My Dad used to entertain himself by going out to the back yard, starting up the mower, and sitting to wait and to hear the neighbors coming out and mowing their lawns. Funny, I don't remember ours getting mowed.
That's hilarious. I've been a landscaper for eight years and I see this all of the time when we show up. It's like middle class boomers get reminded that appearances count for quite a bit and they feel the need to compete and come out as soon as we start up on the weekends. It's a bit cringe worthy honestly

That’s hilarious because I also do this. I have one neighbor who will mow his yard everyday if he thinks I’m mowing it. Most of the time I’m just moving my mower in or out of the shed.
Lawns in Australia have 2 stages:
"Better mow that lawn before it gets too long and we get brown snakes..."
"Lawns too long, I can't mow it there might be brown snakes in it..."
I'd say just burn it but.. recent history and all.

Then you have Myles, riding lawn mower, using every chemical known to man to dominate his neighbors with the deepest shade of green and manicured lawn.
Don't forget the stripes in the lawn, on an angle, and the distinct use of an edger for the gap between the lawn and the curb or any other cement. 😁😭
My neighbor does that and no animal will walk across or fly over her yard.

I’m from a state and hood where the ultra manicured lawn is the norm. Hate it. Looks awful. No balance and incredibly unnatural
@@PrimeReal MY neighborhood is BIG and it goes from people who run sprinklers daily and have a lawn service cut and a chem truck pull up monthly and spray. To the guy that can barely keep his lawn cut often enough to keep the HOA off his tail. Saw a lawn the other day that if it weren't for crabgrass they'd have no grass. Mine is above average but I still get weeds and clover and that's ok as long as it's green I'm good.

One a month guy checking in. Our direct neighbor is the twice a day guy. Three doors down are the hippies with more weeds than grass in their lawn.

i am the mow once a month guy, the lawn was beyond dead when i moved in 2 years ago and has been replaced with clover lol

Basic dad in the front, hippie out back. I spent 30 minutes this morning trying to identify a weed to decide if I could just let it take over the back yard but I keep the front yard tidy to keep the neighbors happy.
We planted clover (both white and red) as our intentional “weed” groundcover.
1. Stays short: no need to mow
2. Adds nitrogen to the soil
3. Resilient/hardy
4. Soft enough to walk on
Very happy with the result 😊
@@goosebump801 Not to mention drought resistant. When it gets dry, all the people who keep their lawns nice have an ugly brown patch around their house and the lazy people who let the weeds take over have green in their yards. I have always wondered why people don't just raise weeds. Plantain is another hardy ground cover that is also useful for sores and insect bites.
@@goosebump801 my current problem is maintaining enough water coverage to get all the seed to germinate. its very drought tolerant once established but it needs to be damp for like.. 3-5 days minimum to get it to sprout reliably
so now i have just been watering in sections, a week at a time

I wonder if Charlie's Dad regularly mows his grass cuz Charlie is one of 12 kids - mosr of them younger (can't remember if Charlie's the oldest). Don't know if any kids are still around at home enough for mowing to be their job, not dad's - or if Dad mowing the grass was out of the ordinary and just for this video. 😁

If you live in a place where Code Enforcement punishes you for your property and it isn't an EPA violation, you're in the wrong place.
What about the guy who mows the yard and finds a car? There is one of those in my neighborhood. We obviously have no HOA and code-enforcement is always out on other calls.

@@DJTheMetalheadMercenary no, I mean conservative since that's culturally a conservative thing. The idea of forcing people to have cut grass lawns is an elitist thing from the 1600s for monarchs to impress others. After them using lawns, they then made their civvies also do it.
If you mean your local leaders being in an independent party or not being in a party, they can be still be at least slightly conservative since someone's ideology is obviously separate from party.
There are enough suggestions already in the comments section to warrant a part 2 - 4-6 MORE types of lawn guys! 😂

My favorite job is mowing the lawn and pulling weeds. Been like that since I started doing it at 15 where I learned that I absolutely loved it. I’m now 20 and going to so start Tradeschool on landscaping. (Was a military brat, always lived in islands and neighborhoods that did the landscaping and that’s why I didn’t start lawn working till 15)

I grew up in an apartment, so everything is new to me! I live on a farm now and I looooove to mow, garden and weed. I wish I knew this earlier when I was like 30+ years younger. Best to you going to tradeschool! It's great to find a career you love, trust me!

