I recently got the D700 because I wanted to get into FF at an affordable price and also because of the rave reviews, but I’m starting to wonder if I made the right decision. I also have a mirrorless Z50 which has so many advantages due to the newer tech. The D700 is a dinosaur as far as tech goes, yes the colors are unmatched but with my recent discovery of Nikon picture controls you can get get all different types of presets, so you can pretty much use any decent camera. Just this example here of live view is a perfect example of old tech. Plus the size of this camera, its a brick and not the most portable. I’ve only had it a couple of weeks so maybe I’m jumping the gun but over the last few years I’ve gotten accustomed to the mirrorless system and finding it hard to go backwards. Don’t get me wrong I do like the D700 for what it is and that’s strictly a picture taking camera, I have no need for video, truthfully I don’t even use my Z50 for video my IPhone 15 pro is much easier and does a great job. Bottom line I’m not a 2 camera guy, and would love to trade it all in for the Z6II which felt great in my hands the other day……we’ll see.
@maeu59 Hi, yes the D700 is defiantly a brick, but was once to be considered to be one of the best cameras Nikon has ever made due to its sensor and durability. It was the go to for wedding photographers and studio photography. That being said, yes it does have a sensor that is only 12 megapixels, but just because its only 12mp doesn't mean it can't give you a photo with more artistic characteristics that closer resemble the film era more than some cameras today. The Z50 is also a fantastic camera and will provide you the color, crisp edges and HD quality images because of its high res sensor. But from my experience sometimes things can be over sharp in some cases, and having a 12mp sensor to give me just the exact resolution that I need is perfect. I feel that every camera was made differently and each sensor has a different way of projecting an image digitally, and yes you can have picture control settings which yes do make a wonder of difference in your camera. The difference is, when Nikon made the D700 it put a particular sensor that was only made for the D700 and that's why so many photographers still praise it even till this day because it is so special. New tech is amazing I totally agree but it can take the photography out of photography. Meaning cameras are to easy to get a photograph with these days compared to when we had to work a little harder to get a photo, and it wasn't always a bad thing. So that's just how I feel. I hope you enjoy your camera and please let me know if you have any questions about it. Thank you for the great comment and for watching my video! Kris
Thanks for the reply…I can’t argue with anything that you’ve said, all good points, I’ve pretty much decided to be a two camera guy, I think I might regret selling the d700 and will definitely be keeping it.
@AnwarAlwinato Hi, sorry for the late response. To answer your question unfortunately due to the D5600 being so limited it is not able to have the aperture switched while using LV mode. There might be a work around this though. I have the D7000 and have this same issue. I cannot switch the aperture while in LV mode. So what I do is I switch it back to viewfinder mode and switch the aperture there to what I want and then I switch it back to LV mode and the aperture is set to what I switched it to while in viewfinder mode. See if this works. I hope this helps. Hope your having a safe, happy holiday season. Kris

I am willing to make the sacrifice and accept all the lenses you were using on that D700 brick.
How to change aperture when we use live view... I am user Nikom D5600
