- I flew from Seoul Incheon to Kuala Lumpur with Air Asia X to try out their NEW Business class seat. Air Asia X is an ultra low-cost carrier but surprisingly the new Business Class cabin features the 1-2-1 configuration and 180-degree flat-bed seats. This is a massive improvement over Air Asia X’s previous inflight product. I think Air Asia X added this plane to its fleet has quite interesting implications in terms of the passenger experience.

에어아시아X A330의 새로운 비즈니스클래스 좌석을 타고 서울에서 쿠알라룸푸르까지 6시간 30분을 비행했습니다. 놀랍게도, 저비용항공사인 에어아시아X의 새로운 비즈니스석은 모든 좌석에서 복도 출입이 자유로운 1-2-1좌석 배열입니다. 좌석은 180도로 완전히 눕혀져서 4시간 동안 잠도 푹 잘 수 있었네요. 저비용항공사인 에어아시아에서 이런 훌륭한 좌석을 경험할 수 있다는 것이 놀라웠습니다.

I always love the departure from Incheon. With these aircraft acquired from other airlines, it will become the luck of the draw for business class seating between the old and new ones. On their departing midnight routes they should try to use the new business class aircraft as I think passengers will appreciate it.

AirAsia's Nasi Lemak was surprisingly good back then prior to pandemic, I was a fan. Maybe they changed their catering/food supplier after pandemic, so that's why the food is not that good as before. Tried the food last year too, and it was same just like you mentioned, it's too dry and quite tasteless.

I’ve also tried Nasi Lemak on some flights such as Singapore Airlines. So although I’m not a Malaysian so I don’t really know Nasi Lemak much more than Malaysian, but I think I can tell the Nasi Lemak on my Air Asia X flight was not good.😊

This reminds me a lot of Philippines airlines A350 business class seats. I didn't know Air Asia X had new seats, awesome competition for traditional carriers though.

When you booked the ticket, did Air Asia's website show seatmap with 1-2-1 configuration or showed the original 2-2-2 seatmap? I'm wondering if I might get the same pleasant surprise on my upcoming Air Asia X NRT-BKK flight next month! Hahaha
it showed the new layout , i will have an upcoming flight with AAX and the seating map change to a new one , meaning they use the new aircraft
Thank you for watching. When I booked my ticket on the Air Asia's website, I could see the new cabin layout on the seatmap. If the 2-2-2 layout is the old cabin, the 1-2-1 layout is the new cabin. Hope you can fly with the new cabin on your upcoming Air Asia X flight.😊

i was just in AirAsia premium flat bed, same as video, that aircrafts are old Philippines air that air Asia has purchased, they still have Philippines air on screen near kitchens.

안녕하세요, 송현수님. 영상 봐주시고 댓글 남겨주셔서 감사합니다. 현재 해당 좌석을 확인하는 방법은, 좌석 지정 시 좌석배치도(seat map)를 확인하는 것입니다. 좌석 배치도가 2-2-2인 경우 구기재이고, 1-2-1인 경우 신기재입니다. 다만, 불가피한 이유로 사전 예고 없이 항공기는 언제든지 바뀌는 경우가 있기 때문에, 운도 필요한 것 같습니다😢
보통 LCC들이 이전 항공사가 쓰던걸 그대로 쓰던데 로고까지 쓸줄이야ㅎㅎ 그나저나 맥주 당황스럽네요... 😂 항상 잘보고있습니당!😊

No wonder why the business class seat looks familiar! It was the former A330 of PAL! I love how they didn't change the seats, this will help improve their seat comfortability rating!

When Philippine Airlines declared bankruptcy protection, they sold many of their planes. Air Asia was one of the big buyers.

영상 봐주시고 댓글 남겨주셔서 감사합니다👍 에어아시아 A330 일부 기체에만 이 좌석이 장착되어 있다보니, 상당히 운이 필요한 것 같습니다. 인천 노선 역시 항상 이 기체가 투입되는 게 아니어서, 비행편에 따라 2-2-2 좌석 배열의 오래된 비즈니스석이 투입되기도 합니다. 저도 혹시 구기재로 바뀔까봐 탑승 날 전까지 확신을 할 수 없었네요😢
I guess AAX didn't bother to change the interior to denser configuration when they bought the plane from PAL, so passengers get to experience comfier seating for ultra low fare.

Thank you. Yes, meal and water bottle are included in Air Asia's Business class ticket.
Basically, it was still in 309 seats. It retained 18 lie flat business class, 24 7-abreast premium economy and 267 8-abreast economy.

sure you don't get the fancy food and drinks and flat bed.
but you have godo space, almost flat, and that's more than enough. better than premium economy for the same price.

Lucky you, Jangsu. Great you have a nice flight with AirAsia. I dare not fly AirAsia because it is notorious for being a "who cares" airlines. Did you pre-book your meal or make the order aboard ? Scoots serves those passengers first who have pre-ordered their meals before their flights. Peach is the best LCC I have flown so far. You might want to try next time.

How can I select the flight with this seat? I guess this kind of aircraft operates from KL. Do they fly to Aus?
AAX does operate one of the plane for KL-Melbourne service. If you happen to see 2-4-2 config on the economy class when choosing your seat, that's the plane. For a small fee, you can snap up the premium economy seat.
Only on Air Asia where you wanted 1 beer and they tried to give you 3. 😂😂😂

필리핀항공한테 인수받고 모니터를 없앤다거나 다른 개조 없이 그대로 사용해서 쓰는군요. 이렇게 되면 모니터도 없고 침구류도 유료로 파는 zipair는 어떻게 하련지 궁금하군요 ㅎ. 혹시 이코노미도 2-4-2 배열 그대로인가요? 원래 에어아시아 A330 이코노미 통상 배열은 지옥의 3-3-3이라서요 ㅎ

330이라서 이코도 그닥 나쁘지 않습니다^^

Thank you once again for a terrific review & sharing. It is most unfortunate to hear that the Nasi Lemak didn't taste good. What a shame. Also, while the crew seemed friendly, I personally do not like the way she kept trying to hard sell and stoke you to buy the 3-can combo. Come on, this wasn't a long-haul flight. Furthermore, it's a red-eye flight. 3 cans would be really too much. Service attitude wise, there's really a clear difference between LCC and FSC. 😎🙏

What I hope most from AirAsia X is to create 'premium economy' using 2-4-2 configuration in their A330 fleetwide like full service airlines A330... maybe their cheapest economy still maintain 3-3-3 for more choices to passengers
So technically, this wonderful interior is because of PAL! Airasia did not even bother to change PAL's logo on the monitor. 😅 C'mon airasia. Had it not been for the pandemic, PAL would still have this plane in their roster. Shame. Such a wonderful product in this A330.
