  • The Volkswagen ID.7 has already impressed us in its hatchback form, but those looking for a touch more versatility to their electric VW will most certainly be interested in the ID.7 Tourer. Jordan Katsianis has been hanging around sunny Mallorca to have a poke around the new model, and to find out whether it might just be VW's best EV yet.

    Every customer and motoring journalist ever:
    Can we, for pete’s sake, have our physical buttons back please?
    Volkswagen:
    No. ChatGPT!

    • @Lascarnn
      @Lascarnn 2 місяці тому

      those are not mutually exclusive features :) They plan to bring back physical buttons, it's probably just more cost effective to do it later, for bigger range of cars. Haptic buttons have some downsides, but also pros - you can have more gestures on those, like swiping, which you can't do on physical buttons. FTR it's not touch screen, and you can control it without looking at it

      @@Lascarnn I understand the importance of touchscreens when you’ve got a multitude of features that needs cramming into a dashboard. I do however not understand how digging into a menu for the seat heater is better than prodding a button. Or in the case of petrol and diesel cars, turning the stop start off. Which everyone does every time they start the car. This is not the time to save an euro and put the setting deep into a touchscreen.

    Yes, more estates please 🎉 shame about the capacitive steering wheel, but other than that, a non crossover ev 🙌

    I look forward to seeing what the Skoda version of this is like, hopefully with physical climate controls and no silly touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel 🙏

    Please give us our physical buttons, if for no other reason SAFETY

    Any addition to the current EV estate 'void' is to be welcomed.
    Let's hope sales of over-sized, resource-wasteful, inefficient SUVs start to decline as a result. 😉

    Why a start/stop button on the steering column?

    • @martinottosson6583

      If you mess up the automatic off, like Volkswagen have done since the start of the ID line, it would have been better to keep things manual. They still don’t allow for manual on/off however but atleast there’s a for now useless button for it. They could also go for the option to make things right instead, but that has never really been the VW style…

    Really like it! Do you get the Passat PHEV though for less range anxiety???

  • @GarryMcGovern
    @GarryMcGovern 3 місяці тому +2

    Damn, it has more load space than my A6 Avant, and the range looks half decent too............ I still may need to wait for the A6 e-Tron Avant ...... though I fear with the way car pricing has gone over the last few years, that will probably retail at silly money. (Though no price on this either?).

    As a Golf R wagon and HSV LSA Tourer owner this looks great. I was never really happy with the Model 3 or Y but I'm keen to get an electric car and once you go VW, you don't go back! We have a Tiguan r line for the wife so would still have a petrol car as well

    Looks nice. Having a small EV now, and a Volvo V70 for long runs we've been waiting for an EV estate with decent range that'll cover most of our needs. Towing capacity is just enough for a trailer with a Lotus Elise on it too, so it hits every mark and looks decent as well. I'll wait for the lease prices to stabilise and test it and if all is good I can see this being our next family car.
    Not sure why some people are so triggered by EVs above. You can still drive a somewhat smelly diesel if you wish. In fact, I'll probably be selling my V70 soon if this id.7 is as good as it looks..

    I like it, i love my electric EV but this looks like it works for an Avant but let us hope the range is over 300 miles plus

    The lack of a froot is annoying as it is the perfect spot for the cables. Looks a nice car though, I just really hope that it sells as a traditional estate/wagon rather than just the SUV options.

      Most people who get these cars get them on lease, through work, as company cars. Most of my past cars have been ex company cars and that's the best value approach.

    Not sure i'll be having to replace my Passat est company car, i won't get the choice to expensive. Had many Passats (company chooses not me) but list price has been equivalent to about 70% of my annual salary. New Passat is abit more but this is more than my annual salary so i expect to be dowbgraded to a Golf or just opt out of the scheme and get a Corsa myself (kids left home now) so bye bye VW.

    No thanks, not even slightly interested in such a boring electric car. Getting rid of a car to buy a new car that has to be made from raw materials is crazy, crazy to call it good for the environment!
