- When Henry VII defeated King Richard III on the battlefield during the Battle of Bosworth Field, he dreamed of a dynasty on the throne that would last for centuries. But within 125 years of the end of the wars of the Roses, the Tudor dynasty would come to a whimpering end as the death of the brilliant Elizabeth I took place and break the hearts of the nation. Inside the Tudor family was the notorious King Henry VIII who had 6 wives and two of these he had executed inside of the walls of the Tower of London. But also there was Mary I, who was also known as Bloody Mary. It was a time period that changed England forever, but because of the intrigue around the Tudor monarchs many of the most prominent Tudors were dug up following their deaths, or they had their burial vaults disturbed a number of times. In this documentary we will look at the different times that the Tudor monarchs had their burial vaults or coffins broken into, and what these people would find would be incredibly shocking and at times harrowing. This is opening the coffins of the Tudor Kings and Queens.
Its almost perfect fate and Murphy law that Henry never got the son he needed. Karma.
Death is, indeed, the great equalizer.
Ukraine is a Nazi country. You support Nazis.
Mary I burned one of my ancestors at the stake for heresy , I think it was far more personal than just heresy due to the fact he helped dethrone her mother whom he thought a lot of . He was Thomas Cranmer Archbishop of Canterbury .
WOW
Thomas cramner was a heretic and an enemy of the state. A traitor who tried to overthrow queen Mary.
Great compilation. I've mixed feelings on Tudor Kings & Queens. They built to improve, won battles, prevented invasions but also destroyed much, and battled their own people in what today would be called tyrannical. Yet no matter my opinion of their lives, no one after death deserves to have their mortal remains & grave poorly treated or desecrated.
Macabre and fascinating. Interesting how in some ways, the royals had been shabbily handled postmortem.
None however, as poorly as Queen Katherine Parr.
I agree Catherine was treated so badly
Absolutely! She was the one that saved Elizabeth 1st. From Futher Raping an Molestation of her Pedofile second Husband , Thomas Seymour ! Too bad Elizabeth couldn't order his "Off with his Head "..... Poor Elizabeth, I'll bet one of the many reasons She never married ! So God Bless Katherine Parr for Sending Elizabeth away from ole Sick 👿 !! Stoke those Fires Thomas ! RIP KATHERINE! ❤
Great history! Thank you
Considering the ridiculously vast fortunes of the Windsors, you’d think they would restore the coffins and resting places of the monarchs that preceded them. Show some respect.
@veronicacougar5687 no love that would be a waste of their hard earned money 😂😅😂
Show some respect with your own money. You sound generous with other people’s money…..use all of yours
Henry VII left his kingdom to his son Arthur. I’m American and know that. Care to compare our intelligence with yours?
@@debbylou5729arthur died before Henry vii died. That's why Henry viii married Catherine of Aragon his brother authurs widow.
@@emmadixon2482 he didn’t have to marry anyone. He was the heir
I've been looking all over the Internet for info on this subject!! Couldn't find much thank you !!
Thank you ❤. This video was educational.
Would be interesting to see him as he is now! After all, we see the ancient pharoahs and give them our respect. At least i did when i was in egypt. So why not with the english monarchs? Personally, i would love to go visit queen katherine of aragon at her resting place and leave her a gift and a curtsy!
Here you Go , za Picture of What they look like , skull 💀 skull 💀 All bones Now ! I'm sure Hobein ( monarch portrait painter) painted them as well as they could of ! Not real attractive ! At all ! And IDK whoever quoted Henry the V111 was a Handsome an Dashing Looking Man , 😜 Must of had Low Standard of PHYCIAL Beauty ! The ole Tyrant Narcissist was Not that at All ! But in fear of The Axe could persuade many people 😢
I have a theory as to why Elizabeth I chose James VI/I , son of Mary Queen of Scots to succeed her. I have three points: 1.) The most obvious is he was her second cousin and by blood eligible to succeed her. 2.) I suspect that Elizabeth had some guilt regarding Mary's execution. I often wondered why they did not come to some sort of compromise, become allies against any who would seek to de-throne them and enjoy the ability to co-rule, Mary over Scotland and Elizabeth over England. I understood that as children they were fond of each other. I find it hard to believe that their affection for each other dissolved so quickly in adulthood. 3.) and this is one of the most telling. When Elizabeth's father, King Henry VIII died, in his will he requested that a Seymour, (possibly Jane's Brother?) succeed either Mary or Elizabeth, whoever died last. I think Elizabeth held some resentment towards her father for his treatment of his wives, in particular her mother, Anne, who he executed on trumped up charges. I believe, as a final flip of the bird, Elizabeth made James king instead. Elizabeth, in some ways killed two birds with one stone She made amends to her cousin Mary and avenged her mother's wrongful execution by her father with one scratch of the quill. This is just a theory, mind you, but I think it is worth considering.
Yeah, Henry VIII hated the Stuarts..
I enjoyed your book.
@@inventorylady53 Say what???
They say that she was tricked into signing Mary’s execution. That she never wanted to sign it.. I guess that’s speculative though.
