    Only watch the video today so my comments are 7 months late. Anyway it's wonderful to hear someone in UA-cam talk about Nikon Wonder Picture Control, it works, it's easy and gives excellent results but, no one talks about it and, everyone talks about Fuji recepies, like if everyone is making a copy paste from each other. Thanks a lot for this information.

    Good information here Frederik! I bought a D700 in June and I just recently sent it back to replace internal battery that maintains time and date (under warranty) so I don't currently have my D700. I loaded some black and white profiles in my D7200 and will be trying them later on today. Thank you! :)

    Hi Frederik, another great video, thank you!
    I often use picture controls with raw, however - to your point - non-Nikon software ignores picture controls. But I use CaptureNX2 (+ColorEfex3 plugin for filters) - and these picture controls are all there. Super helpful.
    Cheers from Canada!

      Hi, it is important that you create a sub folder in the SD card named exact like what I show in the video. Same name. Capital letters. And that you store the profile files in that folder. Otherwise the camera cannot see the files. Hope this helps 🙏🏻

    Another great video! Yesterday I bought a d700 so I am "studying" all your videos... 😅. I take a lot B&W photos. Is it posible to customize one of the front buttons for a specific Profile Picture (like a Kodak T 400)? or another way to easly change from profile to another?

    • @frederikboving
      @frederikboving  Рік тому +1

      Hi! What I have done is to get access to the "my menu" via the function buttons, and then in my menu I put the top priority items on top of the list, and in this case the picture profile. I must admit that I have not tried this for the picture profiles as such (I tend to stay in the same profile for a long time) but I would imagine that it works. Hope this helps! All the best!

    The D700 gets praise for its color but if you’re able to import different color profiles won’t any decent camera do? Also my computer doesn’t recognize my camera when connected, do I have to use a card reader?

    • @frederikboving
      @frederikboving  6 місяців тому +1

      Not sure why your computer won't recognize the camera - it should work as far as I know. Try switching the camera off and on again to see if that makes a difference. I use a card reader but that is because it is faster to load the images that way.
      Color rendering is very much subjective and hence in personal preference territory and hence your question is difficult to answer - there are probably as many options as there are photographers...

    • @maeu59
      @maeu59 6 місяців тому

      @@frederikboving I googled the connection issue and it turns out that Nikon removed the mass storage option from the menu which allowed direct connection from camera to computer. It has to be done with a card reader. Have you tried yours?

    • @frederikboving
      @frederikboving  6 місяців тому +1

      Some memory cards have a little switch to block the card from being written to. You can also try to export a profile from the camera to the card - that should create the needed folders.

      @@iansean324 Got it. On the Nikon D4 there is standard, neutral, vivid, monochrome, portrait and landscape, so I guess the specific number of picture control options varies from camera model to camera model.

  • @k8tv546
    @k8tv546 Рік тому +1

    I was crazy about picture control, then i relise i shot raw only ,so picture control only affect in jpg, or in the monitor of camera. So only picture u should care is flat. Cause that what u want to check on minitor, raw dont take any picture control, at least to LR and pts. Sharpness u could turn on to 3 , cause in LR default sharpness is 4

    • @bfs5113
      @bfs5113 Рік тому

      I haven't tried it myself but Nikon NX studio is supposedly able to apply picture control to raw, thus export it to TIFF afterward if one wish to processing it further in PS or LR.

    • @frederikboving
      @frederikboving  Рік тому

      Yes, you need the Nikon ND-X software to do the editing on RAW files with Picture Control applied.
