.

Ah I’m sorry - you would love the book though and I think there may be a few copies left
Beautifully edited Michael. A fine presentation on these lovely guitars.
Thank you George!
@@MichaelWatts Micheal, I think film making (maybe documentary style) is your second calling. You have a knack for it. Keep up the great work.
Looking forward to the book!
You can get it online now!

Great guitars on hand but where are the fabulous basses.Give some LUV to the 4001's.They are iconic supersonic bass guitars
That’s very true, they were there, I took pics and they’ll be on my Instagram soon!

I know what you mean Kees but rest assured, the guitars see regular use on stage and in the studio! Thank you very much for watching
It's just wood and wires. The guitars don't care if they're played or not.
Hahaha Jangle Unchained
😁
What is that song you play at 2:30? It’s beautiful
I've always loved Rickies! Sadly though they've always been just out of my reach budget wise.
I love the look, and the sound, I could even get used to the feel!
This video has Monty Python written all over it.
So whats the rarest rick
Maybe the Frying Pan itself? Not sure… any suggestions?
