Hey guys! Thanks so much for watching again, and hopefully this helps you! I will be doing a Q&A video very soon, so leave any questions you have below and I’ll try my best to answer as many of them as I can!
Hey, in the last video you stated that you needed some funding for your college studies but didn't the competition itself didn't provide you that? I mean I'm skeptical of the the competition, do they really provide that much money in the end?
Why are there essay questions? How important are they? Are they being graded or assessed for some overall score in the process? Should I put much effort into them?
Thanks again.... Although I have already uploaded my video for the challenge this year.... I will be applying these techniques for future videos.... Thanks again
Hi Jeffery! You mentioned that you can find music in the UA-cam audio library, but would you mind mentioning the name of the specific song you used in your entry last year and where you got it from? Thanks!
What are the most effective way to edit? I find when I'm using iMovie it is extremely hard to get the audio and video tracks to line up the way I want. Thanks!
Amazing tips!! My questions: how do you go about the process of picking a topic to discuss and doing the research on it? How do you organize all this information (vis-a-vis in a script format)?
Hi Jeffery! When I put my phone in my shirt to record my voice, the sound gets muffled by the phone rubbing against my shirt every time I move a little bit. How exactly did you put your phone in your shirt?
hey! I was just wondering... When I record, even using a separate microphone or my phone, the wind noise is still really prominent, making my voice sound far away... Do you have any recommendations?
Hi Jeffery! I have a few questions about the Breakthrough Course Challenge. 1. How did you organize your information to fit into the time limit of the video? 2. Do you recommend (a) recording yourself for the majority of the video, including diagrams and animations to demonstrate or (b) can you animate with voice-over throughout the entire process (similar to a Ted-Ed video)? 3. Did you read off a script while filming? Unfortunately, I cannot participate in this challenge because I am one year under the age parameter, but on the bright side, I will have an entire year to research, film, and animate/edit the video. Thank you for guiding me and your other viewers through this difficult, tremendous process. I will be sure to subscribe to your channel for more helpful content. :)
Hey Jeffery, How do you choose your words for your script so it is not just paraphrasing research papers and stuff people can easily find online. Am having a bit of a problem with explaining without repeating what everybody says about the my topic.
Hey Jeffery, thanks a ton for the videos.... My question is a bit abstract but I look forward to your answer: How did you change your film making process (or in fact your entire process of production of science communication videos) from your submission to Challenge back in 2018 to the one for which you won in 2019? In a nutshell - What did you learn from the first video that helped gloriously improve the second...
Hey Jeffrey! Thanks for this. Very helpful💕 For the QnA, how do you know if you're topic is difficult enough and is it okay to mention scientic terms or will it just intimidate some viewers with limited scientific background? Thanks! Also, how many words were in your script last year? haha
I'm just finding these videos, and I literally just realised that I followed NONE of the advice. No wonder mine turned out so bad. oh well, nothing to worry now. It's already submitted and uploaded.
Hey I was thinking about explaining my idea in a form of like a short play or a conversation between two personalities! Does this sounds childish?! In other words can we make videos for children?!
Hi there. I'm going to participate in the breakthrough junior challenge 2020 and I wondered if we are allowed to explain certain concepts in physics which just exist in theories but still don't have experimental evidence like the string theory. I'd be grateful to hear from you.
Honestly I don't have any questions... but I'll throw something out there: Do you have any advice on how to "maintain" a three-minute script? How can one best summarize all the information they know about a concept/theory in this somewhat short amount of time without missing any info? Thank you Jeffery- cheers!
I am not an expert but I had heard one advice which is quite helpful : Try omitting the technical terms by simpler ones. But at the same time, it should be scientifically correct. If possible remove the unnecessary words. It may take some time however. All the best :)
@@paullovescoffee Hi! Sorry for the late reply; that's great advice--thank you! I also think demonstrations and examples can cut some time too. All best to you too bud!
You could use DaVinci Resolve with its built-in Fusion software: You can download it free on BlackMagicDesign's website: www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/ Wish you luck!

How did you pick your topic? Any tips on how to do so?
What does the scholarship not cover and, if possible, could you give a number of dollars as well?

Question: how would you go about using transitions and how would you make them?
Q: I am making a fully animated video, then should i be adding more sound/extra effects to keep the viewer engaged. Or what else could i do?
As you wish. Depends upon you. It should be engaging, however.
Also how did you get your video to be so clear did you just use an iphone
Thanks Jeffery!

Hi Jeffery! I wanna ask about language. Is English pronunciation necessary?
Ironically I'm having some trouble hearing your voice over the music
