Considering this poor old cabinet and machine was destined for the landfill, you did a wonderful job of bringing it back to life using what you had on hand. So what if it was painted non standard colors. It all works for me. Good job & thanks for sharing.
Restoration is like an art, it takes time and patience, the person must be relaxed, almost inspired to produce something genuinely beautiful; you're in a rush, you're not investing time in the small details to restore this beautiful old machine; the result is - it could have been a lot better-
I am a lover of vintage cast iron machines like this and more ornate ones, here in US its easy to find brands such as singer, The Free, Domestic, wilcox and gibbs, edlderige, white, New Home that are great pieces to bring to life! I use the cast iron legs to make a table, the flip out cover is a great candidate as a table top! Stripping paint off the cast iron legs is HARD! I do it and leave the legs unpainted, either use bees wax, oil, grease or linseed oil to apply a coat over the rustic shiny legs, it just looks way better in my opinion than covering it with paint and hiding the beautiful smooth cast iron.

My Mother had a singer sewing machine just like that I wish I still had it when my mother was alive she taught me how to use that machine that's why I wish I still had it but when my mom passed away my sister's sold everything including the Singer sewing machine I even had a couple of her electric ones she taught me how to use them too she basically taught me how to show and cook.

Obviously part 1of a 2 part restoration, would have liked to see them save the wood stain rather than painting it as they did. Let's see what part 2 does to this redo.
Agree te brown paint is the worse shade of brown I have ever seen. I don't like the mishmash of green and white.metal. I would have kept the metal parts all black, maybe with gold lettering.

You have done a very good job at restoring this however you should have painted the frame matt black and kept the wood natural.

@@restoration-restore-repair I like that you are restoring these old machines. I would just keep it simple on the decoration. Less is more so maybe use one colour all over and maybe small accent colours for lettering or special parts so they stand out more. Your restorations are very good it is just the cosmetics which throw a spanner in the work.
I could live with the green and black and maybe even the white, but the brown is just awful! Thank you for rescuing that beauty anyways!

Nasreen Azam, I have one made in 1906, it has a full cabinet but otherwise is the same the tqbletop and all mechanisms are identical. It worked but had an electric motor installed around the time yours was made, so I do not use it, the electrics do not come up to todays standards, I am due to have it de-electrified and serviced, it will look and be splendid when it is finished. Did you know you can date such machines by the design on that actual machine body? I also learned to sew on one identical to this that belonged to my mum-in-law. The knew how to build things in those days, it was expected to last a lifetime or more.

I also think that the wooden parts should have been made recognizable as wood. Maybe just sand and glaze to reveal the grain. Old sewing machines work, privately, not as subcontractors, as well as new ones. Aside from the joy of restoring, it's worth keeping old machines. I sew all my jeans on a 60 year old Dürkopp 420 from 1960. I want to see some current product - iphone or toaster - that will work in 60 years.

Sorry Panowie, ale po renowacji to wygląda jak tani wydruk 3D, albo zestaw do złożenia z Ikea. Łączycie stare i nowe śruby w jednym urządzeniu, jak to wygląda? Na stopkach maszyn do szycia często jest motyw firmowy - nigdy nawet fabrycznie nie był malowany bo się wyciera podczas pracy - wiedzieli o tym już w latach 50-tych. No i pytanie: Czy śrubka podczas wkręcania wydziela jakieś szkodliwe pyły, że trzeba nosić maskę ?
