  • In this video I compare the performances of Mercury Fury props on my Phoenix 921 Elite with a Mercury V8 4-Stroke 250hp engine! In this video I test the Fury 23-pitch and 24-pitch three blades, as well as the Fury 4 24-pitch four-blade prop. This is certainly not a super-scientific comparison video, but I believe it is a good test of the performances of each prop on my 921 Elite hull. Though I am confident you can expect similar results with each prop in relation to this hull, keep in mind there are a multitude of variables that can affect the performance of a prop. Also, keep in mind that with every variable seemingly being the same, similar props, hulls and engines may perform very differently. Thanks for watching!

Great Job. Much appreciated that you have a good understanding of the science behind boat and motor performance and variables etc. fyi, Industry standard for testing holeshot performance is- Stop watch time vs. 0-30 mph. It is an accurate and consistant way to compare props as well as performance mods on hulls and motors. Glad to see you are using Q Silver merc props. The best is very important!

Interesting, I did not know that about testing it at 0-30. In further prop comparisons Ill definitely make that the metric! Thanks!

I'd like to see 23 Fury 4 on that hull. 5650 rpms is kinda low. Going down a pitch to the 23 might get it a bit closer to the 6200 peak rpm range.

6,200 rpm is what the 150 pro xs gets with a 21

I was actually expecting a bit more top end from the 24 and a longer hole shot. I wonder what the slip is on that prop, although it does seem to bite pretty hard.

Just watched the video for the first time. I like the 4 blade for slow speed driving. I don't care about top end. My wife doesn't wanr to go fast. She likes to go slow to just look around. One dealer said the 921 is a boat that can plain and run smoothly at 2omph or 30mph. The running surface is longer. Do you agree? I don't want no porposing like skeeters do. Not sure about thsat spelling. Please let me know on u tube reply..I want a smooth riding boat at low rpms. 3ooo to 3500rpms. Please let me know your thinking.

I do agree that Phoenix has one of the best slow speed rides. I’ve also found that it performs really well at slow speeds with a 3-blade Fury 23p, which normally I see that kind of performance only from a four blade. It is a great slow speed handling boat that doesn’t porpoise.

5600 RPM's with the 24 is way too low and will cause stress in the motor over a period of time. What RPM's did the 24 4 blade turn?

Man, seems really sluggish mid range to top end, along with not even breaking 70mph. I don’t have a Phoenix (Basscat) but a buddy does that I help setup for him. 920PxP 24p fury3 2.25-.5”PTP, 75 water temp, 95+ air temp…7sec Hole, max out 73mph and he is Loaded! 5graphs, full of fuel LW half full, plus me. I’m really curious what your PTP when you were running(honestly I think your are running too low, with rpm range and top end being like it is) …his boat is super sensitive about height and really hurt the mid range and top end until we got it up 2.75 below pad and started coming alive. FYI tried Tempest+25 and 24(24 had added cup) and it is hands down best top end(25p) (@74mph)prop for his boat BUT, hole shot was horrible so it wasn’t even considered for and alternative. Anyway nice video!

If I were running a 920 I would feel I too am running slower than normal, but from what I hear of the 921’s with the larger gas tank and as much gear as I carry, I think I’m right about at the range that could be considered normal, but then again every boat and every engine, and even every prop will be a bit different. Ive tweaked the height of the Jack plate non-stop for the first few months I ran the boat and Ive found that the height I tested it at has been the best for my boat. I’m hoping to try the 25p if I can, but too worry about the hole shot. Thanks!

@@SonarFishing for sure man! Hey, really like your vids and it’s nice to see you out there putting alittle more info out there as far as boat setups and running capabilities. It gives alittle more insight to the average angler as well what you guys actually run. Personally, for me I really like the travel/camp vids that you do as well! ✌️