I LOVE number 4, they keep me employed.
After my dad lost two toes to the mower and my mom had to pick them out of the grass so they could be reattached before driving him to the hospital, seeing anyone mow barefoot makes me yell uncontrollably whenever I see that happening. Even though he had shoes on, it just doesn't matter. Even if it's on TV. .. I can't stop myself from yelling at the tv.
Yeah, no kidding. Don't do anything outdoors barefoot. It's brutal out there!
My neighbor is like this, but his feet are so callused and hobbit-like that I’m pretty sure the mower blades would break before his toes.
Around here we have the "One up the neighbor dad". They need a $10k 60inch wide zero turn commercial mower to cut a 10 x 10 yard while wearing matching mower branded cap and neck gaiter.

Very relatable comedy. I'm currently the hippy. I own a pushy and I have cut the lawn barefoot. This will change when I get a bigger lawn. The teenager hit very close to home. I was the king of whining when I was a teenager.

@@MJA5 - Neat thing about pushies, the blades stop when you stop. Nearly impossible to get your toes in the blades in that scenario. With that said, I usually wear beach shoes when cutting the lawn. It only takes 10 minutes.

Oh boy, u sure have the teenager down pat! My kids were exactly like that.....which I will never get.....we have a riding mower.... asking a teenager to sit and drive around seems like the perfect chore 🤔 But who can figure teenagers...
I definitely would have complained a lot less as a kid/teenager if I didn't have to be out there pushing the mower in the hot sun and got to drive it instead. You've got lucky kids!

I’m definitely Basic Dad, even though I’m a Mom. I have all the tools: clean, well-maintained gas mower, battery operated string trimmer and blower, and a manual edger. I’m a Daddy’s Girl who loved helping him with the lawn and he taught me all I know. “Mow High, Mow Often”!
My hubby is so excited for lawm mowing season.

i asked my husband if we could keep the clover in the back and he could have the grass in the front......the clover is winning The Dry Spell Award for staying green!! Plus we have more bees and butterflies now! YAY He's fine with that too! Good for you Nebulana!
Well its possible to remove your grass covers and then get more clover seeds from their flowers! It'll still likely work if you have clay soil even lol

You forgot "The Tomorrow Guy." Always going to cut it tomorrow but it rains, or snows, or any number of calamites. Finally at the end of summer and after 3 feet of weed growth, the first mow of the year becomes the last mow of the year.

I bought a new house in 2020 and had my first lawn. I was the up at 8am Saturday Morning to mow guy. Until June rolled around and I remembered I live in Florida where the humidity get so high it's essentially just boiling water. Now I'm the outsourcer with far less Chadwick.
In the spring I dethatch, mow short, then after a rain, aerate, fertilize and spray some weed killer. The first few mowings are short, starting at 2 inches, working a quarter inch taller every week. By late May I am mowing my lawn on a four day cycle at 3 1/2" and bagging. In September, i fertilize, overseed, spread some topsoil/sand to level a few spots. Then before the snow hits mow it short, ugly short. Even with a dog my lawn looks and feels great. Even in July and August it is so green, soft, cushiony and cool, all without extra watering. I have a neighbor who mows every two weeks, in the heat of day, doesn't bag, rake, dethatch, fertilize or kill weeds. The grass clippings are starving out the rest of the lawn and helping the weeds to grow.
But I learned how to take care of lawns as a kid, read up on it and learned to understand how grasses grow.
I mulch and don't fertilize don't rake been yet my grass has been happy for the 30 years i have lived in this home

my old man attempted to get me to mow the lawn once as a teen. I was just about to leave on an adventure with friends. So I mowed in a spiral pattern coming off each tree individually. Then when they got close to touching I did a spiral perimeter run to fill in the gaps. Then a few zig zags going across the mess. Left the mower in the middle of the yard. From then on I was banned from mowing and life was good.
"Are they fighting? No, they're mating." (Puts down binoculars) "Guess I'll give them their privacy." (Starts watching them again through binoculars) . . .