@@jesmichel I read somewhere that she was coerced by her "advisers." They convinced her that Mary was a threat to the crown. She was torn. She didn't really want to do it, that's why I think Mary was imprisoned for so long before she was executed. I think Elizabeth was waiting till she could safely release her, but her advisers powers of persuasion were more than she could stand. I think she felt more threatened by them than Mary, quite frankly so she did it against her better judgement and regretted it till the day she died. I don't claim to actually know her mind, but the power of the nobility was quite strong back then and had an almost tyrannical influence over the monarchy even though it wasn't quite as evident to the subjects.
I heard the coffin of Henry the VIII was being taken to St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. On the way Henry exploded in his coffin and his juices leaked out and onto the ground with the dogs licking it up. The sarcophagus intended for Henry the VIII was instead used for Lord Nelson and is St Paul's Cathedral.
there were three hundred years between henry the eighth and nelson so doesnt seem very likely
@@noreenen2347 It's true.
Henry VIII needed a male heir. The risk to the kingdom without one was absolutely enormous after the years of civil war known as the War of the Roses. No woman had ever been a ruling monarch. The chance of a female sovereign dying in childbirth was far too high. As it turned out the Tudor family died out after the last two female monarchs. Neither had children.
Trust me,
There were PLENTY of heirs to the throne, it’s just Henry 7 and 8 KILLED them all off….
Yes but his young son just died and his daughters ruled anyway, so all that blood for what?
Actually the Royal Family is still from the Tudor line just through Henry's sister Margaret who was queen of Scotland, that's how they were able to combine the throne.

the new book by nathen amin... prince of prophecy..
Taking DNA samples would be great research. 🐨💗
Great show. I’m wondering when Mary I became known as Bloody Mary? Who coined the moniker ?
Mary I., was called that after her death. Although not coined by John Foxe. His work, The Actes and Monuments / Foxe’s Book of Martyrs. Is where most historians say the moniker originated from by its readers, yet finding the very first written source of the term "Bloody Mary," remains oddly undocumented.
Protestants for sure called her that. But her father Henry VIII was far more bloody, much more so than his 3 children who went on to ascend to the throne, put together.
Miss leading no coffins are opened.
29.07 David Mitchell there in the background.
The soul of Henry VIII went straight to hell after his death.
There is no "Hell"
Henrys spirit simply dwells in the afterlife for a time then it reincarnates into another mortal saga befitting its character.
I agree. After the josting accident he was not the same in the mean and cruel department.
Click bait
Henry was not the worse king we’ve had !
Henry VIII excesses destroyed the Tudor Dynasty!!
Umm the royal line is still from the Tudors just don't have the name anymore.
Queen Elizabeth was the 14th granddaughter of Henry VII
@@lisadwyer3473 Exactly. It's frustrating that people say the line is dead and I have seen it several times lately.
Why weren't the graves left alone?
I thought it was an offence to break into a coffin unless agreed with officials
Henry VIII destroyed so much history. Awful person
❤❤
10 seconds in and already a falsehood. Henry the VII took the throne in 1485 with very questionable royal lineage. However, as we know he was followed by Henry the VIII, Edward the VI, Mary the I and then Elizabeth the I. (All offspring of Henry VIII). Therefore, the Tudor dynasty lasted a total of two generations. The narrator states that Henry VII created a dynasty that lasted centuries. Elizabeth I died in 1603. That's a total of 118 years. That hardly constitutes using the phrase 'centuries'.
Switching off, in order to avoid any further misinformation or blatant rhetoric.
The narrator didn't state that at all...
The narrator didn’t say that at all.. it said he dreamed of a dynasty that would last for centuries. Someone dreaming of something and it actually happening are not one and the same. Perhaps, read the words she said in the description as it’s written exactly as she said it. You may need to check your hearing if you heard it so differently than how the narrator actually said. Pitty.
Furthermore, she says within 125 years it came to an end right after the statement of what he dreamed of. 😊
Elizabeth will not rule in Heaven...If she even makes it to Heaven...Putting her coffin on top of her sister's means absolutely nothing...I'm so thankful to God I'm a American...We don't have to worship King's and Queen's thank God...
I’m English and I don’t have to worship kings or queens anymore than you have to worship your president.
Elizabeth 1st was a man. Thats why "she" asked not to be autopsied. Also examine the hands of the effigy. They are huge.
Elizabeth had doctors examining her throughout her life, even down to having her virginity verified when she was about 45. Monarchs also had body servants that performed services as intimate as wiping her bottom after bowel movements, or changing the linen
That was used during menstruation.
Elizabeth was most definitely a woman.

Well yee haw! Goober says HI !!!😊
Where’s the bodies?
Henry VIII did not have 6 wives, to start with he was still marred to
katherine when he marred Ann. so dose not count, i could go on.
So much for the English and the love of the monarchy, they can’t even honour the monarchs of the past by restoring the burials of the most opulent kings and queens to have ever reigned. !
What are you talking about
Why would we want to honour someone that thought they were above everyone else just for being born into a family with those views?? Belongs in the dark ages.
"inside of" "inside of"
As someone who is clearly quite well educated, you should know better.
Your comment didn't make sense. So, who is the uneducated one? 😂
Will the retired Queen 👑 of England be buried in there when she passes away
The Queen was interred at Windsor in a crypt.
What are you on about?
😂 mmhmmm I'm sure she will when that time comes without a doubt
What retired Queen are you talking about ?
Queen Elizabeth II never retired and is buried in King George VI Memorial Chapel with her father, mother , husband Prince Phillip .
